F.D.R. WAS NOT a good president! That is just what you learn in school. He instituted the harshest regulations on the free market of any president in history, planted the seed for many bloated bureaucracies such as the FDA and was the beginning of the end for sound Gold backed currency. It was his regime was the impetus for further bailouts and massive spending within our government for years to come, without WWII to boost the economy, he would have bankrupted our country.
Clinton repaired a lot of the ruin Reagan and Bush 1 caused on the USA. Too bad Bush 2 came along and destroyed it all again. Please pay close attention to the people behind the current batch of Republicans. DO NOT VOTE for the ones managed by the same people as Bush.
Everyone thought he was stupid, but I think what hurt Perot was his Vice President nominee.
He was a Joke!
But it's sad in a way cause Bush and Clinton kind of avoided Perot and acted like he wasn't really there.. I feel Perot was right though going back and listening to this more..makes you wonder why people won't stand up today and vote in an Independant.. I think it's time for one.
The Democrat poster-boy has been, since world war II, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Every modern progressive bill since has been modeled after the New Deal.
The issues they're talking about, outside of the Cold War, are the same issues we're dealing with in 2011. Nearly twenty years have passed and we're still talking about change, top down economics, and a governor touting his record of job growth. Definition of insanity anybody?
That's because for the last 20 years we've been voting canidates from the same two establishments which are really two sides of the same coin. Back then, the election should have gone to Ross Perot. This election, it should go to Ron Paul.
If people knew the women he's raped and the people he's killed if you heard this this prostitute breeding piece of shit was going to your child's college to speak you would pull them out of that college. When this bastard speaks he should not be able to get a word out, before someone said, " Bill where is your black son you had with the black prostitute. Remember Bill when you used to screw all those black prostitutes in Little Rock". Even better if his wife and daughter are right there.
I disagree that Clinton is the poster boy of the Dems..it's always been Kennedy.. Just before Clinton left office he did two things that screwed us.. #1 he signed the China Trade Bill of 2000 and #2 he deregulated the derivatives that brought us the sub-prime debacle, which brought down our economy..
@greg4161 No way. I'm a proud Reagan conservative, and Bill Clinton did nothing for this country. It was the policies of Ronald Reagan, along with the Republican-controlled Congress that made our economy prosperous during the late 90s. We had 8 years of peace and prosperity under George W. Bush, which is now being ruined by Obama. Clinton tried to take credit for everything that Reagan did.
@sean2015 are you nuts?? how could Reagan be responsible for a surplus during CLINTON'S administration? the federal deficit was 290 billion dollars when Clinton came into office, and in 1994, the first fiscal year for Clinton's term, he turned that deficit into 95 billion. 4 short years later, he turned the deficit into a SURPLUS of 70 billion and by 2000, the federal gov't had 86 billion in the green. this was all blown by 2002 when Bush took office. check your facts.
@sean2015 maybe an objective position might help here. I'm from Ireland and I can tell you most assuredly that Reagan fundamentally bankrupted the American economy through 'Reaganomics' and progressive de-regulation. Reaganomics is the policy of using up all available economic resources i.e. pensions, health insurance etc. as chips on a global gambling and speculative market.
Clinton = smart guy, who not only brought the American economy back into the black, but also elevated the USA globally
@sean2015 and in that statement, you prove how deluded, closed-off, unintelligent and backward you are. :)
Just because Irish people don't vote (Which I didn't claim ) in American elections, it does not mean we don't see things clearly from a distance. Au contraire.
That's what I meant by ''an objective position". God......I feel so embarrassed for you right now.
@LiamMacSuibhne You can express as many opinions about our presidents as you want, all I'm saying is that those opinions mean nothing over here as far as: 1) who runs for office, and 2) who gets elected.
If you like, you Irish could even have your own "pretend election" for US president, knock yourselves out. Unfortunately the only ballots they're going to count are the ones cast here in the states. That's just the way it is.
You got balls! see what has happened again, Bush JR went in to office reverted everything Clinton did and look what we have now?? why is it that it takes a recession to vote a republican out?!?
Yes, I'm a huge FDR fan. He was a man of great vision and a bold leader. He was clearly a man of the people and did not let corporate and other special interests control his agenda. He lifted millions of americans out of poverty during the great depression similiar to the current economic downturn which was a direct result of corporate elitism promoted by the Republican party. I would bet my bottom dollar you are a fan of Pres Moron ( george bush).
We should have elected Perot. People, there is no difference between the Democrats and Republicans. They get their money from the same people. They're in bed with the same special interest groups. They create the same problems. If you think that there is a huge difference between the two parties then you are niave. Vote third party.
@springjo1 the thing that seems to be a diiference to the two is, The Republicans seem to favor the rich while the Democrats favor the poor. that's one big difference I see.

@ttiiyy Well I think most liberals realized they needed an ideological idol to be able to site as their political jesus. You can see it in conservatives too today as they site Reagan as god, and liberals site clinton.
@Betty5150 the glory of clinton is that he was fiscally conservative. socially, quite liberal, i agree. but his monetary policies were overwhelmingly conservative. Not, obviously, in the sense of neo-conservatism., but instead that he could tolerate social misfortune and global wrongdoing, while simultaneously keeping this country fiscally sound. and i would never, ever, ever, sit down with the man in a debate. he's an animal
@Betty5150 well, Liberals also priase guys like FDR, JFK, and Lincoln. They were all pretty liberal. as far as Republicans are concerned, If Teddy, or Eisenhower, or Nixon were to run today, the republicans would say they are too liberal to be republican.
Clinton lied to the American people outright. Why would we want him back in. I do think Kennedy was a good president. But he set the economy up for failure that 9/11 and Katrina set off for Bush. He was good. But he did lie to the American people.
"We aren't coming apart at the seams, for heaven's sakes. We're the United States of America". Wow. Really??? Is that really the best you can do? Explains why your son also screwed stuff over.
@TwilightFrosting Bill Clinton saved US and its repuation? How? How did he save the US? What trouble was the US in? Jobs flowing to foreign countries? Did Clinton solve that problem? NOPE. After he signed NAFTA, imports from Canada and Mexico replace what could have been made in the US.
To be fair to Clinton, stupid Republicans made things worse by helping out China and other countries through stupid free trade agreements.
I just don't see how Clinton is any better than Bush.
the republicans should have nominated ross perot for president of the united states. he was very conservative in his views and would have run the country like a business. the republicans should have seen that bush was not going to win and should have given perot their nomination.
Perot was not well liked by the Republican establishment and though he was conservative, he was for changing the system that was supporting the Republican (and Democratic) Party. They saw him as being dangerous, in other words.
Running the country like a business was similar to what Bush did/ tried to do and that would have been a horrible experience.
@jbfootballkid Actually, back then a lot of people thought that Bush will be re-elected as his approval rating after the first term was high. That's why many strong Democrat candidates decided on not running for the primary (Except for Al Gore who didn't run because his son had an accident). Clinton won because he himself is good, strong ticket with Al Gore, and some bad late policies and results by Bush.
@chaset51 I agree and I was a total Perot "mark" (fan) but he was very arrogant, a bad campaigner and sadly - couldn't deal with all the B.S. so he flaked out a little. He peaked too early.
Republicans and Democrats are the same you sheep. They both work for the same international bankers. This why you get slapped after every election just like the ho that runs away from one pimp to get to another. Perot tried to save you but you went with Trilateral Clinton. Noticed they closed the loopholes so now Ron Paul (the Perot of today) is completely marginalized. Obama is CFR just like Clinton. It's almost over for you sheep. Bankers win again.
...OKC bombing, repeated Clinton scandals, Tamil Tigers terror campaign, numerous missed chance to catch Bin Laden, embassy bombings, Kosov War, Enron, Columbine…
Perot was considered a wing-nut back then, but Perot seems like a sage today. Oh, side note. Notice how tan Clinton is... I have never seen him so tan. Really trying to repeat the Nixon/Kennedy debate, clever ol' slick willy.
@DJxFaded And not a single Republican willing to be Americans and support the President of the United States. Shame how history certainly repeats itself.
As a history major, we deal with 'collective memory' and and the creation of 'meta-narratives' for every time period. People tend to idealize these times and forget the bad and remember the good. My point is the 90's were NOT all peaches and cream like I hear so many people mention (often from Clinton supporters or young people)
It was an incredibly turbulent and vitriolic time. And it was during this time the USA was sold out by both parties.
The 1990’s: AIDS, Gulf War I, apartheid till 1994, Exxon Valdez, the USSR till 1991, massive earthquake in Iran, the PLO and the Lebanese civil war, too many US serial killers to name, too many airline crashes to name, Rodney King beating, LA riots, Haitian turmoil, IRA bombings, Hurricane Andrew, Waco & David Koresh, Bosnia War & genocide, Somalia genocide, Rwanda genocide, NAFTA and the giant sucking sound begins, OJ Simpson hysteria, Mexico’s Gov’t almost collapses...
Well, I can't believe people still buy all these tired, cliched bullsh*t coming from all of them. There is no straight talk from any one of them and the whole appeal to emotions, dodging of real issues and most important of all, simply refusing to say anything that contradicts the cardinal rule of American politics: never make the voters feel bad about themselves, therefore, all we have is "people're great", "you guys are the best", you know what? That's pure bullsh*t only 2 year old believes.
What a race....never been anything like it before or since. THREE excellent choices, all going at it, with their A-game, in a debate, fighting to lead a nation that had just been stung by a horrible recession.
To those who weren't around and imagine it must have been great, it was, and then some. Just an amazing race.
Mr Perot was clearly the least practiced as a high level politician. Perot had much more logic and substantive content, but much the poorer presentation. It was to me a kind of argument against this sort of debate: the more "spin" the better the debater.
fux clinton bush reagan carter ford nixon johnson kennedy einsenhower and oh yeah obama too truman's bitch ass both roosevelts however far back you want to go, they've all been sluts for the upper upper business class. even the few slightly not-rabidly capitalist things JFK did got him whacked by the gangsters in the national insecurity state. no president can do things to help real people if he wants to live
the part that is really ironic is how Clinton claimed that he is such a change from trickle down economics, tax cuts for the rich, and de-regulation...and yet this is exactly what he continued as president.
We enjoyed one of the best surpluses in American history under the Clinton, god he should get elected again. Clinton's responses were both eloquent and on target as you can feel that he really wants change and feels the American people. Ross Perot is not bad either as he makes good points. Bush sounds better in public but still lacks understanding...saying how Clinton trying to scare people, but running for presidency means addressing problems not sitting back BUSH!
@MiChiaL93 Actually, under Clinton he signed into law NAFTA, which expanded free trade and costed millions of Americans their manufacturing jobs. We also had one of the biggest tax increases in U.S. history as well. Clinton was nothing more than a liar and a weasel as well.
@willhunting1995 But also, the numbers don't lie. You can look at the hard data at find that in the previous administrations and the current ones. The federal deficit declined at a faster rate during his administration and kept that way. When we reached the bush administration, due to bush's tax cuts and funneling of money to the iraq war, those deficits rose again surpassing what Clinton had accomplished.
@MiChiaL93 But, the natioal DEBT actually INCREASED under Clinton's watch. Deficits are really a matter of accounting, nothing more, it's the National DEBT that actually effects the American people. All that happened under Clinton was that the federal government was taking in as much money as it was paying out, even though the early part of his administration contributed to the national debt as well. When Bush took office, he had a recession left by Clinton to deal with, as well as 9/11.
Holy shit! Obama totally ripped off Clinton '92 campaign messaging! like a blatant ripped off! know wonder they were so pissed off at him. Hope and change! Wow! Bill Clinton FTW! NAFTA though.... that pretty much fucked everybody didn't.... too bad
My great prediction - Obama will be reelected in 2012, do pretty well his last four years, but will finish with some kind of sexual scandal. Then in 2016, some dumbass Republican will come back and fuck it up again.
@Deepsand101 Obama will definintely be a one-term president, he's already down to 41% in approval ratings, the economy has gotten worse, we are deeper than ever in Afganistan, and Americans are getting fed up with Obama's policies!
@gggfausto Well, Clinton's economic policies did serve better than Bush, and so far Obama's (but Obama is a completely different case with different issues). He's by far the best leader we've had in the past 40 years.
@Deepsand101 Clinton was one of the worst presidents in history who was impeached for lying under oath to a federal grand jury and for passing some of the biggest tax increases in history.
@theolivetree95

Clinton lied to the American people outright. Why would we want him back in. I do think Kennedy was a good president. But he set the economy up for failure that 9/11 and Katrina set off for Bush. He was good. But he did lie to the American people.

Here's the difference between Bush and Clinton - Clinton practically saved U.S and its reputation. Bush killed it and burned it to ashes.
TwilightFrosting 1 year ago
@TwilightFrosting Clinton lied to America. Bush did the best he could in a bad situation.
ayellerbird 1 year ago
@TwilightFrosting Bill Clinton saved US and its repuation? How? How did he save the US? What trouble was the US in? Jobs flowing to foreign countries? Did Clinton solve that problem? NOPE. After he signed NAFTA, imports from Canada and Mexico replace what could have been made in the US.
To be fair to Clinton, stupid Republicans made things worse by helping out China and other countries through stupid free trade agreements.
I just don't see how Clinton is any better than Bush.
ttiiyy 11 months ago
the republicans should have nominated ross perot for president of the united states. he was very conservative in his views and would have run the country like a business. the republicans should have seen that bush was not going to win and should have given perot their nomination.
jbfootballkid 1 year ago
Perot was not well liked by the Republican establishment and though he was conservative, he was for changing the system that was supporting the Republican (and Democratic) Party. They saw him as being dangerous, in other words.
Running the country like a business was similar to what Bush did/ tried to do and that would have been a horrible experience.
Thucydides2004 1 year ago

This list was in no way a blame Clinton list.

Mr Perot was clearly the least practiced as a high level politician. Perot had much more logic and substantive content, but much the poorer presentation. It was to me a kind of argument against this sort of debate: the more "spin" the better the debater.

the part that is really ironic is how Clinton claimed that he is such a change from trickle down economics, tax cuts for the rich, and de-regulation...and yet this is exactly what he continued as president.
bafeet 1 year ago
We enjoyed one of the best surpluses in American history under the Clinton, god he should get elected again. Clinton's responses were both eloquent and on target as you can feel that he really wants change and feels the American people. Ross Perot is not bad either as he makes good points. Bush sounds better in public but still lacks understanding...saying how Clinton trying to scare people, but running for presidency means addressing problems not sitting back BUSH!
MiChiaL93 1 year ago
@MiChiaL93 Actually, under Clinton he signed into law NAFTA, which expanded free trade and costed millions of Americans their manufacturing jobs. We also had one of the biggest tax increases in U.S. history as well. Clinton was nothing more than a liar and a weasel as well.
willhunting1995 1 year ago
@willhunting1995 But also, the numbers don't lie. You can look at the hard data at find that in the previous administrations and the current ones. The federal deficit declined at a faster rate during his administration and kept that way. When we reached the bush administration, due to bush's tax cuts and funneling of money to the iraq war, those deficits rose again surpassing what Clinton had accomplished.
MiChiaL93 1 year ago
@MiChiaL93 But, the natioal DEBT actually INCREASED under Clinton's watch. Deficits are really a matter of accounting, nothing more, it's the National DEBT that actually effects the American people. All that happened under Clinton was that the federal government was taking in as much money as it was paying out, even though the early part of his administration contributed to the national debt as well. When Bush took office, he had a recession left by Clinton to deal with, as well as 9/11.

Since Clinton took office he served the financial leaders. So did George W. and so does Obama. Always claiming to serve the people.

@gggfausto Well, Clinton's economic policies did serve better than Bush, and so far Obama's (but Obama is a completely different case with different issues). He's by far the best leader we've had in the past 40 years.
