Carrier IQ is nothing more than a Data Mining Operation for Marketing Spammers. This is why it logs your txt messages, apps & key stokes. They want to know what you do, when you do it, & what you like, so they can sell this information to advertisers who will bombard you with Ads related to that. Carrier IQ in no way helps your carrier improve service. If your carrier cared about improving service, it would use the money to add more cell sites & not waste it on carrier IQ. Time to wake up folks

@dwilmer7 Oh, and I found on google job request for Carrier IQ. Wanting experts in dealing with multi terabyte to petabyte databases. That is enough storage for roughly 60 digital photos for each of the 150 million phones they installed on. Moreover, that is just the size of each database, there could be multiple databases for each carrier. That is a lot of digital real estate for a company that "doesn't capture keystrokes"

Any program that has the potential to log the actions and movements of any piece of hardware should be opt in.

The software is hidden while running and it already has every permission to the phone without the users knowledge, they didn't want you to find it and that make everyone question why.

Word of advice if you're reading this ciq, get out in front of this. Admit that yes, your software is capable of collecting personal information and fix it. Make it removable and opt-in. Most people don't know any better anyways. But at least you'll be giving them a choice.

@autubeninja There is another Carrier IQ vid on youtube narrated by a Mr. Coward (appropriate) and in that video there are graphics that show the data path going to their servers (probably located in China, Russia, or India), so yes, by their own admission they are able to and do port out information from your phone.
