  • NO COMPUTER NEEDED. NO SERATO. FLASH DID IT LIVE!

  • hE'S COMIONG TO PYRAMID THIS YEARR

  • it was said about 4 years ago that Grandmaster Flash was the ONLY DJ from the Pioneers of DJing and Hip Hop that was still a DJ and a Radio Personality... at over the age of 50... most of the DJ's that started hip hop arent doing it anymore, there watching there old videos of victorys....

  • 0:21-0:23 ......fReeeEAaaaaKKKYYY..jg kdscjJfxm..GGggOOoooood./,...

  • It's a damn shame that this legend hasn't improved in over 25 years! I hate when old school cats refuse to evolve and grasp new concepts. Turntablism has evolved so much and this man is still playing the same way for the past 25 years.

  • That's incredible bongo band - bongo rock. if thats the one you were thinking of. its either that or the breakbeat version, type in Ultimate breaks and beats in the search bar. best breakbeat vinyl in the world. REAL HIP HOP ! NOT LIL WAYNE HIP-POP !!!

  • @MrHighVids It's actually the flipside of bongo rock. The joint is called Apache! The ultimate break dancing battle record. And you got it right brah,REAL HIP HOP at it's finest!

  • @MrHighVids Tiny Wayne is crap...ask my boys around the way...Big Daddy Kane is what they will say

  • I want theat beat :D

  • OMG its incredible(:

  • found it, it's way back in these comments. crown heights affair - do it the french way. i found like 30 seconds of the song but cant find any more than that. anyone know where i can find the song in it's entirety? Thanks

  • my bad..apache comes after that synth sound..i dunno know what track that sound come from but lookin at vid he starts to scratch it at 0:14 then that track comes on. maybe synth sound is part of that track. if not, flash would put alot of samps in from movies and other sounds not from records..

  • No one in the world will come close to the talent of Grandmaster Flash! I remember him from when I was kid. Just awesome. Pay attention kids. This is the culture that was stolen from you by bullshit club tracks and R&B. Hip hop was an art before it became a hustle.

  • what's the name of the track at 0:24

  • @BJSteigner apache..its starts right after 0:24

  • whats the tune at 0:21

  • whats that at 0:22 to 0:24? sounds awesome

  • @willmaster93 apache

  • @NYOLSKOOL this high pitched synth for a second or two? i listened to apache and didnt hear that

  • @willmaster93 shit..comment under this is for u..and the more i look at it, its comin off that first record hes spinnin..ya hear a bit of synth sound around 0:09

  • @willmaster93 maybe from an obscure calypso joint. he used them alot. that joint in end is an old calypso joint, `heaven and hell is on earth`..just guessin..

  • all you dj's bow down and respect the king that is flash

  • he is the bomb

  • whats the name of the song at the very end of this video???

  • @BigSam511 20th century steel band...heaven and hell is on earth

  • the grandmaster at work. good shit

  • What's the name of the tracks on the wheels of steel?? Anyone know?

  • is that the room where TRL was hosted?

  • The precurssor of scratching.

  • @TheMightyGuri

I Take it you haven't studied any american history? If so you would know that hip-hop and rap evolved from the increased racial gap under the Reagan administration....

  • @Dompola so what? its a music genre from the bronx thats clarified pretty openly and so what? if you like the beat then listen to it. if you dont dont listen to it thats simple.

  • @Dompola u gota be kidding me w/ that statement. what a fool. reagan became pres in `81. sorry pal hip hop was already here. guess ya gota blame the peanut man carter, if u wana bring politics into hip hop. mightyguri was right in saying hip hop knows no colors. shit ya have to go back to g ford back in 76 when he told NY to screw itself. maybe thats when the movement started. if anything hip hop brought whites and blacks together...moron

  • nothin like the old school

  • is hip hop taught in elementary school music classes as most other forms of music are?

  • nope haha idk why some ass holes would probably not consider it a music form on the school boards

  • what the fuck is a cd player? sounds like childs play.

  • Check out my channel, for the greatest hip hop of all time, including some of the greatest atists, and best hip hop songs of all time. friend request, or subscribe the channel if you wanna. thanks guys.

  • 5*****!!!

  • That Was cool

  • this dude is the fucking shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @someonex011 do you even understand wants happening he's beatjugling its actualy a hard skill

  • that`s the real dj-ing. not playing start-stop on cd decks

  • im a big fan of him

  • 1-1-2010. He's not blue. He and Ren Woods are only 52. Happy Birthday and Happy New Year to The Grandmaster.

  • fuck yhu bitch motherfucker

  • my god-father had a battle with grandmaster flash back in this time forgot exactly when....it was a good battle from wat i heard...i was too young to hear the mixes but lets just say my god-father lost but it was a respected battle....props to flas n all original dj's

  • @sky1627 Your right man dats what its all about ...damn i wanna meet flash now!

  • oh.. shit that would be sick.

  • my god-father had a battle with grandmaster flash back in the days...flash beat him but it was a good battle...wish i had the mixes it was back when flash was begining

  • Excuse me, but what are WX's?

  • thats old school, without any computers and shit, only a mixer and two turntables

  • no, its not oldschool. using PC is faking. PC DJ's are fake DJ's.

  • you fail and know nothing about the electronic dance scene of today

  • FYI, if you're talking about Flash. you're fucking stupid, do some research if you don't understand why I declared you stupid.

  • well shows that you're an ignorant ass, that does know nothing about music.. saying electronic music is bad is a pretty dubious statement, regarding the fact that taste is still subjective

using pcs offers the djs/producers better possibilitys to present their music to the crowd.

actually there are still electronic djs that play with 2turntables/mixer.

anyway im no "nigger". i still dont get why you americains call each other nigger..

  • i use a PC and turntables. Theres nothin' wrong with using a PC. Just like u said it gives DJ's a better way to present there music to a crowd.

  • If you have a pc there is nothing wrong with that....

  • @PcRoX123hackedACC

You do know Grandmaster Flash, Richie Hawtin or any other iconic DJ is mixing on a PC nowadays? Sure it is easier to get the tracks straight, but they can use the time they save by that for other stuff they couln't do with turntables.

  • @vuksa1234321 fucking agree!!!!

  • @vuksa1234321 That's how it is supposed to be...

  • @vuksa1234321

Yes, but music in the 80's was already made on computer instruments, such as digital synthesizers, sequencers and drum computers.

  • u talk like a juvenile kid,how old are u?

  • Biggie Smalls rapped violent, gangster and sexually explicit/immoral lyrics and depictions. And he was one of the greats.

  • Hip Hop pioneers

  • lol, im listening to this and im white :0

everyone else is talking about white people being bad D=

  • hip hop has nothing to do with race, color and religion

  • very true Mighty

  • that was wack.....he is a pioneer i agree where was the 15 to 20 years of skills at doing that session.

  • what was the first sample that he used?

  • Go Flash! Go Flash!

  • but Grandmaster Flash is the first, another DJ can come up and be better than any DJ ever to spin, but without the first, there would be no best.

  • Right on man.

  • different eras bro

  • Grandmaster Flash - Turntablism father hell yea!!!

  • legend...

  • damn i was born too late and missed all this!

  • THAT my friend, is REAL hip-hop. I don't know what the HECK this gangsta trash is today. Wack and MORE wack!

  • gangasta is from the 90's, taday mtv killed hip hop whit that elevator pop shit

  • Right. Actually, once they started making records, it killed the spontaneity and creativity. But at least the 1980s was somewhat of a holdover from the 1970s, when rap was rap. When the white companies take over, USING us, it kills the culture. Just look at double-dutch. This was something girls just did for fun. Then it became "organized" and suddenly, you don't see girls doing this anymore.

  • i dont understand you, and meaby you dont understand me,

every one got his opinions but almost anyone can say today hip hop sux

  • I think I understand u.I'm saying that once rap went to records, something was lost. And I related the effects of commercializing rap, with that of double-dutch, which from what I can see, is relegated to a narrowed population - the "in" crowd. You had to be there. D.J. mixing records and the MC spitting rhymes.Because of the time, w/no one ever seeing how big this would become, most of this was never recorded. But to me, those were hip--hops best days, a sort of innocence pre-commercialism.

  • ... and of course, before white executives, seeing the power and influence of the rappers, encouraged and financed the utter, social destruction of the art form and our people, through violent, gangster and sexually explicit/immoral lyrics and depictions.

  • oh, you aretalking about pre recorded hip hop, ther is a big peace of history miss there

  • Are you telling me that Biggie Smalls , when

he rapped all night and day about violent, gangster and sexually explicit/immoral lyrics and depictions, he was being influenced by "white executives."

  • YES!The WXs determine the course and in fact have TOLD conscious rappers that their clean material won't sell, so they won't produce it. I even heard a rapper say this. They are tremendous pressure by WXs to produce the degrading filth that destroys black people BECAUSE it destroys black people.

  • i think the WXs told marilyn manson he had to do what he did too. if not they'll drop him from his record deal.

  • 1st, what does marilyn manson have to do with the WX's war on black people?

  • @Soulblackman lmfao preachin bull shit on youtube

  • So true, and, being white (well, Greek) i couldn't care less bout this whole "oh look he's dissing the white man", cause its true =]

  • @HiralShah00 yeah man me too

  • It sounds like Young MC - Mi name is young, really

  • so what??? faster??? who cares.

  • at the time this video was shot, being fast of the turntables was important. Damn, how you don't know that? Where you beee? In jail?

  • no.,... where were you?? in your daddy bag most likely.

  • Noob!

  • speak english please.... thank you.

  • WHYtf isn't stuff like this on TV anymore?

Instead of seeing real elements of Hip Hop on display like Scratching or Breaking.... kids and dorks these days wanna see Antares Autotuned "rnb singers" and blinged out rappers who don't write their own beats, and half of them have ghost writers coming up with their generic, broken, and utterly weak dialogue.

Anyone can write poetry, or "attempt it and get away with garbage", but not everyone can cut it up!

  • cus kids dont know bout the old school...

  • I totally agree with you

  • I love Flash.. but goddamn he plays the same tracks all the time.. ALLL the time. Atleast when he's demoing.

  • "dj kentaro is faster"

here is an example of someone taking shit too seriously and spoiling the fun for everybody. it's just music. life is short. enjoy it while it lasts.

  • does any one know what the first song was?

  • incredible bongo band - apache?

  • First song is from Crown Heigs Affair "French Way"--then h cuts in "Apache" fro th Bongo Band

  • i wish people would learn some hip hop history before leaving comments ,this guy is a blatant legend how can you compare him to the likes of kenataro ect..? you must be pretty new to this and not know where it has come from ! none of us would be cuttin up or beat juggling if it hadnt of been for the likes of grandmaster flash ,kool herc and grandwizzard theodore the were the first turntablists so show respect not ignorance !!

  • wat yr was this?

  • i dont know xsecly but it coluld be early '90

  • damn...i was born this yr lol

  • it doesnt matter whos is faster if it wasnt for Grandmaster there would not be a dj kentaro

  • If it wasnt for DJ Grand Wizard Theodore there wouldnt be no scratch.

''DJ Grand Wizard Theodore accidentally invents 'the scratch.' While trying to hold a spinning record in place in order to listen to his mom, who was yelling at him, Grand Wizard accidentally caused the record to produce the "shigi-shigi" sound that is now known as the scratch. Scratch is the crux of modern deejaying.''

  • mad

  • When was that recorded exactly? :)

  • legend

  • Haha apachebreak!

  • !!!

  • apache! =]

  • No one is faster. Why does everyone say it is old school when it is so fresh?

  • old school flava

  • cuz of the "shawty" and "bling bling" thing that's in the mainstream today :(

  • Thanks for posting!

  • looks like a old school hip hop cooking show.

  • ooooollllldddd schooolllll that's music!

thx man to post this vid

  • In the radio, i heard the first scratching song (i think). What's the name of it? Another one bites the dust was in it.

  • The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel

  • Indeed!

Man, I was it was a "to be continued" thing

Too bad it was way before my time

  • You know whats funny>....NO SERATO hahahaha.Dont trip I use it too

  • this is whot i mean for beat...old school whit heart, new school whit money...

SUPPORT AND RESPECT THE OLD SCHOOL

  • hi the drum break is from west street mob "breakdance _ electric boogie"

  • West Street mob sampled it, the beat itself is from a song called "Apache" by the Incredible Bongo Band, as Elfuego121 noted a week ago. Sugar Hill gang used it on a song that they called "Apache" where they keep saying "Jump On It, Jump On It!". Missy Elliot used it in a song called "We Run This". The Bongo Band also did another song called 'Bongo Rock" that is a break beat classic.

  • what song is the drum break from?

  • "Apache" by Michael Viner's Incredible Bongo Band

    looked at the older comments

  • Damn, this is so cool!

I wish Djs nowadays could do that

  • There are those of us who still do that! Others are cd, i-pod, mp3 jocks. But yes, there are those of us who still get down like this.

  • this real hip hop right here

  • Dis is deadly man.Why didnt hip hop stay t this level of cool

  • Dis is sum pretty amazin music............ Who else dus dis kind of turntablin,cs im kinda new t hip hop?
