To clarify this.. For the last time guys.. This is the update when the nether was released.. It was official.. When you create the server, you have a option in prefrences to make it "Hellworld" So i turned it on to see what happened. I logged on the server and did not like the look of it so i turned it back to normal world. When i logged on after that "This" happened.

Ok guys, here how this worked. Yes, its true the nether wasn't available in alpha 1.2, but the biome data was still there (after being put there in alpha 1.1). If its in the boime file, its possible for the game to misread it, instead of a biome that should be there. I bet you the neteher biome glitch caught here would be a mutiple of 16 (because it would be done in chunks).

yeah you do realize the outer walls of the nether are made with bedrock same with the ceiling and the floor. simple fact there...and heres the tricky part why are the walls and ceiling of your nether obsidian (probably painterly texture pack version of obsid for those of you who still think its bedrock) but anyway also why can you see underground caverns like you were...oh I don't know useing MCedit
