I'm wondering if someone of you have ever try to sing this song? For a man voice this is a great challange! And he has a perfect control over his voice!
this was just a not-so-great performance from him..... I imagine he got caught up in the whole gotta-make-it-more-over-the-top-every-time that many artists trying to find their place get trapped in......this performance felt very 'contrived'....check out the clip of him singing this in some talent show (not AI)....much more genuine

Most of the posters here are probably too young to know who Sam Harris is, but this kid (who is good) has taken nearly ALL of his style from him; and nobody will ever come close to doing it as well as Sam does. I know people are doggin this kid... but the fact of the matter is that the majority of singers out there can't even come close to him vocally. Yes it's overkill at times but that can be worked on. If I may, I'd like to take a teensy bit of credit for bringing him to the attention of Rosie. She says she just happened to be looking at singers on YouTube when she came across his videos. Well, back in 2007, before his appearance, mind you, I emailed Rosie through ABC's The VIEW website and told her about him with a link to YouTube. I don't know him nor have I ever met him but I live in Kansas City. I saw him on an entertainment segment of a local show on a Kansas City news station.

I'm just wondering why in the world didn't he sing a song like this on Wildcard night? I mean, he's lucky to get that rare second chance, and I personally thought he did great singing that Elton John song, but man, the judges were simply not impressed.

American idol is only trying to ride the slumdog millionaire mass hyposis which is why flawless singers like Brady, Smith and Afsar were removed and the indian guy who's amateurish performance was pitchy in some places, flat in others and completely lacking in any vocal malisma had the red carpet rolled out for him and an unprecedented 13th spot was created for him. Simon also pre-prepped the other gudges to give out positive feedback to anoop. American Idol is obviously rigged. Speak out people

Wow....and I actually liked Von and was hoping he would make it to the Top 12. But after watching this performance, now I'm glad he didn't get to the finals!! Plus, his wild card performance wasn't the best he could do. Anyway, this was a horrible performance of this song. o_O'

I think he tried to tone it down on American Idol. He thought the public will not like all that high pitched over the top screaming. But bad strategy because he didn't leave his mark. He should have gone for the jugular and people would have noticed and voted for him. Probably would have made it over Michael Sarver

I know people are doggin this kid... but the fact of the matter is that the majority of singers out there can't even come close to him vocally. Yes it's overkill at times but that can be worked on. Von is on his way and even though American Idol didn't place him he's got a world of talent. I give this kid a huge thumbs up.

Good potential but overkill! No way his vocal cords can hold up for long. david Archuleta had major problems which he still has occasionally but his voice is very awesomely natural where Von forces every note.Good luck tho Von.

I like him; he's not as good as Adam Lambert or Danny Gokey, but I hope he doesn't do damage to his vocal chords the way that David Archuleta did. He does have a tremendous vocal range,a dn I wish him the very best on AI.

If I may, I'd like to take a teensy bit of credit for bringing him to the attention of Rosie. She says she just happened to be looking at singers on YouTube when she came across his videos. Well, back in 2007, before his appearance, mind you, I emailed Rosie through ABC's The VIEW website and told her about him with a link to YouTube. I don't know him nor have I ever met him but I live in Kansas City. I saw him on an entertainment segment of a local show on a Kansas City news station.
