Halford is a faggot but the best singer there is. The Silver Throated Queer. Nazareth has their charm. This album and EXPECT NO MERCY. Maybe close to as good as hair of the dog.
This is from one of my favorite heavy metal albums. I bought it when it first came out! I still love it, but if I listened to it a lot now, I think I'd go crazy. I have mellowed out a lot.
Drinking a 12 pack of cheap beer on a back road by a baseball field at about midnight on a cool fall night. That was about the best tasting beer I ever had. This song brings all that back and more :)
I am hard pressed to remember many better times..... and I'm 50 now.
Nazareth the boys are back at it again!!! With a new album according to Amazon being released April18 will be called "Big Dogz"!!! Help get the word out to the fans!!!
This sounds so much like AC/DC in their prime..the only difference is, they could have epic songs like Please Don't Judas Me or slow it down for Love Hurts. so good
Just so no one gets me wrong, I AM a Nazareth fan, I do play bass, and this song only has 6 notes. How they made a song with only 6 notes sound that cool, I don't know.
Agreed. Great song. No reason for dbstick to change it into some type of generational political thing whatsoever. I admit I like far more songs from the 70s, but acting like the 70s wasn't a commercial adventure as well? Just what sold was different at that time, and, despite much crap then, a lot of cool stuff came about as well. Not unlike today in fact...
dbltrplx: I couldn't 've said it better ! You're damn right!! All these gd dmn whining pussies nowdays, makes us wonder what the hell they've been listening to. I remember, when jerks seeking for fast easy money brought those "garage bands" out on a stage, I lost it right then and there...
I think this was the very first band I ever heard and I was like 5 or something, I remember jamming to this on 8 track on my parents coffin-like 8 track/record player stereo. This was the album they had, very awesome stuff! Still rocks!
@murdock6107-that's funny!! I remember cleaning weed on album covers to get the seeds out.-using a "MAC" CARD-LMAO I was telling a younger friend about it, I said "yeah, remember cleaning your weed on an album cover?" He looked at me like I was an alien-he said "what? weed doesn't have seeds in it".(?????? since when?)Thanks for the memory!!And yes... definately KICK ASS ROCK-N-ROLL!!! @StarvFred-THANKS FOR POSTING!
Im a musician, this is one of my biggest influences. Something old, something new, borrowed and blue....Love to all that holds this music dear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel sorry for dude - It makes for an excellent song - but the chick he was in a relationship with was kicking his ass "with bitterness and frustration" hahaha
I guess she was also a "whiskey drinking woman" hahaha
What an epic album! How was it, that Miss Misery and Beggars Day were both omitted from The Very Best of and The Very Very Best of Nazareth albums? That should've been impossible. I realize at some point you have to start leaving off some songs from Hair of The Dog or you're just remaking the album and adding a few random hits from other albums. But come on! Any "best of" Nazareth album should include at least 5 tracks from H.O.T.D.
I forgot that i loaned out my "Hair of the dog" cd ,
Got to replace it!!!
I still have my vinyl LP but its a bit worn...plus the inner spine of the opening jacket has stains and scrape marks from all the weed that was cleaned
This is the b-side on Nazareth's 1975 single "My white bicycle". I bought it to give to someone as a birthday present, but when I heard "MIss misery" I decided to keep the single and I bought my friend a different single by Mud or Fox or somebody.
Sweet. I actually got turned onto them in about 85 as a 14 year old. Sweet stuff nun the less. This tune, and a few others from them, bring back big, sweet memories. @Lagomort again, you missed the point stupido. every time you open your dumb@ mouth you sound dumber and dumber. quit while your not ahead. and learn how to spell moron.
@Lagomort It's so simple except for one detail... the vocals...that's the problem.. it's one of the hardest vocals to do ...so the song it's quite impossible to play as the original... so think again.Listen to nazareth live 81 snaz... if you find any vocals half agressive raspy high and strong ... you may have a point.
@Lagomort weird sooo simple...but you didnt creATED THE SONG DID YOU??SOOOO EASY.THE HARD PART OF MUSIC GOES BEYOUND TECHNICS..DONT YOU REALIZE THAT IN 50 YEARS?SO BAD YOU DIDNT WROTE ANY RIDICULOUS UNBELIVABLE EASY SONG TO PLAY THAT ANYONE Have heard about L.I like to see you sing miss misery if is so easy.sing it.after all vocals are part of the song right???its a retorical thing.of course youncant never sing one single note of this song...proove me wrong. You are talkingabout Dan bend over
@dbltrplx Wow! What a DICK. How can you even put Nazareth in the same catagory as R.E.M. you uneducated, closed minded, Jack Ass. Sounds to me like you need to quit YOUR whining and since you don"t like the X generation, I'll quote Richard Pryor and say, "Have a Coke and a smile and STFU."!
@MrBassman1975 plug your mexican made walmart bass into a light socket and go fk yourself. and if that doesnt kill you, wash your mouth out with a revolver. the world doesnt need another hack wanna be never will be imitation guitar player contaminating our already bleeding ears from all the sh!t the wall street money machine is shoving down our throats. stick to what you know fool. nothing.
Thank you man! This needs to be said over and over again. Many modern "rock" singers sound just alike. Back in the day, when you heard Nazareth, you knew who they were, as was the case with Bad Company, Zep, AC/DC, Foreigner, Grand Funk and the list goes on. Most of the great bands back then were innovators, with their own unique sound. That's not often the case today.
respect to you man, music is a powerful force and i had my mom pass from a certain type, and music is what i do for aliving, i produce hiphop, but im 29 and grew up on this shit from her and others, anyway, i hope all goes well and once again, respect!

@dbltrplx

@dbltrplx I don't get why the "faggots" part was necessary, considering Rob Halford fits every other part of that description perfectly.

@Azrael138 INfuckingDEED....Nazareth could do without these "real men" "fans".
That piece of misery should get a tree up his ass.
PAULLONDEN 1 year ago
@Azrael138 "Faggot" can be used in a derisive context and not be homophobic, but his reference to Michael Stipe leads me to believe he's a bigot.
And possible closet case.

The next year's Miss Missouri should use this as her theme song. Sure as shit she'd lose the Miss America contest, but she'd upset the status quo.

This song is colossally bad ass heavy metal music.
