Was there awhile in southern Sweden in 97, and walking in the forests at night,
hunting during the day, shit yes the chills hit. I have lived here before and their language that was spoken, while walking deep into the forest and that was when it hit me....
When I listen to this, I can still remember dancing around the ship-stones in Uppsala, a millennia gone, the Völva and her maiden priestesses chanting..........
My ancestors were heathens, they were pagans, they were witches, and before them they were shamans. To worship one god is like to have only one flavor of ice cream the rest of your life or only listen to one type of music. My mind my heard and my spirit needs more than 1 god, and it needs pagan ones!
@LarendriaThePagan Why dont we form a "god of the month" club, and follow a diferent god every month ? You know like a book club, to learn new things ?
@LarendriaThePagan How ould i know ? I have thought of perhaps making a group on facebook or something like that. Problem is we need people who can introduce their gods/gods to us.
@LarendriaThePagan And not only there. The norse gods i dont need to reesearch, i am an asatruar (part of the germanic/celtic neopaganism). But i would love to learn more about the hindu gods and godesses, about thew old maya and aztec pantheon (well all the southamerican ones), and last but not least the north americabn pantheon. There should be enough gods to keep me buisy for years. But you see instead of just researching them online it would be much better to find someone who ->
@MrRichardQED You mean you're a Heathen? If you think that Thor or Wotan needs sacrifices still, go ahead and do it, its you're business and we all praise them in our own way. I really enjoy the egyptian gods/goddesses.
@LarendriaThePagan Well heathen or even pagan is a very generall term. Its like saying, "oh you are a monotheist", so i prefer the term asatruar (which translates roughly into he who beleaves in the asen, as most of my gods are asen of the norse pantheon), but yes i am a heathen through and through.
Now about the sacrifice, Gods dont need sacrifice, but they sure like it. I mean you dont really need birthday presents do you ? But you sure like to get some ^^
@MrRichardQED ah, the term "Heathen" is a modern term for those who follow the nordic religions of asatru, or odinism or polytheistic nordic traditions. I've never sacrificed a thing. I think i'm past that foolish thinking that a god needs bloodshed or a part of his own creation? seems stupid to go to your room mates room and take a picture he painted and give it to him on his birthday right? He will share the painting, and if you admire and thank him for it, he'll love it more. Peace to you!
@LarendriaThePagan I think you misunderstood what sacrifice is.You could for instance sacrifice time to a god, time in which you will do something for him,or to honour him. You could sacrifice something you created to him. There are a thousand ways of sacrifice. In the old days the humans didnt sacrifice animals to feed the gods or to give them blood. You see sacrifice is about giving something uop that is important to you.
By that you show your god that what yiou are asking is really important
@MrRichardQED Actually the scandinavian pagans DID sacrifice cows and sheep for their gods for "food". they believed that they were feeding the gods. I've been studying religions for a long time. I'd like to know where you're getting your false information from.
@LarendriaThePagan and by that you also show that the god is important to you. Again its not about the god needing anything, its about showing your appreciation.
@MrRichardQED So if my mother bakes me a cake, you'd think i'd thank her by killing my dog or burning my favorite cd for her? lol rofl lol You say thanks by saying THANKS.
@LarendriaThePagan You where the one who called sacrifice stupid, so you are trying to tell me how to honour my gods, not the other way around. The fact that you followed me to another video shows you are an attention whore who stalks people if they dont instantly react to your comments. Other then that you are also propably a troll judging by your comments. So will leave this discussion, it was a mistake to take you serious enough for a conversation. Dream on about your "knoiwledge"
@LarendriaThePagan You see in our belief we have many gods, but we only sacrifice to a few of them, the gods we really follow. There is a big diference beteween believing in the existence of a god and actually following one. You need to make that distinction in a polypantheon you see?So the sacrifice is an important part of our religion, with it you show which gods you follow and honour. Its also a kind of tit for tat, why should a god do something for you if you dont do something in return for him?
@MrRichardQED I think you're confusing paganism from the 3rd centurty to modern day paganism. If you're a follower of Asatru, you don't sacrifice shit. I would know because i actually KNOW Heathens.
@MrRichardQED I think you're confusing paganism from the 3rd centurty to modern day paganism. If you're a follower of Asatru, you don't sacrifice shit. I would know because i actually KNOW Heathens.
@MrRichardQED Asatru is a modern day interpretation of ancient scandinavian pagan practices. They don't sacrifice anything anymore unless you call singing and spilling mead a "sacrifice". it's a newer pagan religion that focuses on honoring your ancestors and their gods. I know heathens and i talk to many on a weekly basis. You're confusing ancient paganism with modern day paganism, no one sacrifices anything in asatru, they are beyond that mentality.
@LarendriaThePagan really prays to those gods and sacrifices to them. That way we would get a more direct and personal view on those gods. What do you think ? I have no problem to sacrifice to them too then if thats expected of us. I know my gods have no problem with me sacrifising to another god, as long as they get their sacrifise as well.
@pinoyjapan You can look at Hagalaz as being the prime destroyer, but also the prime element of Creation, as Niflheim in some interpretations to emerge from the Ginnungagap. Hagalaz is a Rune of destruction, but through destruction we can also find renewal, challenges that force us to grow, and develop ourselves. It can be a Rune promoting growth through the removal of dead things, as with Nidhogg chewing on the dead things of Yggdrasil.
It is written in the Edda that the three Norns Urd (Past Fate), Verdandi (Present Necessity) and Skuld (Future Being) weave the threads of the Web of Wyrd. However, it is Frigga who spins the prima materia, the substance which the Norns weave into the Web of Wyrd.
She is regarded as the patron of marriage, motherhood, and as the goddess of weaving. She produces herself splendid garments of fine linen yarn and weaves the clouds in the sky
I see it as a reference to the threads of life that Frigg weaves. When the narrator wakes up in the end and holds the spindle, I take it to symbolise the realisation that she herself controls her own fate. And since Frigg gave it to her, it's her web really as she weaves the threads...

The swords beat upon the shields of men standing, clad in armor and nothing else.
The Völva and her procession approaches, a wagon carved with cunning designs
Gripping beasts and heroes, and legends of Folk 1000 years gone to their howes
