  • Doctor poo and his turdis lol

  • Crap somebody stole my TARDIS!!!

  • great to hear the seekers in the background

  • Must have been hard but you've done a great job

  • Very interesting reconstruction. Where did you get all the stills of this lost episode? Why are there so many stills of an episode that was erased? One more question - how is it that the BBC still has the audio tracks of these episodes but not the video? Weren't they integrated onto the same tape?

  • @AnaiBendai The stills that exist are 'telesnaps' done by John Cura who was hired to take photographs of the episode during transmission. So these are actual pictures from the episode itself and about 70 were made per episode. 36 missing episodes have no telesnaps however.

The audio only survives because it was recorded on transmission, by fans as a way of keeping the programme for themselves. Fortunately fan audio recordings survive for ALL the missing episodes but the quality is variable.

  • what the hell is this shit?

  • ah dr who withdrawal

so trying to watch classic dr who :P

  • I don't get it -- BBC wiped these episodes one year after their premiere. Who does such a thing to wipe out tapes so close in time? Haven't they heard of "reruns"?

  • @longhairfan What's funny is that this story was repeated in 1968 after season 5, the only 60s story for that to happen.

But most of the time it just didn't happen.

  • @longhairfan Actually the story WAS repeated 06/08/68 to 06/22/68 and again 07/13/68 to 08/03/68 after which it was THEN wiped. Part of the reason was the BBC had gone to color and viewed B&W episodes as nonviable. Also Terry Nation (the Dalek's creator) had been trying since 1966 to get a Dalek TV series going but part of the agreement to do was the BBC had to to stop the sale of Dalek episodes overseas. These two things coming together resulted in the wiping

  • eerrr... Can I just say a very heart ment thank you for this! Thank you

  • Does anyone know what font they used in the titles during this time?

  • it'd be amazing if we had a programme tht could make old B&W(black and whites) into colour:D

  • Where did you get the footage of the TARDIS being driven away? From The Faceless Ones?

  • Good stuff!

I look forward to the day when "Evil of the Daleks" is completely reconstructed.

  • Great Idea, Some of us either weren't born yet or were too little for this kind of thing back when this first aired.

For those of us without a TARDIS of our own to go back and see it, this is a great alternative LOL!

  • wats with the movement

  • This recon is terrific fun! It captures the spirit of the segment and era wonderfully! What matter it looks cheap and cheerful, it's the fun and imagination that counts! And in many ways, these are similar to the pictures we would have had back in the day! Great fun recon, hugely entertaining, very well done, thanks!

  • Dude, this is better than the cartoon version of The Invasion.

  • Yeaaaahhh Max Payne Style Graphic Novel....now that would be great for Doctor who except its a Doctor Who Graphic Novel using the sound from the old episodes

  • Brilliant reconstruction!

    Many many thanks!

    10/10 :)

  • Good job, such a shame so much of Troughton episodes are lost.

  • I agree when the toy of troughton and

a model of the emporor dalek and the

other chracters in that episode i will

    re create those sences.

  • There is a toy of troughton coming out. I saw it on forbidden planet, com but, sadly, it's only available in the UK. :(

  • what the fuck is this crap please people stop posting fake ass videos and add the real thing

  • Well, the audio and a few pics and some of the footage.

  • the real thing was destroyed

  • Then would you like to go out and find all 108 missing episodes?

  • i still don't understand: how can they LOSE and episode? do they carry a big pile of them around the world and occassionly drop one? lol. kinda stupid thing to do.

  • In the 1970s, once Dr Who appeared in colour, the BBC thought the old black and white episodes worthless, and so destroyed them. Now, however, the tables have turned, and the BBC want the episodes back - Many of them have come back, having been rescued by visitors to the BBC Film archive in the 70s.

  • so they still have the episodes in colour? all of them?

  • Not quite. All the colour episode exist in some form, but many from the eary 70's have had to be reconstructed from other sources and about a dozen are still missing the colour.

  • He's Correct Y'Know. Back then, around '76 when most B&W Film was being wiped and sold, they didn't realise the full implications of what they (BBC Archives) were doing, and they thought they were useless as they were only commisioned for 1 repeat since original broadcast on the BBC.

  • why are these episodes missing? what happened to the origonals?

  • They were erased by the BBC in the mid 70's, back when repeats were rare and there was no VHS, it was considered unnecessary to keep hold of them.

  • thats sad :(

  • we need a tardis and go back to save those episodes

  • @daftvampire16 That What I Said when My friend asked what I would do if I had a Tardis XP

  • @daftvampire16 Recon me feet, check out the amazing sugar-bowl-haircut. LOL!!!!

  • Love it!How did you get hold of the sound track? It sounds genuine.

  • the soundtracks off all missing episodes exist thanks to fans recording them with tape players when they where broadcast.

  • very well made 5 stars

  • this is actually quite good for the sixties. nice job of putting it together xx

  • is it made of paper or did they do that at that time.

  • If anything good can be said about the wiping of these episodes, it's encouraged a lot of creativity in figuring out ways to reconstruct them...

  • excellent job! REALLY well done!! love it.

  • They did a good job

  • great job. i feel like i've just watched it on tv for real.

  • This is the best recon I've ever seen! Wonderful job! And you've done the whole serial too!

  • thanks 4 adding

love patrick trougton (hes so funny)

    :)

  • Where did you get the audio without linking narration?

  • Very, very cool.

  • J. Smith? Does the J stand for John?

  • I have had some issures of "Doctor Who Magazine" that would have photos of various episods which some of this could have come from. Also, there is that episode that is still intact which I saw on vhs.

  • I saw one of the episodes that was on a vhs that was about history of the Daleks. I checked out from my local libary in 2004, but now the library does not have it anymore.

  • Very good. Was that bit when the TARDIS was on the lorry from "Claws of Axos"?

  • Terminal 2? Gatwick only had one terminal in the sixties!

But apart from silly little nitpicking details like that, this is a great recon.

  • yeah well incase your forgetting the doctor can travel in time

  • And in case you're forgetting the exact start date of EOTD was given in the closing cliffhanger scene at the end of previous story: July the 20th, 1966.

It was broadcast in May 1967 so, yeah, the Doctor did travel in time, nearly one year into the past!

  • But this is still a great reconstruction anyway!

  • That last bit was from the Avengers.

  • By the by, where did you get the film clips? Did they save portions of these episodes, or are they from a different serial with similar scenes?

  • we will have to see how the cyberman invasion story turns out, they animated it and used the orignal soundtrack. hopefully most of the lost episodes can be `remade`

  • Hopefully, better done than "Shada" in any case...

  • from what i`ve seen belive me it is, its been amimated to look like the origonal episodes.

  • Hey, I'm a massive New Who fan, so I'm a bit bewildered from the whole recon business - is this not the actual episode at all? Or did you use a mix of the old and new episode???

    Very confused though extremely intrigued!

    Serialangel

  • its a lost epiosde!!!!!!! Only episode 2 survies.

  • Wikipedia. ;D

Many Doctor Who episodes were wiped during the late 1960s. Very few episodes from the Troughton era survive, (William Hartnell lost lots too).

In the case of Evil of the Daleks, only episode 2 survives in full. But MOST of the stories have an intact soundtrack, and some clips from off-screen recordings. This is a mighty-fine reconsturction..

  • ALL stories have an intact soundtrack.

  • I read that they were destroyed in 1977 or around that time.

  • Im planning to make a reconstuction using Computor animation, this recon will help me get an idea of whats happening god job. 5 stars

  • ?????????

  • WTF

  • This is that freaky thing where only the cars and robots move right.

  • Best recon i've ever seen!! :)

  • a-maz-ing.

  • This recon is absolutely brilliant!

  • Um which doctor is this, the 1st one?

(sorry I just got into doctor who)

  • It's the 2nd Doctor. If you want to see the 1st Doctor, go to "An Unearthly Child" - the very first episode ever.

  • Great job.Such a shame so many Troughton stories were wiped,I'd like to see reconstructions out on dvd.

  • ive been wantn to see this peisode bad. by the way i have complete sets of tom baker and a few other doctors if anyones interested in buying, must live in america message sheik

  • This is quite the amazing recon. It was a bit funny - toward the end the fancy old car was driving and it drove past a modern SUV. :) I suppose you've used clips of other things, then.

  • wow... you've gotten some good compliments, well while I don't think your the next coming of christ as metelcloud does I appriciate your hard work even when it's abit over the top at times.

  • This is absolutely extraoridnary recon. You should do this professionally! (if you don't already.) thankyou very much for this post. it's as if the episode was recovered.

  • This is somewhat cute, somewhat funny and somewhat amazing! Good work :D

  • i have to agree, it is kinda hard not to laugh, but it is in a good way, as this was pretty much done using stills.

  • "TARDIS is a gallic word." Ha!

  • Sooooo much better than Loose Canon. I love this serial and so I can't wait to watch what you've done with the rest of this episode! I hope you'll think about uploading it as an avi for download somewhere too. Fantastic work. ^__^

  • Loose Cannon havn't made a reconstruction of this, so you don't know.

  • Really? It must have been some other reconstruction that very closely resembled Loose Cannon's style that I saw. My mistake.

  • Oh yeah, there was a reconstruction by Joint Venture of The Evil of The Daleks, but wasn't very good though.

  • Great job.

  • You must be worshiped for you are the next coming of christ

  • You are a GOD!
