Moving through traditional blues scale to modal territories & beyond by subtracting notes that's something every player will go ," now why didn't I think about that ?!.,. "
He is a really good teacher. So many "lessons" are just someone showing off or playing fast arpeggios and scales that are worthless if you don't know how to apply them to real music.
I have used the flat 5th regularly for so long it doesn't sound wrong at all and when used it passing phrases it absolutely doesn't sound wrong. I love the way it sounds when he ends on it, its the dissonance of it that i dig.
@RoathRipper Try searching "Creative Guitar 1: Cutting Edge Tech" by Guthrie. Though its not a DVD series, it's close enough for now! Also, there are tons of written lessons that he has done for "Guitar Techniques" magazine, it just takes a little research to find.

Funny how many guitarists dont understand tension and resolution when playing. Joe Satriani talks about it and its a good ability to master.

2:47 begins a part which is so important and true for all students of this instrument. Absolutely agree.
