  • My sister, Nicole Engdahl, won homecoming queen this year at Arlington High School in Arlington, Nebraska. She also has downs. Shows how people are these days!

  • My son will be 4 in December. He has Downs. This video brought on major tears. These kids are amazing. People should give them a chance before casting their judgment. Kudos to this town, and especially to the students at this school!!!

  • No one better bully her or back talk about her cuz if so, I'm coming over and punching the brains out of them..

Anyway great story :D One of those stories that puts a smile on your face that humanity isn't a complete ass hole.

  • and just when I thought there was no hope left for humanity.

  • What a cool video. So great to see people who have Downs being fully accepted and fully included in their communities. No need to shun such incredibly loving people who are brilliant in their own sense. Stop the stigma!

  • this stuff actually happens? dang! who knew.

    i love her hair.

  • I kinda want to move to Aledo now, must be a wonderful place! ;)

  • That girls mother is a strong woman, and did a great job

  • Congrats!

    My sister has Down Syndrome,

and she is the coolest person I have ever met!

  • I have twin sisters whi both have severe downs they are only 5monts old and i like these videos especially this one so i can look forward too many years of joy. Well done christin you look amazing i hopr my sisters turn out like you ;) Xx

  • @shopiholic14 how do you know that they have severe downs at such a young age? my daughter is 5 months & we know that she has downs syndrome but all the doctors have told us that it is impossible to know whether a person has mild, moderate, or severe down syndrome until they are older & have the opportunity to develop more. you have to watch how they develop first before you put that label on their level of severity & 5 months of age is hardly enough time to tell.

  • i have a brother with down syndrome

  • My 8 month old son has Down syndrome, and I'm always in need of supportive friends. "Eye on Isaac (Genetically Enhanced w/ Down Syndrome)" on Facebook

  • Awesome man, why cant more people be like those in your school. I can tell ya, this shit wouldnt have happened at my school. Slower or less fortunate kids were made fun of treated poorly in my school. Like did you see the two semi-attractive girls that were at her house and seemed like they were friends with the girl. THAT is what im sayin. Girls like that in my school would have acted like it would've dulled their image. I hate to say it, but it makes me wander if these girls didnt become

  • I LOVEEEEE ITTTT!!!!!!!!

  • How inspirational! I too need a tissue now... May my little granddaughter, Mia (in Florida) who is now 9 months old, also join such a great school as Aledo and experience such joy one day... I applaud you Aledo - here from south Africa !!

  • Kristin is one fo the sweetest girls in the whole world. I have known her for roughly 5 years. She is so deserving of this award/honor. She is always so happy and loves life. I am so glad that I have made such a great friend like Krisitn. Everyday she sees me, she makes it a point to make sure I am ok, and I love that about her.

  • AMAZING

i think alot more should become homecoming queens.....

  • this was so beautiful, this is really inspiring, and it is true what her sister said, that everyone should be treated the same, but that is funny that she hasent taken her crown off, and if i were her, i wouldnt either, cause that something really to remember, especially her.

  • that is soooooooo neat..........God is sure playing a role in her life! She sure deserves it!!!!

  • wow...... that brought a tear to my eye....good for her!

  • people with down's syndrome have 3 copies of chromosome 21, where the majority of people only have two.

  • And all of God's children said,... "AMEN!"

  • god bless the queen:)

  • i have a sister with down syndrome and this story is just an amazing one to hear about. I'm glad that people are realizing that everyone is the same in one way or another. =]]

  • i like this video because i have down sydrem to

  • This was so sweet. I was at the football game with my friends in the stands when this happened. Everyone was sooooo happy. She really did deserve this, she so cool to hang out with,... and ahmen to what her friends say, people need to open they're eyes and see that every one is the same and that you should treat them the same way. Kirstin is loved by everyone in our town, and she should be, she's so awesome and I'm so glad that she was named homecoming queen.

  • her dad also died 2 years ago

  • my little is is ds she is soo cute and funny

  • she damn deserved it! way better than the usual girls who win it, its a popularity contest instead of a contest to show the best students in other schools. it is the person inside who wins, not on the outside. her classmates saw this so everyone is a winner for looking in there hearts to the for the best spirited girl in the school. Aledo is a very special school and the way other schools should be.

  • This happened AFTER a gal in a similar situation was crowned homecoming queen as well in Hankinson ND. It is great that these kids are coming together and realizing there's more to life than just some popularity contest.

  • Didn't mean to insult, guess I just took your comment the wrong way. :) I agree, she is adorable!

  • Love this story! I am so proud of her and thrilled for her entire family.

  • Just curious... who says she isn't popular? That's quite a narrow-minded assumption to make.

  • Someone cleaned my windows!

  • I know her, she is a nice person.

PS, any aledo people my family owns HARGIS plumbing

  • My family owns a nice trailer.

  • sweetheart, i'm so proud of you!

  • I started to cry with this video !!! Congrats on the crown.... it looks great on you

  • when i watched this i was so moved i started crying. so touching that in this world with so much wrong and people hurting each other, there are still ones that see the good and kindness in others. thank you for setting an example for all young youth everywhere, maybe us adults can take a lesson from this and learn to see beyond our differences and see we are all beautiful inside. old or young, black or white, gay or straight We are all gods children.

  • Kristen, you make my heart smile. Texas is a wonderful place to live.

  • What A beautiful girl God's perfect gift an angel that is here on earth

  • Kristen you are SO adorable. Thanks for bringing such joy in a time of so much turmoil.

  • I have renewed hope for this country if a group of teenagers could see past prejudices like that.
