@hellfighter496 technically truth started the war because he was looking for an artifact to activate the halo's become a god, and annihilate anything and everything in his path, the humans weren't going to have that, so they created the spartans to try and stop him as a last resort......It worked.

@95silverado1500 truth didnt start it. a brute ship with tartarus on it found harvest while on a search for relics. the prophets demaned it to be glassed as the relics were "fake" and continue searching. macabeus "tartarus's" uncle disobayed and went onto harvest and started a war as it was the grunts who had the very first shot of it. after the bad resulta of the spartan one program the spartan II's were very effective such as master cheif,kurt,linda,kelly they were built for war
