my bad..apache comes after that synth sound..i dunno know what track that sound come from but lookin at vid he starts to scratch it at 0:14 then that track comes on. maybe synth sound is part of that track. if not, flash would put alot of samps in from movies and other sounds not from records..

well shows that you're an ignorant ass, that does know nothing about music.. saying electronic music is bad is a pretty dubious statement, regarding the fact that taste is still subjective
using pcs offers the djs/producers better possibilitys to present their music to the crowd.
actually there are still electronic djs that play with 2turntables/mixer.

Right. Actually, once they started making records, it killed the spontaneity and creativity. But at least the 1980s was somewhat of a holdover from the 1970s, when rap was rap. When the white companies take over, USING us, it kills the culture. Just look at double-dutch. This was something girls just did for fun. Then it became "organized" and suddenly, you don't see girls doing this anymore.
I think I understand u.I'm saying that once rap went to records, something was lost. And I related the effects of commercializing rap, with that of double-dutch, which from what I can see, is relegated to a narrowed population - the "in" crowd. You had to be there. D.J. mixing records and the MC spitting rhymes.Because of the time, w/no one ever seeing how big this would become, most of this was never recorded. But to me, those were hip--hops best days, a sort of innocence pre-commercialism.
... and of course, before white executives, seeing the power and influence of the rappers, encouraged and financed the utter, social destruction of the art form and our people, through violent, gangster and sexually explicit/immoral lyrics and depictions.
he rapped all night and day about violent, gangster and sexually explicit/immoral lyrics and depictions, he was being influenced by "white executives."
YES!The WXs determine the course and in fact have TOLD conscious rappers that their clean material won't sell, so they won't produce it. I even heard a rapper say this. They are tremendous pressure by WXs to produce the degrading filth that destroys black people BECAUSE it destroys black people.
i seriously hope you die, grand master flash is the greatest dj ever, definatley more so than some bullshit some gay white trash can produce you dickhead
Instead of seeing real elements of Hip Hop on display like Scratching or Breaking.... kids and dorks these days wanna see Antares Autotuned "rnb singers" and blinged out rappers who don't write their own beats, and half of them have ghost writers coming up with their generic, broken, and utterly weak dialogue.
Anyone can write poetry, or "attempt it and get away with garbage", but not everyone can cut it up!
i wish people would learn some hip hop history before leaving comments ,this guy is a blatant legend how can you compare him to the likes of kenataro ect..? you must be pretty new to this and not know where it has come from ! none of us would be cuttin up or beat juggling if it hadnt of been for the likes of grandmaster flash ,kool herc and grandwizzard theodore the were the first turntablists so show respect not ignorance !!
If it wasnt for DJ Grand Wizard Theodore there wouldnt be no scratch.
''DJ Grand Wizard Theodore accidentally invents 'the scratch.' While trying to hold a spinning record in place in order to listen to his mom, who was yelling at him, Grand Wizard accidentally caused the record to produce the "shigi-shigi" sound that is now known as the scratch. Scratch is the crux of modern deejaying.''
West Street mob sampled it, the beat itself is from a song called "Apache" by the Incredible Bongo Band, as Elfuego121 noted a week ago. Sugar Hill gang used it on a song that they called "Apache" where they keep saying "Jump On It, Jump On It!". Missy Elliot used it in a song called "We Run This". The Bongo Band also did another song called 'Bongo Rock" that is a break beat classic.
