No, I don't think Dan is her brother. I think that spricket (Karen) plays this really obnoxious girl that he went out with on a date once and she won't leave him alone. Hence him commenting on her annoying laugh and her calling him so many times. He says "Wave your red flag a little higher" because it's so obvious that she is wanting to move too fast and basically she made him realize he has absolutely no feelings for her at all. Something along these lines. :)

Most of the songs we hear nowadays are lovey love songs and abotu how much one misses the other and all that nonsense, and if it's not, it's prolly sung by a girl.

This is one of the first songs Iv'e heard by a guy--that isn't lovey and it's fabulous. xD
