Actually, he parried!

To explain, SF has a special way of blocking called parrying, instead of moving the controller stick away from your opponent you move it toward him. The difference is parrying lets you block any attack without taking ANY damage, the hard part being you have 0.2 seconds to time it right.

Now we come to the part why the crowd roared after he pulled this one off: he had to parry EVERY one of those kicks and then went into a finish-super while having virtually no health left!

@WanderingFool100 Pretty simple really. He had one win and one loss.If he didn't parry every hit he would've lost the tournament. Check out his life bar before the super parry.

@0peppers You misunderstood my question. Obviously he would've lost had he gotten hit. What I meant was did he have to parry 17 different times to stop the super. I think I know the answer now. It could be that he only had to block once if the game considers the super just one move but I don't think it does.

@WanderingFool100 Sorry about that. Yeah not too sure either how the game works since I haven't played that version. But I think he only had to parry 4 or 5 times by the looks of it. I don't think the game was made so meticulous as to parry every single shot manually.

This is just like a scene out of a movie, you can here the crowd taunting Ken's user when hes being reluctant "this IS a fight" they scream. But then a totally unexpected comeback of epic proporitions unfolds, the user becoming one with the computer each choice and motion fluid and perfect. This was divine.

I'm assuming Daigo was one step ahead of Justin. Justin's strategy was so focused on doing Chun-Li's Super Combo move, while Daigo picked up on it, and just took it, and went with it by taking the parrying approach. Knowing that Daigo has played and studied the game a lot. like a pro, he risked it all with incredibly hard at timing it. Finally Daigo pulled it off with now that his guard was up. BUT FINISH it up like that?! is incredibly impressive. got to love, strategy.
