Hey, I have never played an Ace Combat game before but I saw a review of this in game informer and it looked sweet. all the videos I have seen look amazing as well.
What are some of the other Ace Combat games? which are the betters? I hear alot of people hating the dog fight mode or w/e it seems cool but I have no clue what it use to be like
@pds0303 Well new Ace. If you have a playstaition 1 or 2 handy you could play Ace combat 1 through 0 (0 comes after 5 apperently) or if you have an Xbox you could play Acecombat 6. My personal favoraties are number 2 through 0 because im a big story geek and the world they made with this series has alot of depth. Also as you have seen this is some of the best game music ever made :D Hope this helps you. P.S. Dog fight mode makes us elitists cringe with the lack of skill involved :P
Cuz only Russia currently possesses a Military that can go toe to toe with the American military without the use of gorilla warfare (which is called camping in FPS games). All they have to do to balance the planes or make some more formiddable is to have a customization system that improves things like speed, maneuverability, stealth ,A-A, A-G, and payloads. And all planes start at the same level initially but as you earn things like money or exp through online or single player you can custom make your plane the way you want so you could turn what would have been a bomber into a fighter plane or make something like an f-16 be on par with an F-22.
@SoulCrapper Assault horizon.. You can add skills to your planes.. for instance, Stealth, Enhanced weapons, extra armor, quicker turning, etc.. you can add up to 6 skills for your plane to potentially turn a fail of a plane (fishbed) into a killer..

To all the raging folk here THIS is what OUGHT to be put in:
A mode where you can filter out actual planes when you set up the match. If you're not a fan of the Raptor then you can make it blocked in your session. Personally I hate the PAK-FA, but it's part of the game. Think of it like a head-shot from a pistol at 75 feet from someone falling into last stand in CoD. Can it be annoying? Yes. Does it make playing the game not worth it? HELL NO. Take it with a grain of salt and just have fun.
lol, I don't get why people rage over the F-22, it only has balanced stats but it's special weapons suck compared to the one that the Su-35 has, not only that in this game you can counter ANYONE as long it's a Fighter or Multirole, I took down a couple of Raptor with the Mig-21. Also if you are host you can remove the top tier aircraft. Also the Pak-Fa is LITERALLY no different than the Raptor
A ton of planes in the game are better than the F-22, people. The F-22 doesn't compare to the Su-35 or Su-47 in turning capabilities, and then there's the PAK-FA... Besides, the F-22 is NOT overused in the game. I've played around 30 online deathmatches, and everyone was using a variety of planes.

The game would be better without dogfight mode. It caused me to crash into the ground 4 times already. And I've only had the game for 3 days. I found it more fun to fly helicopters and bombers in this game than fighters.
Overall, not a bad game. But the gameplay mechanics need work, the story is clichéd, and the characters are mostly one-dimensional.
Even so, B-1B Lancers and AH-64D Apaches for the win!
@XStormfalconX Dude what are you talking about! DFM was what made this game superior. I'm tired of just circling the target till you get a lock. DFM makes it much easier
@SpitfireWonderbolts Glad you liked it. I wasn't impressed with it. I prefer circling around the target, it's more challenging. DFM takes a lot of the gameplay away from the player. They might as well make it a cinematic sequence.
In DFM, how the hell can an F-15C perform a cobra maneuver like an F-22 to get behind an MiG-31? Yeah, right.

@SpitfireWonderbolts Well...DFM does a little more than that, it makes it almost impossible to dodge missiles. In other AC games you could dodge missiles a lot more easily by doing some barrel rolls. You can't do that here. There are basically no physics in this game.

the night before AH's release i was on AC6. everyone was in F-22's and I was in an F-14. I couldnt get a clear shot because i wasnt going to use SP weapons, however i was never shot down because i know how to Fly the F-14. The second match I was in first place, Everyone was still in F-22;s. Still no SP weapons. Kinda like the one on one online i did with a CFA. I had an F-15, and I owned the skies over a super plane.
@dogfightvj I know but I was really pissed at the F-22 on ace combat 6 and dam every single player used a F-22 WHILE I was the only one using a mirage 2000 sorry if i mispelled it but you get the point.and right now im enjoying using a helicopter. thanks to ace combat 7

@XSuperTortugaX Namco stressed greatly that this is NOT Ace Combat 7, Ace Combat 7 will probably be in Strangereal and go back to the Ace Combat everyone loves.. Assault Horizon is a rebirth of the series to probably test out the new engines and see how people fare with the CRA system..

@Strixlord That kind of theme seems old, 1970s old really, with the X Wing fighting against the Flying Fortress the Death Star, and going into the long tunnel to bring it down.......I mean it a good concept to use once or twice but 4 times seems a bit too much and going a 5th would be sorta dumb.....

can somebody tell me how to play this mode? I don' know if Im supposed to kill the enemy team or kill ground targets or what -_- somebody give me a step by step guide
@bossgen The point of the game is for attackers, multiroles, and helicopters to destroy certain ground targets around the map. that frees up ASM mode for the enemy hq. that way you can enter asm mode and deal damage to the enemy hq. However, fighters and multirole go around and try to prevent that from happening. once your hq is near destruction, bombers become available to use, which can easily turn a tide of the battle. The first team to destroy the hq wins.
I'll admit this looks good. I just hope that the default QAAM's given to you in DFM are not too broken. Hell, QAAM's couldn't track targets as well as the missiles fired in DFM.

@dogfightvj I know but I was really pissed at the F-22 on ace combat 6 and dam every single player used a F-22 WHILE I was the only one using a mirage 2000 sorry if i mispelled it but you get the point.and right now im enjoying using a helicopter. thanks to ace combat 7

@XSuperTortugaX Namco stressed greatly that this is NOT Ace Combat 7, Ace Combat 7 will probably be in Strangereal and go back to the Ace Combat everyone loves.. Assault Horizon is a rebirth of the series to probably test out the new engines and see how people fare with the CRA system..

@Strixlord That kind of theme seems old, 1970s old really, with the X Wing fighting against the Flying Fortress the Death Star, and going into the long tunnel to bring it down.......I mean it a good concept to use once or twice but 4 times seems a bit too much and going a 5th would be sorta dumb.....

@ct9222 theres not gonna be an ace combat 07 thats why in the past ace combat assault horizon review they said that this game is in the real world but still i wish they could remake AC04 but this time with DFM ASM and counter manouvers and better grpahics and camera

@XSuperTortugaX in one way i think it's true, but i had some problems with the pak-fa too, the same problems, but now that i have the aircraft i really liked it and i use it a lot hahaha and it's because i like it not because i want to beat everyone, and even so, you can beat a F-22 or pak-fa with a F-4 ¬¬ believe me

@XSuperTortugaX or you can go for a SU-35, 47, PAK-FA or Typhoon, i beat a lot of F-22 with those airplanes but if you have some skill you can beat them with a lot of airplanes, i few times a mother fucker with a su-25 shot me down more than once and i was using a PAK-FA xD those things happen lol

can somebody tell me how to play this mode? I don' know if Im supposed to kill the enemy team or kill ground targets or what -_- somebody give me a step by step guide

@bossgen The point of the game is for attackers, multiroles, and helicopters to destroy certain ground targets around the map. that frees up ASM mode for the enemy hq. that way you can enter asm mode and deal damage to the enemy hq. However, fighters and multirole go around and try to prevent that from happening. once your hq is near destruction, bombers become available to use, which can easily turn a tide of the battle. The first team to destroy the hq wins.

I'll admit this looks good. I just hope that the default QAAM's given to you in DFM are not too broken. Hell, QAAM's couldn't track targets as well as the missiles fired in DFM.
