@MASTEROTAKUCHIEF He's using a fuzz pedal, probably a bass big muff. To get that sound turn the sustain (distortion) up to full and tweak the tone and volume until you get that sound. To get a more accurate sound to the one Chris uses live use an subtle Envelope Generator, that'll give it a more synth like tone.

The only thing wrong with this is the lack of pull-offs on the bass. There's a lot of open notes on the D.

Otherwise, great cover, great sound.
