Harley Ignition switch removal from a 2009 Street Glide

I installed a painted inner fairing this weekend, and the only problem I had was this dang switch. Went and bought the HD tech manual. Their ignition alignment tool is $98.95!! I found one on the Internet for $25. We'll see. I love my '07 Ultra Classic, but screw you HD for making everything so expensive!!!! Seriously? A hundred bucks for a piece of metal?

I followed your video and after installing the switch It's locked in the in the straight on off position. I can't turn the switch in either direction and can't release with the detent as I can't turn it either way.

I didn't have my handle bars turned to the far left. Maybe my tumblers weren't aligned.

Any help on how can get this fixed?

very well done! however I have a little variant of the situation. 2007e.glide has the same lock, in my case I locked the bike for the night and the the next morning, put the key in the lock as I have done for the past 5 years and the key wont turn. So my bike has the steering locked and I am not able to move the lock.or turn the key. anyone has any recommendation to help, I am in the Philippines and no HD dealer here. Thank you!

Hi, I have a 1999 Ultra glide but the switch is different. The key goes in to a switch and you have to leave the key in, there is no lock that this video removes, any idea how to remove this please? thanks

just did chrome forks you bailed me out of a jam thank you need that cover off to get at the shock bolts thanks again

Fantastic video - Thanks so much for sharing... This switch has caused me lots of grief but think I can now manage it... Any suggestions for fixing the switch "popping out" inappropriately? Think it has to do with the little tang underneath...
