The American journalist is not a prisoner. He was interviewed by Russian TV. He said he was came to Tskhinvali when there was a battle there, along with two other journalists, then he was stopped by Ossetian militia and probably told to raise his hands. The journalists didn't understand that and tried to run away instead. This is how he got wounded. His colleagues were not so lucky. Such things happen in every war.
