But i would love to learn more about the hindu gods and godesses, about thew old maya and aztec pantheon (well all the southamerican ones), and last but not least the north americabn pantheon. There should be enough gods to keep me buisy for years. But you see instead of just researching them online it would be much better to find someone who ->

Its like saying, "oh you are a monotheist", so i prefer the term asatruar (which translates roughly into he who beleaves in the asen, as most of my gods are asen of the norse pantheon), but yes i am a heathen through and through.

Now about the sacrifice, Gods dont need sacrifice, but they sure like it. I mean you dont really need birthday presents do you ? But you sure like to get some ^^

@MrRichardQED ah, the term "Heathen" is a modern term for those who follow the nordic religions of asatru, or odinism or polytheistic nordic traditions. I've never sacrificed a thing. I think i'm past that foolish thinking that a god needs bloodshed or a part of his own creation? seems stupid to go to your room mates room and take a picture he painted and give it to him on his birthday right? He will share the painting, and if you admire and thank him for it, he'll love it more. Peace to you!

@LarendriaThePagan I think you misunderstood what sacrifice is.You could for instance sacrifice time to a god, time in which you will do something for him,or to honour him. You could sacrifice something you created to him. There are a thousand ways of sacrifice.In the old days the humans didnt sacrifice animals to feed the gods or to give them blood.You see sacrifice is about giving something uop that is important to you.

By that you show your god that what yiou are asking is really important

You need to make that distinction in a polypantheon you see?So the sacrifice is an important part of our religion,with it you show which gods you follow and honour.Its also a kind of tit for tat, why should a god do something for you if you dont do something in return for him?

@MrRichardQED Asatru is a modern day interpretation of ancient scandinavian pagan practices. They don't sacrifice anything anymore unless you call singing and spilling mead a "sacrifice". it's a newer pagan religion that focuses on honoring your ancestors and their gods. I know heathens and i talk to many on a weekly basis. You're confusing ancient paganism with modern day paganism, no one sacrifices anything in asatru, they are beyond that mentality.

I have no problem to sacrifice to them too then if thats expected of us. I know my gods have no problem with me sacrifising to another god, as long as they get their sacrifise as well.

@pinoyjapan You can look at Hagalaz as being the prime destroyer, but also the prime element of Creation, as Niflheim in some interpretations to emerge from the Ginnungagap. Hagalaz is a Rune of destruction, but through destruction we can also find renewal, challenges that force us to grow, and develop ourselves. It can be a Rune promoting growth through the removal of dead things, as with Nidhogg chewing on the dead things of Yggdrasil.

I see it as a reference to the threads of life that Frigg weaves. When the narrator wakes up in the end and holds the spindle, I take it to symbolise the realisation that she herself controls her own fate. And since Frigg gave it to her, it's her web really as she weaves the threads...

Mon opinion ne dépend pas de la tienne. Je suis pour la diversité de pensée, du coup, je m'abstiendrai de juger ton qualificatif de "foireux", car je suis contre l'inquisition mentale de ce genre de pensée inique. Le monothéisme est une monomanie qui filtre les couleurs, les idées, les hommes selon ses propres critères. Il y a mille paganismes, mais il y a un seul monothéisme, c'est celui qui tue, qui impose.
