  • The second one is Lee Chang-dong not Park Chan-ok. as i stated below

  • awesome to see that scorsese, one of the best american directors, (and one of my favs as well) is a fan of good korean films!

  • perhaps the greatest cinephile who ever lived. A man devoid of ego, despite his reputable filmography, forever willing to uncover young and hidden talent. His contribution to film preservation alone certainly cements his status as vanguard of the cinema, alongside Henri Langois.

  • I would be utterly greatfull if someone wrote the names of the film makers he mentions.

  • @ScorseseKubrick Bit late lol

    Park Chan-Wook, Park Chan-Ok, Jang Sun-Woo, Im Kwon-taek, Park Kwang-su, Kim Ki-duk and Park Chan-ok.

He missed two personal favourites in Kim Ji-woon and Bong Joon-ho

  • @TheUltimoLee Better late than never! Thanks a bunch!

  • is the introduction in the dvd lasts this long???? theres got to be more!

  • an incredible movie, everyone should see it

  • It's unfortunate that most people that do not like Hong Sang Soo's films just cannot grasp the work or comprehend it.

  • Haha I'm pretty impressed how mr.Scorsese managed to pronounce those full korean names fairly well...he had a quick laugh when he was going through the names lol. I love what he does with films

  • he has a beautiful hypnotic voice and diction

  • @theachtungtree I'd like to see you direct Goodfellas,Raging Bull, Mean Streets, Casino, Taxi Driver etc. You wouldn't last a day behind the camera. "douche"? How the fuck is he a "douche"? Your ignorant comment defined douche.

  • @StupidFuckingTrolls oh...those are AWESOME MOVIES...i'm talking about him directing shit nowadays, everybody knows those older scorsese films are THE good ones, get real you douche, read closer

  • @theachtungtree If that photo is you of username you look like a dipshit douchebag from a soap opera. There's no need to call Scorsese a "douche". What's so "douchy" about him? please explain to me? Is he wearing a little tight t-shirt and saying "I make awesome movies"? no, You're photo and your ignorant comment defined DOUCHE!

  • @StupidFuckingTrolls the irony of this: when you mentioned those movies you totally missed his recent works like..."morons of ny", "omg i'm leo dicrapio trying to be deniro gain in the aviator" or the already forgettable "shitter island",christ...even you admitted that scorsese means shit right now by avoinding those films like the plague PS: leave my "look" out of this, that's gay...we're talking about cinema, you're quite the diva by looking at my profile just to talk trash uh? immature bitch

  • @theachtungtree I didn't admit shit! You're trying to change the subject because i made fun of you, aww you gonna cry? Quit being a little bitch and quit wearing those tight little t-shirts. DOUCHE!

  • @StupidFuckingTrolls and who the fuck are you anyway? you're actually defending him like if i have offended your mother or something, quit being gay or whatever,go suck some dick...get aids, just quit being such a groupie man, seriously, you don't even know him right?+ YEP you admitted that shit by IGNORING his recent works on your example & that's not a tight shirt, even if it's a "tight shirt" that indirectly makes you a marty hater cause he used to wear those back in 71, owned

  • @theachtungtree Marty wore button shirts and like you said that was "71!" with a beard. Every douchebag looks like you today, a douche with a tight shirt, gay haircut, talks like a fag, could lose in a fight, wears skinny jeans etc. Go be a douche somewhere else. And i'm flattered that you type all that shit for me. haha

  • @StupidFuckingTrolls man, it is just a shirt...WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT PERSONATILIES OR UNDERSTANDING CINEMA BY CLOTHING + im not even the athletic type, i dont even go to the gym, i don't go to clubs or whatever, i'm actually very grounded & shy,Marty wore both buttoned shirts & regular TIGHT t shirts, you're not such a groupie after all,i really recommend you to watch him & several others like spielberg & lumet back then & you'll see, everybody wore tight shirts back then, even tighter than me

  • @theachtungtree you really got a problem. You send me 2 long comments that i'm not even bothering to read. thanks.

  • @StupidFuckingTrolls oh yeah but you actually took the time to reply me back...what a lifeless asshole...LONER fuckhole without friends and nothingness all around

  • @StupidFuckingTrolls omg...i didnt even watched your nickname until the last reply...you're just some fucking stupid immature child all around.."stupidfuckingtrolls"?so that's what you do all the time?defending famous people you actually don't know like marty?pathetic, that's sad man...get a real life, apparently you're just a sad little fuck with no friends,no life,go get laid...(& im not even a bully or whatever)& youre criticizing me cause of my clothing, unbeliavable

  • he mentioned about director 'Hong sangsoo'

Hong sangsoo is a good director in my view ;)

  • I would really like to see this film and other Korean films no. But which directors does he mention..? Kim Ki-Duk, Lee Chang-Dong, Hong Sang-Soo...and...?

  • Park Chan-Wook and Park Chan-Ok, Jang Sun-Woo.

  • i think he said park chan wook twice... ah hahahah marty is soo cute, laughing at himself~~

  • no he didnt.. he said park chan ok, its another director.

  • @kojilee1983 actually, he said Park chan "wook" and park chan "ok." - two very different yet talented directors. He was laughing more at the fact that he managed to say all the difficult names more or so correctly

  • Scorsese makes me want to see this movie.

  • I'm more impressed with the Taiwanese and Chinese films I've seen recently. I've been a Japanese film fan for many years. I've seen too few Korean films to judge them, but of course all countries have their great artists? I believe this. Tragically, some we will never know because of fate or finance. I'm still getting over the disappearance of 18 Ozu films. Xenophon's Anabasis (mildly interesting crap) lasts for centuries and we lose 18 Ozu's in just 60 years!

  • lol he does crack up, I think he just feels silly, and kinda like he's being arrogant to oblivious Americans? who knows.

    Horrible movie, actually.

I'm interested, if any one knows, a list of famous Americans that enjoy Korean film?

I know Clint Eastwood is an asian fan, obviously Martin. Any one else openly state that Korean film is the best?

which it is; Daisy, memories of murder, and The Host are epic.

  • Do u mean to say woman is the future of man is horrible? I want to hear your reasons and I hope that you are a master film critic with an iron reputation.

I want you to give me solid reasons or consider yourself one of the ignoble no-brainers.

  • I see how you make yourself a reasonable critic in your own eye. But who says a good film must have a lot of things going on (see Truffaut's films)? For one thing, it is an emtional and philosophical film more than an entertaining one. No, I don't have a shit taste. Like Martin Scorsese, I appriciate film as an art form. The film was original, and elegant but may not be fun.

  • I think that ur taste in film is formed mostly by pop culture films and your emotional valuing. Neither are helpful to a fair movie criticism. p.s. The film is NEVER pretentious.

  • Who cares, the movie is awful. Go acquire some taste, fancy pants. It's boring people like you that destroy good asian cinema. Which is ironic, because I assume you are azn

  • why is being reasonable so repelling to u?

UR "don't give a damn" attitude doesn't vindicate ur opinion at all(it may in ur own head).

Plus, the quality of a movie is rated objectively. That means ur saying "the movie is awful" is completely invalid.

And God knows I have better taste in film than you do.

  • The Host and Memories of Murder, I'd heartily agree, but DAISY? Hm. Sylvester Stallone did say once in a Q&A with Ain't it Cool News that his favourite action film is Taegukgi (Brotherhood of War).

  • No Daisy is great, and to a lesser extent Time.

Pjbrubak, don't see this movie. It's more boring than GoodBye Dragon Inn

  • It's funny to hear the Korean names come from Scorsese's mouth. I think he almost cracked up trying to say them.
