  • @HoverboardFan14

Excellent idea! Maybe that can be worked into a Disney series like Jake and the Neverland Pirates.

  • the dad sounds like scrooge mcduck

  • @D400m That's because they are the same voice actor, Alan Young. :-)

  • 1:35-2:15 "mommy that was scary as f***!" -Nostalgia Critic

  • Anyone else remember when Disney made movies that relied more on amazing stories and plots, rather than big name actors?

  • that bat use to scare the shit out of me

  • The opening scene reminds me of sly cooper

  • 14:57 LOOK it's bill from wonderland!!!!!!!!

  • The bat crashes into the house and hundreds of screaming children go running out of the theatre!!!

  • @BasilTheDetective

Basil, you're the only mouse and one of the few crazy guys I know that rushes in wearing a strange costume, getting a bullseye on a dart board without looking, rushing all over the room, makes random deductions, shoots at your guests, pushes your landlady out when you destroy her good pillows, finds out your wrong about that being the right gun, screams "NOOOOOO! DRAT!", fall onto your chair, and playing a melanchony tune on your violin like you're by yourself.

  • @katelynworkman776864 And that's why we love you.

  • I remember back when I was a kid and that bat came outta the stroller and kidnapped Olivia...it used to scare the shit outta my sister and I. I was scared of this until I was 14...I'm 22. XD

  • This is airing on Disney Channel today @ 12:30 can't wait!

  • Anyone else think at 12:59-13:03 - "WESTWOOD."

  • this movie was allwayes cute ^^

  • Lush!

  • Vincent Price said his favorite role was voicing Prof. Radigan. WOW! That's saying alot from such a master!

  • I wish they had gotten Scottish actors to do the Flavershams. Oh well. Love Sherlock. Love Basil. ^_^

  • Basil = Sherlock Holmes

    Dawson = Watson

    Ratigan = Moriarty

  • Basil, you're left handed? 10:11. Haha

  • anybody else find that ballerina toy frickin' sweet?

  • @koechiaki777 Honestly, it terrifies me.

  • Ratigan = Moriarty

  • I'm fairly certain this was the first Disney movie I saw in theaters. I was seven. I don't think I've seen it again until now.

  • Mommy..! That's scary as F**k!

XD thumbs up if you get the reference

  • @TheAGKMisadventures well, i saw a cross-eyed chinese mouse, holding a gun, looking creepy

  • I've had a crush on Basil ever since I was little-3

  • Fidget looks like a fricken grimlen

  • Basil is the best character in the whole movie!!!

  • Dahdie, Daaaahdie, Wheh ah yooou?

  • 12:59

    Ratigan:....WESTWOOD >:T

  • Good golly, this scene has haunted me for many years!!!!

  • Yay! Finally, here is the actual movi online yay! I love this so much!

  • i've never seen this movie before...and 2 minutes in i already love it

  • hmmmm, what is so evil about a robot maid?

    or waitress?

I don't see how its bad in this part.

  • @sasorishadow I think later on it's a disguise.

  • this is the one disney movie i wouldn't mind to see a sequel of

  • @sailormoonfan and if they do it right. most sequals to disney movies suck because of the storyline and cheap animation.....

  • @sailormoonfan *IDEA* (don't read beginning of sentence if you want the movie spoiled) idea is the rat is still alive and basil also has a 14-16 year old daughter that as smart as him but can be bossy and have an attitude, they try to stop the rat again and she ALMOST dies, anyone like this idea?

  • @sailormoonfan disney animated studios right? none of that disneytoon stuff?

  • @sailormoonfan Well, as long as it was done right. Though it would be epic to see Basil actually work with the real Sherlock Holmes! ;-)

  • DUMBO use to scare me LOL

  • I kind of remember this one.

  • @Firefang0223 LOL that made me laugh, I don't know if i remember this one, but I remember some Disney movies scaring the shit out of me too LOL

  • the beginning of this movie used to scare the hell out of me when i was kid...

  • When Fidget busted thru the window when he kidnapped Olivia's dad I used to think it was scary haha...

  • AH BasiltheDetective, why do you bring back my childhood. I'm not complaining though.

  • Haven't seen this since I was really little, never owned it on VHS but recently I visited London and visited Sherlock Holmes' apartment 221B. Now I can say that I've been there!!

  • Poor Olivia :(

  • i love this movie ! <333

  • Omg.. poor girl

  • still have this on vhs!!!!!

  • @tiff61243 I lost it :(

  • This is brilliant! How have I never seen it before?!

  • Miss Kitty (Let me be Good to You) used to be my favorite character... Then I got older, and understood that whole seen a lot more. Still, she's one of my favorite characters :P

  • @Fantabulous10121

Oh i had a crush on her when i was 5 and 10, she's one of my fave animated ladies

  • Because even British MICE have to conquer others.

  • this film always used to scare me when I was little!

  • @insaneblondechick aww thats kinda cute.

  • @insaneblondechick el o elll

  • That awkward moment when Basil, a MOUSE, seems so sexy.

  • @littleignisfatuus There's nothing awkward about that. Bianca, from The Rescuers? Sexiest accent I've ever heard, and she looks hot!

  • @AstralDragoon Agreed about Bianca!

  • @littleignisfatuus happens with gadget to >>

  • @littleignisfatuus btw, if you think basil is sexy, try the real deal with Sherlock.

  • i used to watch this all the time when i was littler! FUCKIN amazing movie!

  • I've found the film of my childhood! XD and I finally get the Sherlock Holmes references :P

  • Basil reminds me a little bit of Robert Downey Jr.'s (sp?) version of Sherlock Holmes.

  • Fantastic description. Way to not be intimidated.

  • I hang a picture of my arch nemesis above my fireplace... It's especially helpful during a dramatic introduction.

  • Man. I sure could go for some fresh cheese crumpets right about now.

  • 14:58 isnt that the lizard from alice and wonderland?? the one that gets shot up a chimney??

  • because of this movie, oone of my major fears as a kid was someone breaking into me and my mother's house :< i had SO many nightmares about it that i still remember to this day.. and yet i still loved the movie ^^

  • @Disneytheivesrock

    I'd hit it. XD

  • holy hell I forgot how scary the beginning of this movie is

  • @IBeMellissa Well, Sherlock Holmes is pretty hot for a fictional 18th century detective. Especially in BBC's Sherlock. :3

  • Rush into your apartment in a Chinese costume, get bulls eye without looking, shoot at your guests, usher out your landlady when you bust open her pillows, find out you're wrong, scream "NOOOOO!", then fall into your chair and play the violin like you're alone.

    LIKE A BOSS/

  • @Disneythievesrock I think you forgot the word 'drat'.

  • I never realised just HOW Holmesian this was in my youth.

  • @VickiSnickers Me either, man. It's hilarious now to me.

  • Basil's kinda..hot for a mouse. :P

  • Sherlock Holmes with mice :D

  • 7:43 giant gun o-o

  • 07:21 that bit made me laugh alil wen he deflated

  • pause quick at 10:27

  • you know, this makes me think at Sherlock Holmes.

  • The father's voice...

Is that the same as the voice of Scrooge McDuck?

  • 14:00 to 14:30 FAVORITE SCENE IN THIS PART OF THE MOVIE!

    "Fidget...? FIDGET!"

  • 1:18 to 1:28 almost traumatized me once when i was little. But now i'm seventeen and like watching that part. I'D KICK THAT BAT-ASS ANY DAY! :D

  • Pardon...? what-what? did he say " doooh Crap!" ? around 9:35 ? funny how much they can squeeze in swears in kids movies... ^_^;;; " Ass" in Aladin..."Hell" in Sleeping Beauty "Crap" in Great Mouse Detective...

  • @Amestrian

I think he said "Ooooh DRAT" but that's just how I heard it. =P And when was "ass" ever in Aladdin?

  • @Amestrian Like kauverify2 said, he's saying "Drat!"

  • one of the few movies where te hero and villain play so well off each other

  • Is that lizard Bill from Alice in Wonderland? O-O

  • dont care how old i get, that part where the bat bursts thru the window will always scare the shit outta me

  • @sonicjrjr14 man i used to hide under the covers while that part came on :)

  • 6:14 I love that one of the things she's holding is a mace.

  • 5:51 Guess who?

  • Dr. Dawson sounds like the Sultan from Aladdin.

  • @vankhoa0 and also maurice from beauty n the beast

  • I just realized. The father has Scrooge McDuck's voice. :O

  • -Dodger taught me that you shouldn’t let everyday worries weigh you down

-Basil of Baker Street taught me that NO one is more clever than YOU

-Bernard and Bianca taught me that no matter your size, personality or whatever, let NOTHING stop you from making a difference

-Marahute taught me to let my imagination and spirit soar

    -And so much more…

And what has the new Disney taught us? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!! Click “Like” if you agree. LONG LIVE OLD SCHOOL DISNEY!!!!

  • @TheSlytherinBaron i would say that basil taught me

“There’s always a chance, as long as one can think!”- Qouted by Basil Of Baker Street

  • @raven8344 Right on!!!

  • @TheSlytherinBaron 'more cleverer'? Maybe someone should stop you watching movies and teach you basic communication skills.

  • from 10:50 to 11:22 scared me when i watched this as a kid.

  • 2:32 Mommy, that's scary as fuuuuuck!

    Guess where that came from?

  • I never noticed this before, but the maid is carrying a MACE! Never explained. Its just there.

  • I actually cracked up when the opening credits rolled. Mostly because its starts with the darkest scene in the movie, then suddenly the whimsical music begins and Disney' logo pops up. Timing.

  • its the lizard chimney sweep from alice in wonderland!!! i think his name was bill?

  • Not to sound rude or anything, but Fidget sounds like he smoked on way to many cigars when he talks.

  • so... this is Sherlock Holmes, mouse style?

  • @bballbri11 yep.

  • y couldnt me nd my father have a relationship like tht?....

  • What a depressing way to start out a movie :(

  • 1:49 i always got scared at that part ._.

  • Does anyone know where I can download this? I'd love to make some amvs with Basil clips but, can't find the download anywhere.

  • @kirara2516 Have you tried thepiratebay?

  • @InuyashaKagomae4ever I've heard that's a bad and illegal site which is why I won't go on it with all this talk of the SOPA bill. Do you know of anyone that might have this movie on megaupload?

  • @kirara2516 My apologies. I don't keep up to date on megaupload videos. You can search and see if anything turns up. Other than that...sorry.

  • "th-thats why i m-must find BASIL" *bursts into tears*

  • ;p *scary scene then ques to happy cheery music* "The Great Mouse Detective"

  • Hiram (Olivia's dad) is voiced by Alan Young, the same guy who voices Scrooge McDuck. They sound every bit alike.

  • lol, he says "dry your eyes" and she blows her nose.

  • Fucking love this movie thank you for the upload!!!

  • Why am I watching this at 3 am..... :L

  • @SheepAteMyFanBoys im doing that all the time, when i cant sleep and im on the internet i always remember when i was little and watching these movies. they never get old unlike me.

  • To me this is the best Sherlock Holmes film ever! Yeah, I know Basil is not Sherlock, but he is based on the character and he lives in the same house as Sherlock Holmes.

  • Basil(The Detective) reminded of Sherlock Holmes from the newer one.It was really funny!

  • @Helgazz120 you mean the BBC adaptation? LOVE that one! Though i think Basil reminds me more of the RDJ version of Sherlock from the newest film--that Sherlock is a bit more lively and perhaps easier for people to get along with (more 'kid friendly' if you will) then the high functioning sociopath of the BBCs version

  • they Will Not Mind

  • remember watching this before sleeping and being so freakin scared of that bats laughs at the beginning lol

  • there isn't a Disney movie that doesn't fail to move me!

  • Call the Rescue Aid Society! Bianca and Bernard can help!

  • @sailtheplains That' would've been interesting :P

  • Weirdo

  • Weirdo

  • Is that Vincent Price as Ratigan?

  • I love this movie. Brings me back to the good old days... Gooood times.

  • @MasterCarlisle Yeah i know what you mean, I used to watch this film everyday when i was a child and i know every scene of by heart.

  • Hocus pocus

  • The bat always scared the heck out of me!!!

  • i absolutely love this movie

  • RATIGUS OR WHAT EVER HES GAYFABULIOUS

  • 11:56 that song used to give me chills when i was a kid

  • OK, I have to point this out. Basil's playing the instrument wrong. I made an attempt to play the instrument the way he did, and it felt wrong and hard. And I've been playing for 4 years. And no matter if he plays the violin or viola, he's still playing it wrong.

  • My personal favorite Disney animated movie.

  • Ahh having a disney day, can't remember how young I were when I watched this <3 CLASSICS FTW!

  • my god, I simply adore Basil. One of, if not my top favorite characters ever!

  • Lol its funny how she chokes on the feathers

  • I don't care what people say. I ADORE this movie ever since I was a child. : ) And I aware it's Sherlock Holmes, just cartoon mouse-style... But, truly.. so what? They did an amazing job with it. Plus almost half(maybe even more) of the kids who watched this didn't even know who Sherlock Holmes was. If anything it's a more friendly way to get a younger mind interested in the fantastic books it was based off of. ^^

  • i'm 11 and this is my 1st time watching this

  • @SkittleE275 I'm 18 and it's my first time watching this :)

  • @luigi54321 yay!

  • i used to absolutely love this movie when i was little :)

  • Oh God bless you for posting this , amen
