  • Does anyone know if these times compare to Lance's 2001 time in this stage or Marco Pantani's time?

  • @youontwantnonnadis 2011 was a fairly slow climb of Alpe d'Huez... Pantani did it in 37:35 (almost certainly on EPO, though nothing's been proven), while Samuel Sanchez had the fastest climb this time at 41:21 with, more tellingly, Contador at 41:30.

It definitely supports the argument that the 2011 Tour was the cleanest in a number of years.

  • @h100spfld So what was Lance's time in 2001? I saw in an interview that Lance said Contador was better than he ever was, and the only times he could have competed with Contador were in 1999 and 2001.

  • @h100spfld An also, I'm 5'8 about 175 pounds. I've always had a muscular build and I'll never have the cycling genetics or physique of a 140 pound tour mountain climber. Do you have any advice on how I can get better at climbing hills? I understand we all have to work with the genetics we're born with and I could never be 140lbs to save my life. People say I can drop weight but I'll eventually plateau, or flat out. In high school my weight was usually close to and stayed around 160.

  • @youontwantnonnadis you have a similar build to Jan Ullrich. He was also not the norm. Just focus on power as he did. Cycle at a slower cadence with higher gears.

  • @h100spfld I really doubt Contador was clean. He was suffering on the days prior and out of nowhere he pulls out this massive attack. No just on the climb but the 100s of km before the climb started. I was on the mountain and it was sooo so hot, I could not believe how fast contador was climbing. I just don't believe he was clean that day.

  • @markyboy28able99 proof or gtfo.... Obviously clean, he wouldnt have bonked 3km to go otherwise. In ur logic, Andy was doped too coz he could follow that "massive attack"

  • "Commercial free...Brought to you by Nissan"!....Yeah right

  • I wonder about Contador's move early on this stage. Contador's attack was a big F-YOU to Andy Schleck. Andy had to mark it knowing the TT was a day away. I watched the stage thinking Leopard-Trek was going to put Voigt/Cancellara up front and launch the Schleck Brothers at the base of the Alpe.
