Hey guys for this cool project that someone has done to raise awareness of Alzheimer's disease. Nice way to experience the disease. Just thought I'd share it with you all. It is the sortmeout.sg
I'm climbing Kilimanjaro in Feb 2012 to raise £5000 for the Alzheimer's Society. Text VMNE84 £1 to 70070 to sponser me £1 (the whole £1 goes directly to the Alzheimer's Society). Money helps to fund ongoing research and provide support for family with Alzheimer's. Think your right @RickE1poker...what goes around comes around
Is it possible to have sings at age 30? I read old journals of mine from 6 years ago and I don't even know how I had such a vocabulary. Yesterday I tried to plug in my wallet because I thought it was my phone.
@TristanCrider maybe you are just a naturally clumsy/forgetful person? have you been stressed out a lot?
Losing vocab is nothing that strange; the amount of words you can store depends on your IQ and it naturally declines over the decades. Plugging in your wallet is a might weird though, so I would see a doc. IDK if Alzy's occurs at that age, but there are plenty of other brain wasting diseases which do. Not to scare you, but its better to be on the safe side.
Last month I had a few drinks with some work buddies, & I decided we should play a trick on my Father-in-Law (who has Alzheimer’s).
We turned up at his house & the guys pretended to be UN Criminal Court Officers, here to interrogate him over the killing of civilians in Vietnam. The old guy fell for it completely- we questioned him for over 2hrs & he was a total shivering wreck when we left!
He talks about the incident, but my wife just thinks it’s his persecution paranoia getting worse.
@SuperTruth77 ... You will reap what you sew. When your time comes (and it will) you can only hope no one will treat you as you have treated others. Why you don't get the part of life called Karma or what goes around, comes around is beyaond me. Truly you are a hatefull person.
@SuperTruth77 ... How did your wife feel about you treating her father like that? I would have had to kill you with my bare hands if you treated my dying mother (with Alzheimers) like that.

this lady Sharon Snir wrote an inspirational book on how to deal with family members with dementia and alzheimers. i highly recommend watching her youtube video. its called:
"Looking For Lionel-How I Lost and Found my Mother through Dementia"
I went to see my friend who has this hideous disease. I felt so sorry for him.. Not only does this disease take your love one away, it stresses loved ones to the core!
@padude64 I see that you are concerned about your friend and had to post something. I can see what else I can post of what I find out about this disease. Sometimes I feel as if I have it, at 25. Anyway, I read about this Dr. that helped her husband with the disease with four teaspoons a day of Coconut Oil? It's not expensive; google it and check it out and other alternatives; this is just new to me though.
My grandfather had this disease for about 7 years before he passed away January 2011. I hate Alzheimer's. It took away all his memories. I believe in the last few days of his life however, he was healed because he spoke to us after not speaking for over a week. It was coherent and appropriate for the first time in a while. I pray one day we find a cure.
@sebbo 77 this will probably upset you but I garentee it will get worse :( it sucks my nan died of it late September and she suffered with it for five years, and at the end she far herself up to the disease by not eating for months, at the end she was unrecognisable and a basic empty shell. I'm saying this because this is mainly what will be happening in future times but differently on the basis of your loved one xx
@DeusUniversa10 THANK YOU.WE NEED MORE NURSES THAT WANT THEIR PATIENTS TO FEEL LOVE.THEIR DIGNITY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO THEM (ALZHIEMER'S PATIENT).FOR TWENTY YEARS I'VE WORKED WITH PATIENT'S THAT HAVE SUFFERED THIS TERRIBLE DISEASE,EITHER IN NURSING HOME SETTINGS OR PRIVATE DUTY CAREGIVER IN THEIR HOMES,HOSPITAL,OR NURSING HOME.I LOVE MY JOB.I LOOK FORWARD TO EACH DAY WITH MY PATIENT'S.I WANT TO SEE THEM HAPPY FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE.I TRY TO MAKE THEIR FINAL DAYS OF SANE MEMORY AS GREAT AS I CAN
@SuperLynn1970 more then anything. i hate watching videos on the news of people in nursing homes being beat by nurses, my mom went to nursing school and the family is making her designated care taker of everyone because they don't trust the system, i dont blame them and if that was my dad, i couldn't handle it.
@DeusUniversa10 its hard, my mom did it, but if you could only do one thing the whole day, its get to know your patient and don't just "give up" on them. a women my mom worked with wouldn't eat. my mom washed her face and then she ate. she did that every morning and the woman ate. the other nurses just though "well she just wont eat"
This disease robs me of my dad. You're lucky you've had you're parents for so long. My dad was diagnossed when i was 12. He's in the moderate-late stage. It's messed around my life. but i dont give up hope.

My dad is going through Alzheimers. He is having trouble counting money and I'm always there with him so people don't rip him off. When he went to the bank last week he showed his car licence instead of his bank card. I've actually quit my job just to be his full time carer. I do it for love. I want to be there because I just can't stand to see him go down like this. This is a shocking illness. I pray for anyone out there who is going what I am going through. This is a horrible downward spiral.
children and they decided to keep me i feel special and i am trying to figure out a way how to join memory walk and i am in relay for life from my dads x wife
my father who married a woman before my foster mom died of cancer and now he has to deal with my foster mom and raise four kids i love my dad for everything he does for me and i cant believe he can go threw this his whole family died except his brother who he never talks to because his wife hired my foster mother as a house maid and she treated her like shit my dad met her and fell in love my mother was ilegal for crossing the boarder my mom and dad moved into a house and help raise all foster
my foster mom has it the worse it can be she stays in her bed 24/7 she cant speak at all only scream she doesnt know who anyone is she cant walk she just cant move at all im 14 years old helping my foster famliy taking care of her its very sad that i didnt even get a chance to tell her i love her for taking me into her home i was a newborn when she started to get alzheimers my sister cant do what she wants to do her dreams of being a writer she has to stay and helps us i feel terrible about this
does anyone know how to avoid this as well as memory loss? iv smoked weed for 2 years n quit clean for 7 months now n i forget stuff often like i wouldent remmber wht conversation i was having last week with my friend i dont know if its the weed or lack of sleep or maby im just not paying attention to what people tell me idk wat im just confused bout all this
@TrueDominguez well dude its probably the marijuana killing your brain cells thats what I hear it does I smoke every couple months as well but u can only get alzheimers when u get to be in your 60's so nothing to wurry about bro
@finalfantasymovies na but i quit i smoked that shit straight for 2 years n went sober for 9 months now but in any case how can i avoid this disease i dont wanan get it at all weather im 60 or 80 i rather die then have this horrible disease appreciate ur responce
I know how everyone feels my grandfather has alzheimers. Though it may not be as physically painful as cancer and other terminal illnesses, it is the most painful emotionally. Everyday i see a man who once had the world at his finger tips struggle with the most everyday functions. It's so heartbreaking.
While there is no cure yet, there are studies that show some prevention steps you can take. New book by former CNN correspondent Jean Carper has over 200 research studies that that show preventing onset is possible.
Thank you for this clear and easy-to-understand video. We have made the fluoride - Alzheimer's disease link. See our video on "Fluoride - the good, bad and alternatives". This is a very serious condition that starts in very avoidable ways.
alzhiemer is the last disease i want to get, bring on cancer bring on the flu just not alzhiemer though i would rather be the one to get it than watch anyone in my family go through it
Finally, a video that isn't pestered by these anti-psychiatry,neurology Scientology nutcases. Best wishes to all who have a relative suffering of Alzheimer's Disease.
its all you can do is look at the bright side.my mom lives with me and my wife & is at the point of entering stage 3. It is heart breaking but at the same time it makes for some funny stories. we stopped feeling bad about laughing along time ago.its all we can do at this point .we are going on to 9 yrs & I believe a change of scenery so drastic as hospitalization would spiral her so we will keep her until its no longer in her best interest and it doesnt put too much strain on us
@pdfontana My grandfather has this disease. Down in North Carolina this year he was always wanting to leave and was being indignant towards my grandmother. He would be like, "I'm going to drive home now because i don't like it here." My dad or another family member would have to go saw to him, "hey what are you up to" calmly. He always loved going there, but now my grandparents can't go anymore and they have been going for 35 years. He still knows who we are though. O well, what can you do?
My sister sufferred from Alzheimer for 36 years until we met a helper who worked in Alzheimer Association few months back. Now both her legs are considering "cure", only left some little scars. Thank you for Shah's help!
I am now decided to join for care group in the association too. If you need any of my help, do not hesistate to email me at:

Look on the brightside. They can watch repeats on th the television all day long and not get bored, and as for jokes you can tell them the same one day after day and they will still think it funny. Like this one, The doctor said I have some good news and bad news what would you like first? The patient said the bad news, the doctor said you have Alzheimer's Disease, oh fuck sakes, the patient what's the good news? The doctor said well in a couple of months you will know nothing about it.
@cooldit1 No your not youhave a sense of humour.Try this the doctor said to the patient we have some good news and some bad news what do you want first? He said the bad news the doctor siad we have ammputated the wrong leg Oh shit said the patient whats the good news? The doctor said thother one is getting better.

Our late dad had alzheimer's and he went from not knowing where he was to not knowing what to say, to not knowing our names, to not being able to walk to keeping his eyes closed the entire time without saying a word until he caught pneumonia and after two weeks he passed away. All these within 7 years. I watched my mom living with this and it broke my heart.
Just to let you guys know there is a guy with the user name
AlzheimerHELP
that sends people private messages saying that Alzheimer's is curable- you only have to pay him for his service. Don't listen to him; he is a complete scam and only takes money from the elderly by promising them something they wished in all their heart was true. Alzheimer's is NOT CURABLE, at least right now. He is LYING and ONLY WANTS YOUR MONEY. Just a heads up.
Tell me about it. This asshole told me that he read my comments and his only reaction was to tell me that Alzheimers was curable and he even gave me a long list of numbers to contact in Croatia. People like that make me sick and they should be jailed for trying to pull off something like that, without having any emotional regard for others who are suffering through this.
Here is a helpful program that observations have shown to reduce wandering. Memory Programs has designed over 3000 digital slides controlled by remote control. Observation have show less wandering, less violence, and less volatile behavior when used in Dementia Care facilities.
My mother is in a nursing home and she's in the beginning stages of this horrible disease. She's now starting to lose all memory of certain things and people, especially me, and she didn't reconize me the last time I went to go see her. I had to keep on explaining to her who I was several times until she finally calmed down and allowed me to visit her. This is a horrible disease and my heart goes out to those who have it and for those whose loved ones have it.
@RogueTheElfWarrior1 I am going through the same thing with my best friend. He fel from the kichen chair onto his face on the floor. I am going to see him on Good Friday. I hate this disease!
sighhh this just makes me even more sad because my grandma had to go through this.. wish this sickness never existed.. idk.. those of you who went through this or are going through this with their loved one, be strong.. <3 and that your loved one will be strong also. :(
so hard to watch a parent go through this...Im 21 :( ruins lives of families! your life plans destroyed, my dad will not be able to walk me down the asile, he will never see his grandkids :(
and "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." -- Gandhi ...Will you finish off your cat when it develops Alzheimer?
@judyroodi "maybe they should be given an injection to finish them off, when they become a burden for their daughters, they are a drain on society"...An interesting advice of an aging mother to her daughter and of a person who boasts on her channel : "The value of a society is based upon its kindness to animals."--Albert Schweitzer

My grandmother is going through this right now. It is so sad. I have only seen my dad cry once, when my brother died, and now every time we have her over or go visit her at the assisted living place he wont be the same for the rest of the day. I can't see my father or any other loved ones in the state my grandmother is now, And I never want to burden my loved ones with the emotional tole that Alzheimer's can place on someone
My mom has it.She is so bad,It breaks my heart. She doesn't know anyone,She says the mostr bizarre things. She does not eat solid fodo. She can't walk, she weighs 68 lbs. I hate this disease.
Welcome into the group ,i hate this disease with a passion also i am watching my father dying little by little from it . I just cry when i go visit him. Terrible.
@Phenom7896 Son of a bitch! My mother did die! How dare you say anything about my mother! You have no idea. If I could get my hands on you,you wouldn't be laughing, you sorry bastard.
What about self identity does that go away as well I don't mean they forget their name but I mean they loose the feeling of being an individual? and since theres so many gaps in memory would their grasp on reality weaken since they forget so many details and minor events. Like watching a movie but only being able to watch a few minutes at a time.
I think all cognition was lost at the end stages of my grandfather's Alzheimer's. Eventually you cannot create memories, cannot recall the past, and cannot make sense of what is going on around you. I think I would be like someone mashing up your memories and eventually removing them all together.
The attention span of an alzheimer's patient is very short. Movie's are good, but try TV shows instead. they're short, you have more variety and it's less expensive. Entertaining will be difficult nonetheless.
My greatgrandmother suffers from this. She doesn't recognize people for 10 years. She can't walk, she can't eat. She's 91 years old. On the other hand my other greatgrandmother just died and she was fine. She was lucid, she could walk, she could eat... I wouldn't even giver 91. She looked like she was 70.
@entheomycophagist She's already dead. It's not her anymore. It's just the body working. Nothing else. And she's been like that for years! I even prefer that she dies. As an alive body (not person, body), it's not worth to prolong her life anymore.
I am so sorry for any people affected by this terrible condition. My grandfather suffered for many years with mental diseases that destroyed his life. God truly rest his lovely soul.
my grandmother on my mom's side has this desiese but her obsession is that she thinks that she is talking with other people when really i'm the only one there. but to make matterss worse!!! she is BLIND!!! wow. I hate to admit it but she gets REALLY REALLY ANNOYING!!!
and thats because she talks alllllll day long like no kidding even when she's eating. ya her condition is sooo sad.
My mom has this illness. Sometimes she thinks my dad is a stranger in the house. She is taking medication. The doctor says it will only delay its effects.
my dad has this illness and I think that having videos like this to watch is helpful to people and gives them ideas of what to expect and how to understand the illness more. My dad is in mid stages now and what the doctor said on here relates tomy dad.
my dads going thru this right now and ive never known heartache like it. im only 25 and i have to watch my dad suffer like this... i would honeslty give anything to have him bk x x x
@rockybabes1234 I'm sorry to hear about your dad. My thoughts are with you and you are not alone. I lost my mom to Alzheimers almost two years ago. She had no idea who I was the last year of her life. I wish I could go back in time to say I love you......just one more time.
@rockybabes1234 im only 21 and im dead inside because iwasnt the best son and he dosnt get to watch me change plus my younger brother is in jail for 4 years so he possibly wont even get to hold his dad again. hes only 59!!

@SuperLynn1970 more then anything. i hate watching videos on the news of people in nursing homes being beat by nurses, my mom went to nursing school and the family is making her designated care taker of everyone because they don't trust the system, i dont blame them and if that was my dad, i couldn't handle it.
mcrlpbamluver 11 months ago
@DeusUniversa10 its hard, my mom did it, but if you could only do one thing the whole day, its get to know your patient and don't just "give up" on them. a women my mom worked with wouldn't eat. my mom washed her face and then she ate. she did that every morning and the woman ate. the other nurses just though "well she just wont eat"

Everyday i see a man who once had the world at his finger tips struggle with the most everyday functions. It's so heartbreaking.

Look on the brightside. They can watch repeats on th the television all day long and not get bored, and as for jokes you can tell them the same one day after day and they will still think it funny. Like this one, The doctor said I have some good news and bad news what would you like first? The patient said the bad news, the doctor said you have Alzheimer's Disease, oh fuck sakes, the patient what's the good news? All these within 7 years. I watched my mom living with this and it broke my heart.

My mother is in a nursing home and she's in the beginning stages of this horrible disease. She's now starting to lose all memory of certain things and people, especially me, and she didn't reconize me the last time I went to go see her. What about self identity does that go away as well I don't mean they forget their name but I mean they loose the feeling of being an individual? and since theres so many gaps in memory would their grasp on reality weaken since they forget so many details and minor events. Like watching a movie but only being able to watch a few minutes at a time.
lee155912000 2 years ago
I liked the movie example.
I think all cognition was lost at the end stages of my grandfather's Alzheimer's. Eventually you cannot create memories, cannot recall the past, and cannot make sense of what is going on around you. I think I would be like someone mashing up your memories and eventually removing them all together.
crazysoccerman14 2 years ago
The attention span of an alzheimer's patient is very short. Movie's are good, but try TV shows instead. they're short, you have more variety and it's less expensive. Entertaining will be difficult nonetheless.
