@dinnerandashow When Cooper fell down they pulled him back through the curtains and while they made attempts to resuscitate him the show went on with other acts using the small piece of stage in front of the curtains. The rumour was that while they were performing Cooper's feet could still be seen sticking through the curtain, although I've seen no real evidence that this was true.

Even though I was six at the time can remember this show. I didn't see this actually happen as I was put to bed before the show ended. I only heard he died the following day as I liked Cooper a lot as a child.

I have very few other memories from that time, some things do stick in your memory for compelling reasons...

Tommy Cooper was unpredictible he often did stuff that wasnt planned and like i said in another comment the guy could get laughs by doing just a simple thing, as far as the audience knew it was part of the act. My parents were watching this on tv as it happend and they thought it was part of the act, everyone did untill they suddenly cut it off air. They were a bunch of people who went there for the comedy to laugh

When they did click that something was wrong it was to late but the one thing that i dont agree with is that they carried on with the show, they closed the curtain and tried to revive him in near enough darkness also the paramedics took awhile getting to him, otherwise he may have survived.
