we are in the same boat my friend my advice is just get outa the house when she drinks and come back in the moring or if you have nowhere to go call the cops they'll put her in the drunk tank where drunks belong
The main thing: If she's driving drunk, call the police! You truly have to do that before she ends up paralyzed or disfigured or dead, or causes such misfortune for others; you have to do this for the rest of us if not for her. And, like I said, perhaps Al-anon has some ideas. I don't want you to have to grow up in this. Maybe you could get relatives to help. Take pictures of the car on the lawn, etc. so she can't be in denial later. Best of luck.
I talked to someone today who recommended an "intervention". She stated that these are usually most effective when there is a lot of family/friends present ALONG WITH a mediator (i.e. a therapist or someone from AA). She said, though it's difficult and an individual choice, giving an ultimatum is often helpful. Good luck man.
yeah, thanks. I tried and ultimatum with my mom the other day. i threatened to move out of her life forever if she didnt quit - or at least get a therapist. She didnt do jack shit, so i was severely disappointed
P.S. Drunk driving aside, I'm concerned that you will see alcohol causing her health to fail anyway. I have with my mom. You've got to try something, and I wish I could tell you what. I've tried all that I can think of in my powers. I actually came upon your video while looking for something to help my mom's situation. Maybe if you have some success you can share. Thanks. Interesting listening to you talk. My momma's drunk all the time too. Similar situation, she gets trashed at home alone & often makes an ass of herself infront of my friends. First of all, you really need to report her to the police if she's driving drunk; she will likely kill someone else or herself otherwise. Maybe talk to Al-Anon?
