  • 3 refinery closings in PA by 7.2012 cuts 50+% of US east coast refin capacity + a 495k in St Croix closing, major supplier to EC. Rationing? Siphoning to build up US/Nato transport fuels for war? Only agrarianism is sustainable. Industrial base to be decimated by very high oil prices. Plastics & synthetic fabrics from oil make up bulk of world commerce & too high oil prices, most commerce unaffordable. No build out of infrastructure prior to World War 3 for oil. UK Telegraph blackjack.

  • @LightReuse I've come to that same conclusion. Industrial civ simply isn't sustainable. We're able to run it now because we're tapping into millions of years of accumulated sunlight. 3 tablespoons of crude oil contains more energy (watts/calories) than an adult male can produce in an entire days worth of work. Things are really heating up with Iran. Cutting off oil to the EU? Uh uh. No way are TPTB going to allow that to happen. It spells war.

  • What will happen when we run out of oil is all city buses will be converted to run on bio-diesel since they're diesel engines. so people will just have to swallow their pride and take the bus to work. or wherever and as for the 18 wheelers that deliver all our food/supplies to the stores. they're diesel engines too and remember bio-fuel is made from wasted veg oil restaurants throw out something like 500 million gallons a year I think that's enough to power some city buses..!

  • I feel comforted just knowing Im not alone with my thoughts, I acted to adapt the second I learned of this....people close to me think Im crazy

  • Platau in 2005 / 2006. Time to go off the cliff.

  • whats the music

  • A most enjoyable yet sobering rant. Thank you kindly sir.

  • I see that "Newt promises Moon colonies". Great. It reminds me of that quote about the aliens in "Independence Day".... "They're like locusts. They're moving from planet to planet.... After they've consumed every natural resource they move on." Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

  • @vegemikey Chuckle. Yes, and so-called "Christians" like Newt (who calls for life in prison for anyone caught with over 3 oz of hemp) need to learn how to read their own Bible. In Genesis it says God gave man dominion over the Earth. It doesn't say anything about the moon, Mars, or any other heavenly body...Locusts indeed.

  • @vegemikey Just wait to we find a way to get to the other earth like planet 20 light years away. we will destroy that place in no time I'm kinda hoping we never go there. because I believe there's life on that planet similar to us humans. altho I think they're not as advanced technology wise...!

  • The Carter administration back in the 70's wanted to start going away from oil as soon as the US started to decline in oil prod. But Regan stopped it right afterwards.

  • I think around 2016 is when the steep decline starts. But thats just pulling a number out of thin air.

  • if your interested in hirsch look up the farnsworth fusor. its a table top fusion device that assisted in developing with philo farnsworth the inventor of television. if you do this and are curious about what the inner grid looks like, it sits on top of the little emmy statue.

  • Why are you such a pessimist dude? Lighten up a bit. Have you ever heard of LFTR? There is some hope for the future.

Try searching for Thorium Remix 2009 - LFTR in 16 Minutes video. It will brighten your day.

  • Great video! Thanks!

  • Hm, Part of me agrees, but another part of me knows I don't have all the data available to make such a call. I have to say that 3000 years isn't really that long of a time period for humans to evolve. I wouldn't expect to see a major shift in that short of a time. Compared to 2.3 to 2.4 million years depending on who you talk to. As to the problem, I think if we began radical conservation efforts we could at least buy time, but our country is run by idiots. Not sure how that is going to happen.

  • I hate it, but logically speaking I have to concede that this is the best thing for the species as a whole. If I may take it one step further, will we kill ourselves in pursuit of that last bit of energy. Syria here we come, or should I say we are already there..The growth of human populace will be corrected, although I would prefer a more anti-natalist approach. Good times ahead..

  • Dude this video is really fucking scary. Thankyou though for being frank about our situation. I wish you good luck in what is to come.

  • Cliff event my friend

  • @DoNotCiv, Thanks DnCiv! Great Channel! Keep up the good work. I hope the Peak Oilers are Wrong, cause it would buy more time.

  • This is another reason that we're best analogized to ant colonies rather than a virus: watch?v=prjhQcqiGQc

We'll die in a similar way; making the same mistake over and over in a death spiral. Natural selection is too crude to grant us the means necessary to evolve beyond the failings in our intelligence.

  • @IdaMiaDot Interesting. The death spiral works as a literal analogy when we can do nothing more than follow the pheromonal trail. Nature's a bitch, in more ways than one.

  • 7 Billion People, Peak Oil, Peak Water,Climate Change, Species Extinctions, 25% Coral Reefs dead, Global Fisheries Over Fished....things are gonna get INTERESTING to say the LEAST.

  • Best vid on oil depletion in a long time.

Thanks Donotciv Jimmy Cater is my hero. Back ground music appropriate. My judgement is china is the best prepared for peak oil because of there intensive renewable energy program. What i dont get is why the USA is attacking china for there renewable programs. It just dont make any sense. I think planet is depending on the location is entering a worse case scenario for oil depletion.

I enjoy your peak oil vid are your best and the ones i enjoy the most.

  • "DoNotCiv" It is all going to play out just like it should. We build resources and infrastructure on finite resources and expect to travel at warp speed some day. LOL "The 4th world war will be fought with sticks and stones" (Albert Einstein) Humanity is at its own end, the Georgias Guidstones are self fullfilling people. No use fighting it, it is coming very soon. If you are under 60, you will see it. Altimont Pass, you in the Bay Area?

  • where is Obama? fore!!!!

  • If you want a vision of the future, look at what's happening in Egypt right now:

A large population finding it more and more difficult to feed itself, creating a society where people are progressively loosing their illusions while their country slowly descends into chaos.

  • In my opinion our universe and planet is directly analogous to a fully functioning and operational Hell.

The presence of "happy people" is an irrelevancy, as happiness (even in an overwhelming majority) has no capacity to justify the horror that manifests this planet... and so presents itself more as a convenient cover for said horror (rather than redemption of it). It's almost worse with happy people; because if everyone was miserable we would have stopped propagating this system long ago.
