The late brother Williams had spinal bifida. That prevented him from being drafted in WWII, and also led to his dependency on pain killers and alcohol. Its true he had his flaws, but I think he was a true believer. He's with Jesus now.
According to a musician friend of Hank's, Hank told him he had "been called to preach, but didn't answer the call." Of interest is that on the last Sunday of his life, Hank went to church but didn't sing a special. Hank knew months before that he was a doomed man. I like to think he "got right" there at the end...
Thanks for everything Mr. Williams. I know your down by the river, cane pole in the mud singin gospel songs with your momma. The world aint the same without ya.,
The amount of positive and negative comments only demonstrates the power of artisitic greatness. No one would bother to harrass each other if it were not under the umbrage of the work of such an amazingly imaginative man. His Maker took him home to wherever that may be. He deserved the rest and peace of death. I would imagine he welcomed it as does everyone who suffers.
if you like true country music you will love the man who started it all hank williams . they dont make country music like this anymore . hank you live on god bless sir
I have always loved Hank Williams and his songs are all classics now. This old song is one I grew up singing in church. Hank, Jr. is a really good singer - as long as he sticks to the good music. We saw him twice years ago and he was quite a showman. I have tried to listen to his son's music but it turned me off when he used so much profanity during a show he was doing which was made into a video. Hopefully that won't be his aim in life. Thank you for posting - Paula
Hey, that's one I've never heard him do before!!! Thanks for posting it!
I'm sure there are dozens more out there, and I wish they'd quit fightin' over 'em and get them all out here while there are still a bunch of Hank Sr. fans still alive!!
My comment was in response some other comment. Unfortunately our comments don't always respond with the actual quote! My Mom {who I love dearly) dosen't have dimentia, nor would I ever call her an idiot!
