@iAMThorn06 Yeah, their CURRENT drummer. This is a bloody old picture, don't you see? Remember Misha Mansoor from Periphery produced the first album for Tosin.
The first time I heard this song, I shit a brick out my ass so fast. It's uniqueness was just mind blowing. I'd be willing to sacrifice my testicles just to keep this band alive.
@jaretthale78 Matt Halpern, who played drums for AAL in 2009, or Chebon Littlefield who did bass and synth. I don't actually know which, but those are the only two other people ever to be part of AAL, so it must be one of them :P
Basically, I'm saying I assume it's a former member?
Theres definitly a very good toned melodic death metal sound its very beutiful since death metal has such a nice defined sound of jazz so it blends so well with the prog fusion.
@TheJaydoc702 well i do, but wat u said was that 'death metal has such a nice defined sound of jazz so it blends well with prog fusion' this is bollocks. death metal has none of jazz's inventiveness and none of its style, the 2 couldn't be more different. this is the same with prog, a genre created 2 move rock away from its formulaic structure where as metal just reveled in it. these 3 genres do not sit well together, this band sounds like a mess!
typical death metal bands, in my opinion, have nothing to do with jazz. This band is very unconventional and talented, thats why they are so able to make an amalgam out of 2 genres that couldn't be more different. I guess the similarity is they both have a heavy emphasis on rhythm. But besides some select grooves, I wouldn't say this band falls into the death metal category at all, then again, I wouldn't even try to categorize this music..
I agree with this. this isnt death metal by any stretch. yes, it has heavier riffs in certain songs, but that doesnt constitute it being a death metal sound. animals as leaders changes time signatures almost constantly, whereas a death metal band usually only carries one or two variations in time signatures throughout the song. this is what music is all about, though. no lyrics, no autotune, no nonsense. just music and art in its purest form.
@cssource True, its not even remotely death metal. But then if you would try to categorize them I would personally say they are a blend of several genre's and influences.
@TheJaydoc702Ohh and faact all genres carry some form of relation with one another.. SOrry deathmetal does has a defined similarity as jazz. and both the genres blend so well together. most new music is talented and unconventional thats what new is right different duhhh. and yes jazzz fusion prog.Melodic! sorry cry me a river it is what it is. and i never said this was death metal. of course it has different grooves! there mxing influences your just stating the obvious.
@TheJaydoc702 I have a feeeling you don't know what jazz is, and as a matter of fact, we have jazz to thank for every modern style of music including death metal, rock, pop, dance music, hip hop and everything under the sun. While -using four words to define a feeling being expressed by a style of music, is interesting; it doesn't come close conveying the feeling being expressed by the artists.
@cssource actualy im in a jazz combo at UNLV.. whatever Im done explaining like i cant have an opinion everybody has to comment and talksmack i was complementing the video give my view and now im just annoyed by people disagreeing when he says himself in videos.. Plus i never labbeled it in four words I didnt even call it a genre I just was stating attributes of it.
