The main route (south downs way) is simple enough to follow, the trails are a little harder to stumble upon. The main trail ( first serious single track) is called Lions Bank, a good OS map will show this. Look south west of Chanctonbury ring for a cross road (footpath) and the trail starts there. It finishes in the Wiston estate or on Mouse Lane depending on your route.

Definitely go ride this trail!!! I spend afternoons cycling in a huge circle to hit it over and over...

Is this ride dooable without using GPS?  Are the signs good enough to keep you on track.............

I was trying to decide whether or not to buy a bike, wanted to see what some of the local trails are like and this has pretty much made my mind up :) off to the bike shop we go!
