@Chameleonslove Start by him being in his cage and get say a command when he touchs the target than reward him soon he will know to touch it for reward make sure he knows how to fly than you can gain distance
I'm very pleased to see another recall exercise on You Tube, as they are far and few between! Thank you for posting! Seems to me the 2nd most fundamental thing after step-up, yet not very popular with viewers... After all, playing dead, turning around, etc. are all very cute, but if you cannot even recall your bird... (P.S. We use our budgie's toys as targets but we never reward him with food treats -- see, e.g., "Re-Recalled Budgie Li'l Babi" on my channel: to each his own!)
Thanks for the excellent video! Geronimo cannot fly! I fling him out in the grass and he only glides. Then he acts scared that I will do it again and holds on my hand for dear life.
I usually feed him small portions before playing with my pigeon. I know its harder because you really cant specify a treat for them. He is starting to get used to the knocking of the garage door, it comes right to myhand but it only just wants to go home....
Awesome video! Cute parrot! Im recently attempting to train my pigeon to come to me. I notice you give your parrot treats for when they fly to you, but I dont know if pigeons have any treats. I've raised my pigeon from when it was a baby, it follows me and everything but does not fly to my hand. I can pick him up and walk with it but once Its on the ground it just doesnt want to fly to my hand.
@rollingpureDont give him food 2 hours before start the training. This will help because he is going to be hungry. I dont know what pigeons eat but try using his food as treats. Tips: train him/she using the target training, is a lot more easier and faster.
can you learn this to an alexandrine parrot?
