i don't really like mainstream, and yes i know paramore is sort of mainstream, but they sort of touched my heart. i admire their hard work and their lyrics. I know they aren't amazing at covering ADTI but like honestly they tried okay? that's what counts. it shows that they love the band and i think that's great. they sort of... added a new touch to it. To be honest i'm a real purist, but i'm not hating on them for covering a great song. but i like the one armed scissor one better.
this is cool and it shows that paramore has more depth thn people think i have always liked them and it makes me respect them more.... ATDI is one of the most underrated bands ever!!

I agree with Sup, it's like Kanye West covering The Beatles. You don't do that. While Paramore is successful in their own genre it doesn't compare to what ATDI was and achieved. ATDI was political, raw, and played songs as tribute to friends who died. While Paramore sings to little tweens about missing their bf, and how it sucks for your crush to not like you back. Big deal. Hopefully, as Paramore audiences mature, they can appreciate what ATDI solely was and what they represented, a struggle.
Did you know that Paramore's song "Brighter" was about a close friend of theirs that died? Now, I could go on with a list of what this Paramore song means and blah blah blah, but I'm not. I have listened to ATDI, and yes, they are very good. However, Paramore has an extremely special place in my heart, and I'm glad that they respected this band by covering two of their songs. Now, I'm 19 (maturing), and still Paramore are applicable to my life and represent different struggles.

1st off, they aren't trying to cover ATDI (a cover is the full song; they are just adding a small section of it to theirs). 2nd, nothing is wrong with a cover. Of course covers are not better than the original (unless with those rare few). What's the use of making it sound the exact same (go listen to the original if you want that)? I like each band's own touch to it. Covers keep songs alive & are like a tribute. I think of them as admirable things, not "horrible & nothing like the original".

To cover One Armed Scissor is one thing, but to cover Invalid Litter Dept. is another. They distort the meaning of the song, I used to have Paramore's respect until I heard they were covering ATDI, They will never be able to live up to Cedric, Jim, Paul, Omar, and Tony

Never compare ATD-I to Paramore. At The Drive-In blows them out of the water and Paramore did not do this song any justice. The only played 30 seconds of it and it sounded like shit. The ruined this song as well as One Armed Scissor.
Second of all - Your name is crushcrushcrush, which means you signed up after Riot!, which was a shit album. Maybe 5 songs off AWKIF are decent.

For the record...I'm not trying to diss Paramore here...but seriously...stick with One Armed Scissor outros or something...I mean I play ILD. myself from time to time by myself, but I mean...come on...if Paramore wants to cover ILD. they better completely change the pace, lighting, pretty much everything when they start up that song...
I mean atleast Paramore likes ATDI or whatever...but...well it does little good, when your fans will never know "their routes" or whatever, but, hey! you do...

The only good thing that can come from this video, is I can tell all my friends who are into Paramore who don't like ATDI, that even their fave band acknowledges the greatness of ATDI...even if it has scarred me. I mean ILD. is one of those ATDI songs that bands shouln't cover in anyway live unless they live in El Paso themselves or something...last two minutes of ILD. never ceases to give me goosebumps...this well, gives me goosebumps...but differently...

1st off, they aren't trying to cover ATDI (a cover is the full song; they are just adding a small section of it to theirs). 2nd, nothing is wrong with a cover. Of course covers are not better than the original (unless with those rare few). What's the use of making it sound the exact same (go listen to the original if you want that)? I like each band's own touch to it. Covers keep songs alive & are like a tribute. I think of them as admirable things, not "horrible & nothing like the original".

Dude, I love Paramore...they're basically my favorite band.
But like everyone else I hate that they covered this song, and did such a cruddy job at it.
Because the song has meaning and they don't even seem to get that.
They should acknowledge ATDI in someway...even on there website it says nothing about them under there influences.

I do agree that Paramore should acknowledge ATDI, it would've been the polite thing to do. But it doesn't change my like for them.
