  • Thank you dude so much for taking time out of your day to give fellow dragon owners tips on how to clip dragon claws correctly. I have 3 children and have been trying to think up a good way to dull the nails so not scratch the kids while playing with her. Thanks : ) your Awesome!

  • cant u just put a bunch of rough rocks in her cage

  • Thank you!!

  • Thanks this is great!

  • Was your lizard a bit... crazy the first time you tried? My lizard gets freaked out by water, so i'm not sure how she'll react to her nails getting cut.

  • awesome vid!! super helpful..and beautiful beardie!! my big guy is almost 8 months, and i havnt trimmed his nails. im goin to try and do it myself, hes a mommas boy LOL are you on snakebitstv.ning?

  • thanx for doin the video cos i didnt think u could trim their nails as nothing is ever mentioned with health and care of beardies.glad to say i had an easier time than u.considering it was his first time...lol ..thanx again xx

  • heyy ardx1 good video thanks when i cut my dragons nails do i cut them right the way across?on the top of the quick>?

  • I'm not sure what you mean. But, you don't cut the quick at all, thats the clearish part, that looks similar to dried glue. you're just cutting off the black nail that extends past the quick.

  • ok thanks very much

  • hey ard x1 when you cut the nail do you cut it straight across ? so its flat or curvy or how thanks for the vid!

  • Thanks - took the fear out of doing it. Took me less then a minute and I'm so happy it's done - he was killing me !

  • thankyou very much, this helps alot :)

  • Thanks. I might be brave enough to do this now. Earl is almost two and I've never clipped his nails. I put some coarse rock in his home, hoping he would wear them down naturally, but they just keep getting longer ( and sharper).

  • Thank you, my bearded dragon needs her nails clipped, and finally I know how to do it! She only has three feet, so this should be easy, lol.

  • no. not the whitish part at all. just the black that starts past the whiteish.

  • Thanks for the video. We are new to our dragon, and were sick of watching him struggle to get his nails out of our shirts, and off of his log in the tank. This helped a bunch. Thanks again.

  • you're very welcome. if you have other questions feel free to ask.

  • ty ty for the video and directiions :)

  • you're very welcome.

  • Thanks so much man lol my dragon just cut me up lol it brought blood :O and i said screw this im learning to cut my dragons nails :P

  • haha! sometimes you need to get just frustrated enough to do what needs to be done. take care.

  • Thank you!!! That was definitely helpful

  • you're welcome, good luck.

  • so my beardie the white part is just about as long as his nail. so is it just the very tip?? my beardie is only like 6-8 month but man o man does he got claws..OUCH

  • yes. just the tip, if you trim a little more often, the quick will actually get shorter.

  • woah ive never cut my beardies nails

i mean i wanted to but i was always scared i would hurt him, thnx for the vid he needs a good trim 8D

  • you're welcome. take care.

  • Thanks for the vid, I need to clip my dragon's nails and didn't know how. [He really only has 2 nails left]. When I bought him he was missing practically all his toes, I read up that it was a result of the breeder housing too many together. I'll have to wait tho, he has gone into hibernation for winter, don't get to see him for a few months of the year. :(

  • That's too bad. Good luck with your dragon. They are great pets.

  • hey im getting a dragon in a few days. i was wondering how early you should start trimming their nails

  • As soon as possible.

  • when should I do this?:)

  • As needed.

  • hi my beardies claws arent ecactly sharp but they are starting to curl under now and she appears to struggle to walk sometimes and i dont exactly understand what u mean how to clip them...... i dont want to hurt her as she will never forgive me lol please help thanx claire from UK

  • all dragons nails have a natural curl. just stay on top of the trimming and you wont have issues. you are just trimming the black part of the nail, that extends past the quick (the quick is the white/clear portion under the black nail itself.)

  • i was just wondering do u have to cut their nails pointed or straight

  • its up to you. i cut my dragons so that they are straight across. she still climbs her log just fine, and leaves less cuts on my neck, arms, and hands, when i handle her. in other words, it doesnt matter.

  • hey thanks alot for this that helps me out lots kool dragon man!

  • thanks! im glad this helps you out! take care.

  • how regualarly do you have to do that?

  • As needed.

  • Glad to hear my video helped you out.

Believe me I know all about those scratches!

From the research I gathered, the sooner you start trimming on a regular basis, the better, it will also get him/her used to the procedure. As long as like I said in my video, you are cutting just excess nail past the clear part. What you trim should be just black nail only, nothing more. Good luck, and take your time.

  • hey thanks. i think i'll try putting my dragon up on his log aswell because at the moment i live with only my sisters and my mom and they don't want to hold it.

  • No problem. Hopefully you get the idea, the lighting and the picture were not too great. *shrug*

Let me know if you have other questions.

    Take care.

  • I cut my dragons nails the other day and it went well. He didn't even really notice. Although I noticed one of his nails was missing. So it must of got caught on something :\

  • good to hear.

    that happens.

    take care.
