  • Paying Al Gore to reduce a carbon footprint sounds an awful lot like when we used to pay priests to absolve all of our sins.

  • and I continue :) DFTBA

  • 7th c: DFTBA

  • daniel biss is so good with maths omg D;

  • @stephiiee he is..?

  • just turn the carbon into diamonds. even though it would take a lot of energy. and probably doesn't work. but do it!

  • @leighia1 Actually it does work but you need to get rid of the oxygen in carbon dioxide and then compress the carbon into diamonds. Then you've produced oxygen and diamonds, marvelous idea :D

  • Watching this reminds me of how much I love their vlogs.

  • I always wonder what Daniel thinks about John calling him up randomly to do maths for him. They should get him in a video one of these days. I can just picture it happening about 20 times every day somehow :).

  • I love that John's math is as bad as mine x) that proves that mathematical knowledge isn't really essential to be a nerd :) Literature nerds ftw!

  • It's great to see that John's math skills haven't improved ^.^ Still consulting the same person about his math problems.

    So funneh.

Video #10: check. DFTBA. I love you all.

  • This was Awesome.

  • Hi there girls being used as objects to sell other objects! Sorry about the patriarchal oppression!

  • Look at that ancient cell phone :)

  • It went from every weekday to two days a week. *sigh*

  • I think we shouldn''t shoot those into space,

you know because of wall-e and dirty space....

I think we should be shooting those towards the earth,

you know because of burning away in the atmosphere and never arrive but still vanished :).

  • No, we should not shoot Olympic sized swimming pools full of carbon into space. I'm scared that that's how WALL.E happened.

  • John Green, being bad at days since 2007

  • and 4 years later, TFiOS has come out.

  • I done that within 5 seconds. :D

  • Oh my god I laughed in the end when he was talking about paying Al Gore to eat the carbon ;b

  • (\(\

    ( - -)

    ((') (')

  • John, it is very difficult for a human to PRODUCE carbon. You need to be a star to do that

  • In four year the average consumption increase from 18 to 24 tonnes of carbon dioxide

  • @AhtramFul You realize that you were told the information many seconds before John told David. It's not that miraculous.

  • John in the future flip phones will be barely used, instead there will be screens you can touch oooohooohhoh!

  • look in the description! a bunny!

  • Political Gold......Classic

  • Heehee... John with a flip phone instead of an iPhone.

  • "Patriarchal Oppression" Looking for Alaska reference!

  • watching them all!

  • The average according to bp.com now is like 26.something. Sad

  • The Al Gore part... I can't stop laughing about it. :))

  • More like "poo-litical gold"

Lol lol lol lol lol... I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.

  • 21-8=13 ...sorry that was driving me nuts.

  • Even in the beginning, John was bad at days....

  • @lepracaun93 and math

  • Lmao, maaybe John wouldn't be a good president XD

    love this <3

  • Oh ok, which was the first?

  • Hahahaha... political gold poop. Oh goodness.

  • John, After watching this video I wanted to know my carbon footprint. Mine was 20 and the us average was 27. (I also used a different website than you, which could have affected the difference and yours was done in 2007) So I challenge you to find out what your carbon footprint is now, see how you have changed eco wise.

  • Comment removed

  • I figured it (it being the math problem 6x16) out before Daniel did. Math nerds, unite!

  • and when he poop it out, IT'S ACTUALLY POLITICAL GOLD

  • I'm sorta new so I'm gonna watch every video in order :)

  • So... I'm missing something (I don't know enough yet). Wouldn't a lot of plants consume OUR carbon and replace it with oxygen that we use and then produce carbon, etc.? Is this not how nature should work? Um, but maybe there aren't enough plants to make up for ever human's carbon production... so can't we just plant more trees?

I know this is probably a stupid question that I will later regret asking...

  • I did the math to and I finished it before John said it... I'm getting as good as Daniel :D *happy dance*

  • First Daniel call?

  • @brenx89 I think it was the second.

  • Woodie Gunthrie XD

  • Maybe hes doing real math.

  • Comment removed

  • Shooting stuff into space should be the answer to all the problems of the world.

  • a nerd that's bad at math... how ironic

  • @cocajola23 Not necessarily, there are tons of different kinds of nerds, all with their own nerd-talents and nerd-strengths. Daniel Biss' is math. John's is English. Hank's is science and music. See? Nerds aren't good at everything nerdy. They're good at their own section of nerdy, and they appreciate all the other nerds who have different sections of nerdy, so we can all help each other out on homework, or situations like the one in the video.

  • i would love three olympic sized swiming pools of c02 to then be converted into to two pools of air and one of diamonds

  • I'm in the usa and theres 2 adults.and one baby and our footprint is 8

  • I love when john calls Daniel Biss to answer mundane math questions.

  • The uk average for carbon is only 9 tons!

  • "I think you can pay him directly. I think you just write him a check and then he just takes care of it."

    lol

  • "Sorry about the patriarchal oppression" sounds like something Alaska would say

  • who is this Daniel person?

  • assuming that al gore does not have a magic digestive system capable of turning carbon into political gold, how would paying him get rid of your carbon?

  • haha did he say bp.com?

  • @cho474chang yes

  • The irony being that John went to BP calculate his carbon footprint...

  • what is today?

  • @kevinearlturner Yesterday's tomorrow.

  • Does Dan-face mind you calling him all the time for simple math calculations?

    Are you ACTUALLY calling him?

Just something I've wondered throughout my nerdfighting experience.

  • Bp dot com? Wow, the world has really changed!!

  • Have you heard of a calculator, John? :P It's fairly cheaper to use than calling Danny (?) all the time + he wouldn't be bothered.

  • Hahahahaha, I beat you. :) I attempted to check our house's carbon footprint and from my guesstimations as to what we do, I got like 7.5 tonnes a year. No, we are not particularily environmental, we just don't drive or fly anywhere a whole lot.

  • Hey John. I just thought I'd tell you about another page to calculate your carbon footprint. The cool thing is that this page also estimates, how many earths it would take if everybody would live the was you do (this gives you a better idea of how much you really use, I think)

    myfootprint(dot)org

    &Dftba! :D

  • Comment removed

  • BP.com no comment

  • I did it that fast and I don't have a phd from MIT. Shamone!

  • Anyone else find the irony that 3 years after John uses BP's website to calculate how much he's destroying the environment, BP destroys the environment more than anyone has ever before?

  • What happened to Daniel Bliss? Haven't heard of him in a long time.

  • @Kellerspinne he is walking down my street right now :D

    He's running for representative.

I can't wait to see him

  • @xingaling17 Oh! How cool! I hope he makes it! Good luck to him :o)!

  • @xingaling17 A Nerdfighting representative? FTW!!! You must make sure he wins :D

  • @Kellerspinne We now have a Nerdfighter in office.

  • @KrustyFrank27 OMG! How awesome!!! I wish him all the luck in the world! I'm sure he'll do a great job :o)!

Thank you very much for informing me!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH BP! WOW THEY SUCK NOW!

  • Interestingly, 16x6 is not also the multiplication to calculate John's carbon footprints but also the amount of dorm-rooms in Culver Creek in "Findin Alaska"

Is John Green in kahoots with global warming?

  • @Arandomfigure Wasnt he writing the book when he made this video?

  • @Arandomfigure Maybe it's just me, but I'm pretty sure the book is called "Looking for Alaska."

  • @GaminGuy9001 You're compleatly right. I remembered the title wrrong.

  • @Arandomfigure Okay. Also, I haven't read any of John's books yet :( but I'm interested in doing so. Could you (or someone else) just tell me the genres and ratings (not how good it is, but like PG, PG-13, etc) of his books? I want to know if I could read it for school.

  • January 10th Is my birthday :)

  • OCMS FTW!

  • Look at that crappy little flip-phone.

    Two things that are hilarious about watching these videos three years later;

    1. Technology. Jesus, it's moving fast.

    AND

    2. John and Hanks struggles with the side-bar/dooblydoo just make them look silly now that it's in their pants.

  • Ok, so. Not to brag, but I only produce 5.26 tonnes of carbon! Well not me personally. Its not like I poop carbon. At least I don't think I do.

Is there carbon in poop? Some people burn poop for energy. so maybe I do poop carbon.

    I digress....

My point is that even with my YouTube addiction my output is low.

    Colour

    Me

Happy....happy is purple, in case you were wondering ;)

  • political gold haha

  • "political gold". Now, that's funny!

  • So, I still dunno what kWh is.. even though there's a thingy that says that it's.. something. But, it said that I produce 19103 kWh a year... I hope that's not bad. lol

  • 7 vid cmnt

  • Al Gore poops political gold. Whoa. Even Chuck Norris is impressed.

  • $96.

  • heh!

    love this video

  • he poops political gold!!! you're so great

  • "He eats the carbon."

    Laughed so hard.

  • I think the best way to reduce carbon emissions in the west is to have an immigration moratorium. Statistics clearly show the USA population grew by 100 million in the last 40 years and nearly all the growth was due to immigration.

The west could drasically reduce carbon emissions with a reduction in immigration and population and would have nearly stable growth in the USA with a moratorium on immigration.

  • Mine is 17.7. Driving a car that commutes a lot adds quite a bit doesn't it...

  • "Hi, girls who are being used as objects to sell other objects!"

    LOL!

  • I produce a carbon footprint of only 11.5! Booyah!

  • i dont ubderstand all this carbon footprint stuff. it is all recycled naturally it never goes away its just reused

  • Al Gores poop is political gold. haha!

  • My carbon footprint is 5.6 tonnes...

  • Al Gore knows how to condense into swimming pools all the carbon... then he goes swimming.

    Then he eats it.

  • I said 96 when he said 96 :D

  • Wow...the average is over 23 tonnes now.... Mine is 9.8. I wonder if I can get it lower. I fly too much!

  • the part about eating carbon and pooping it out as political gold just made me LOL!

  • Lol. He eats the carbon?! I'm commited to watching all of your videos.

  • Some people have suggested the opposite of the swimming pool thing where we put it in bags ast the bottom of the ocean where the extreme pressure and temperature turn it into a liquid. This is actually a terrible idea to me because there have been quite a few cases where hundreds of people have died because the lake adjacent to their town or billage exploded because of carbon dioxide build up and too much CO2 in the ocean probably caused the biggest extiction ever.

  • Holy crap John, the average has gone up to 23.6 since you did this video.

  • shooting things into space?

now where does that sound familiar

  • you are funny

  • I've thought Al Gore should eat his own shit for years! lol

  • Ha! Me too!! I hate Al Gore. I've always thought that celebrities defy reality, and he proved me correct by lying to all of America just to get a Nobel Prize!! I deserve that Nobel for realizing this.

  • yay i did the bp carbon footprint and mine is only 12.7!!

  • I would eat my own yearly carbon production if I could poop political gold after the meal. Sounds like a fair enough trade. I might even come out on top.

  • so I've never watched any of these before, you wouldn't believe how long it took me to backtrack...freaking 460 or something or other of these..I loved Paper Towns and my friend informed me of these blogs after I expressed the opinion that Mr. John Green's picture on the back of it was cute :] haha

but they are entertaining none the less...I've taken it upon myself to watch them all to catch up and to be in on the inside jokes and such...so. off I go. thanks :]

  • it's funny because Al Gor was wrong in his movie- an increase in temperature occurred before the increase in carbon release etc etc... (i believe there was a court case on this point?)

  • hay hay hoe hoe

into a skirt hanks gotta go

    hay hay hoe hoe

into a skirt hanks gotta go

hank green wont get our views

untill he wears high healed shoes

hank green wont get our views

untill he wears high healed shoes

    were MAD hank MAD

by the way can u give me daniels phone number please?

  • i have a record player just like that! except mine is black.

  • Gas. However, I think there might be a way to cool it into a solid (which would consume far less space).

  • lol i heart the vlog brothers

  • lol just call him and ask a math question

  • lol. "hi girls used as objects to sell other objects" i love you xD

  • political gold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • I have to call people all the time to do my math for me too!

  • political gold! :D lol!

  • "Good luck selling Dodge Caravans" lol

  • i love that he eats the carbon lol

  • Using a song about Unions in response to a video shot in Detroit made me giggle. But more manly. Manly giggle. Miggle. Maggle. Mangle. No, wait...

Wow, in response to one of the commenters saying that he poops out a diamond... MAN, Al Gore must have the World's Strongest Sphincter. Like, he could kill bears with that thing. If he someone manage to convince one to...

You know, I'm gonna stop right there.

  • OMG I just died laughing at the end and my mum is looking at my wierdly while my brother is doing an impression of my laugh. awesome blogs btw! im a new here=D

  • lol that was awesome

but if he ate carbon i think it would come out as diamond.

you know, because its chemically impossible to eat carbon and poo gold, but pooing diamond is another story.

  • me too! it is fun! but long... haha

  • yep, its the best to give money to al gore for the sake of the environment. seeing as humans only release 3% of the carbon that is released into the air. But I do love brotherhood 2.0 don't get me wrong on that.

  • lol political gold! funny :)

  • condense the carbon into swimming pool-sized shapes and shoot it into space. brilliant. :) We'll just use the political gold to pay for it all. :D

  • political gold!!!

  • he eats it up, and then when he poops it out it's political gold. very funny.

  • my foot print is 10089 kWh per year. haha

  • what site did he use to calculate his carbon footprint?

  • is it weird that i understood the math joke?

  • lol could u explain it :P

  • *SPOILER ALERT*

    21-8=13

    13=unlucky numbers

buildings therefore refer to the 13th floor as 14

    the joke plays on this

therefre proving i am a math nerd

  • I wanted to tell you that 16 x 6 = 96 but, alas, you would not have heard me.

I'm really bad at math, so I empathize, but John, that was horrible LOL. You could have used your cellphone to figure that out =)

  • HA political gold

  • You remind me of a history teacher I had, his name was Mr. Plessner.

    Any chance of relation?

  • Hahaha, "He eats the carbon and when he poops it out, it's actually political gold". John that was awesome.

  • I think it is hillarious that you can't work a calculator

  • Does the shooting an olympic sized swimming pool into space have anything to do with the Ringolater?

  • 8. dude thats great

    "hi girls!"

  • 8: Daniel Biss! :D

John's thing about Al Gore consuming carbon and pooping political gold is still one of my favorite vlogbrothers quotes.

  • OMG! THE "HELLO TO GIRLS" THING WAS HILARIOUS! dog, women dont know their worth anymore!

(p.s. dog as in "i dont want to say god in vain" not dog as in "dawg")

lol. That Al Gore... always hungry. haha

  • like, the Dog Almighty? haha

(funnier if you've read The Vicar of Nibbleswicke)

  • 6?(0ther people are saying 7): NOM NOM NOM NOM!!!! Carbon.

  • Comment 7: "CAN you shoot an Olympic Size swimming pool into outer space?" Lol.

  • bahaha political gold nice...

  • I think the energie needed to shoot those pools into space would be way too high and the rockets would produce even more carbon....but I heard this idea before

  • Comment 7:

You look like a gay man from tv :)

  • girls that are being used as objects to sell other objects ftw

  • I got 16 a year w/ 3 ppl here.

  • hah

you guys had very abrupt endings back then

im trying to watch alll ur videos. even though i only started watching u guys this year.

  • Political gold...

I can't believe I just now discovered these videos.

    XD

  • 16 tons of carbon fill 3 swimming pools whoa. Shooting it into space is an excellent idea. Poop Gold lol.

  • OCMS fucking greaaat band! love you guys

  • i meant longest time not name lol.
