  • René Kollo as Marianus with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna Sängerknaben conducted by Georg Solti. Anything else is crap. Send back Simon rattle to Birmingham.

  • Kenneth Riegel and Rene Kollo are the great marianus's of our time.

  • Blicket auf! Blicket auf! Alle reuig Zarten.

  • So moving! Was crying while watching this. This brings back the memory when I sang in this masterpiece. So far, I'd say that soprano Soile Isokoski (thanks 3eroica) gives the best performance in her role I've ever heard.

  • Wow! It's nice to see that Jon Villars has "grown into" his voice. He & I were friends/classmates at Florida State University and I think his voice was a bit awkward then. He knew (as we all did) that it was a big voice, but it was almost too big for him at the time. He didn't really know what to do with it. Looks like he figured it out. ;) Sounds great! :)

  • The Pater Ecstaticus aria always makes me want to cry...so beautiful...and the finale usually does make me cry...

  • beautifu,...simply beautiful

  • Great! Great Mater Gloriosa! "Komm!" We're really attracted to her, we go. How potent, How clear, super-projection, super high! (and not in physical height, in voice) Best of all!. "Blicket auf!"

  • The singers are as follows:

First soprano (Magna Peccatrix): Christine Brewer

Second soprano (Una poenitentium): Soile Isokoski

Third soprano (Mater gloriosa): Rosemary Joshua

First alto (Mulier Samaritana): Birgit Remmert

Second alto (Maria Aegyptiaca): Jane Henschel

    Tenor (Doctor Marianus): Jon Villars

    Baritone (Pater ecstaticus): David Wilson-Johnson

    Bass (Pater profundus): John Relyea

    Happy to help!

  • Can you give us a "left to right" order, or did you do that?

I know who John Relyea is; but none of the others.

    Thank you.

  • Who are the sopranos who sing "Una Poenitentium" and "Mater Gloriosa"?

  • The singer?

    Thanks
