And HYGIENE was so important back then. There is no reason why a grown college aged student should have the same breath 'aroma' comparable to a DOG'S!
Does anyone know the title of a book I'm looking for? It has a red and white cover and the illustration in the book are either red or black. It is a vintage book and it tells you how to do different hair styles, like pin curls and victory rolls. Thanks!
Wow! This was actually very helpful to me. I had forgotten some of these basic things, so I am very happy to have this to remind me! *favorited* *subscribed*
its one thing if they are camping, but i see so many young women that wear baseball caps and baggy hoodies on dates or out for dinner and its like what are you wearing?! Get dressed?!
I wish girls would act like this today. They need to teach this stuff like makeup. poster, manners, proper things to wear. I know a lot of people who need that lesson -_-
I always wonder how the ladies back then were so pretty. They were naturally beautiful & didnt have to have all the products we have today to make them look beautiful.
Why don't we have this anymore...This is why women were so beautiful back then. They were all unique, a piece of art, only using makeup and clothes to enhance their inside beauty. Today, it's how much money you spent on your eyeshadow, how much you tease your hair, how tan you are. It's covering up what you naturally have so you can take off more of your clothes and make other people happy. I'd like to tell any woman reading this, that you ARE beautiful. Don't change. <3
It's amazing to me that the women are really "white" I've gotten so used to seeing people with tans and bronzers and stuff and it really is new to see them with thier "real" skin color.
Look how pale they all look! And today women are so darned obssesed with being tan that they look orange! Well screw that! I take pride in my pale skin! And if I'm going to get skin cancer, I'm going to do it naturally. Not by laying in a bed made of lights!!!!
@soccer69heit : Its funny how you mention about the pale look. Back then, a pale complexion was linked with someone that had money...if you had money you were more likely to stay indoors hence a darker color was linked to someone that did manual labor outside. Now however, a darker skin color is linked to vitality and having the ability to go outside the home. But I am all for a paler look...I mean it looks lovely as the sun sags and unevens skin tone ;)
@SkateAndCheerGirl Aw, no - naturally brown is beautiful - I look like a ghost LOL It's those stupid orange tans that girls use these days that look ugly.
Im a teen, and even if i love the "modern styles" (which are actyally copies of past styles and eras) im in love with this, it's beautifull, chic, smart and glamorous.
Haha Sitting up writing letters is the equivalent of texting all night when you should be sleeping. :D it's a disease that hasn't been cured through the generations..
@grammardog it has come to my attention that natural meant "no foundation, a SMIDGE of mascara, if any...and well blotted lipstick and light powder. " I wouldve been happy if someone taught me that as a teen. its not in the color one wears...but in application.:)
@safehouse123 I think you can wear more makeup then mascara and still look natural, but it depends on your age. 13-15 year olds should stick to next to no makeup, like what you suggested. But I think neutral eyeshadows, and lightly applied eyeliner can look natural if you know how to do it right. Too many girls go crazy with the eyeliner and thick, mask like foundation. They should teach grooming or beauty in hi school because it is important in the real world, looking pulled together.
@tango2470 Definitely. These women actually wore little make up, especially "country girls" In some circles, foundation was a big no no, still. Today i think its even easier to look natural, because of the various mineral make ups available now.
Ps...i also think its a great function of those new make ups that they are easy to blend....and even the more daring shadow colors are soft:) Definitely an improvement on the 80's. Why if I had access to those as a teen, im sure my skin wouldve been better. :) Then theres Youtube tutorials...i learned a new eyeshadow technique and everyone loves it. :)
This was fantastic. So prim and proper. I find it interesting that they were concerned about diet and exercise back then too. I always seem to think of it as a modern day obsession.
@kendoprincess i agree. It seems the Modern Idea of "beauty" or "glamour" consists of too tight, ill fitting clothes, cylicone implants and botox, and ten pounds of makeup.
I absolutely adore all these videos. They're so interesting! I seem to only be able to work the just got out of bed/heroin addict/shaggy look unfortunately. I will never be glamorous and polished like that :(
@LilySoSo I think the beauty routine of a modern day teenager would include: Find the lowest cut top, and lowest cut, tightest jeans you can possibly find, no matter what your body type is, bra straps are a must, and butt cracks are acceptale. Apply a thick mask like layer of foundation, and a pound of eyeliner. Bleach hair as blonde a it can go without it falling out, If breasts are small save up for surgery because you arent pretty. No offence, this doesnt apply to everyone but it does a lot
