Nine years have passed and I still can't believe WCW is gone. I've only watched pro wrestling once in awhile over the years because frankly it's not as fun as it was during the 80's and 90's.
@MatasakoScar i know i miss if TNA where to shut down no onw would care like they did whean wcw died even some wwf fans where sad to see it die it's bad that vince russo has not larned his listen from WCW by bring Hogan & bischoff to TNA
i didnt kno WCW had a NIght of Champions. Why the hell does WWE steal the dumb ppvs like this and Great American Bash, which now they're changing it to just "The Bash". The gayest shit ever, The Bash. What a joke. I think they should take Fall Brawl/War Games World War 3, even Bash at the Beach would be a good July PPV. But cant be surprised bc thats what you get when your Chairman of the Board is named Vince, youll have plenty of dumb shit for years to come.
@nicknitro6969 I understand your anger, but it is not stealing when you own it... And, well, for part they have ppv that have similarities: WW3 look quit like a Royal Rumble, war game well they now have the hell in a cell...
@hbk2hhh O.k: War game was inside a cage. Hell in a cell is inside a cage. War game was playing on destruction of the human body by a brutal match and possibly ending careers, hell in a cell is playing on the destruction of the human and possibly ending careers. In both case, they try to sell it as being beyond human or inhuman, and they both lead to bloody confrontations to finish a feud. Even if the format are not similar (large team vs individual), it's serve many of the same functions.
@therrydicule war games was set up for two stables to fued and end it in a steal cage hell in a cell is just a match people fued in it never ends there and now it isnt even as important because a fued could just get started and hey its hell in a cell ppv gotta put them in the cage. Besides that war games is a double ring double cage match with entrees every 2 minuets and hell in a cell starts off with both men in the cage. War games is an i quit match and hell in a cell is a match in a cage

@hbk2hhh Hum, let see? What about Hart vs Undertaker? That feud had finish in a hell in a cell and it was the climax of it. Undertaker vs Mankind? More recently, Undertaker vs Cm Punk Certainly the climax and certainly the end of that feud. Sure, sometime it's not really the climax (big boss man vs taker or HHH vs Nash), but same thing could be say about the XVI War games. In both case, it is often the end and/or a climax point of a feud, the difference is the type of actors and the format.
@nicknitro6969 it isnt really stealing wwe bought the rights to all those but if they were to use ppv names i would say wargames, halloween havoc, and bash at the beach
I love that video. The only thing that doesn't make sense though is why Piper is in it, considering that he is the only guy in the video to never be WCW World Champ.
If it's possible, can anyone give me the name of the song played in this video?
By the way, every time I watch this, I miss WCW more and more. The NWA days were great, and I'm glad they emphasised it a lot in this. And when people say WCW did not make their own wrestlers, I agree with it to an extent. What do you say about Goldberg or DDP?
I miss wrestling of the 80s the stuff they put out today is just crap.the stars today can hold a candle to a ric flair or jimmy snuka, hulk hogan, dusty rhodes, or tag team like the Von Eric's,the Samoans, road warriors, or freebirds. Vince McMahon you are an ass
it's a wcw promo. most of the guys are wcw guys such as sting, ron simmons (before he went to the wwf), giant, rhodes, funk, muta, etc. honestly when i think of nash and sid, i think more of wcw than wwf...piper, hogan, macho man i will always remember them as wwf guys.
youre an idiot. just because YOU saw them in wwe first doesnt mean they were wwe stars. vader, ddp, Luger, big dust, booker t, scott steiner, Flair, giant, goldberg, simmons, windam, funk, & SID were all stars in wcw(or some incarnation) before they did anything in wwe. Not to mention Sting & Muta and more ho never even touched wwe.
You're the idiot, moron. You need to read properly then reply. I know most of them were originally from wcw but they made it big in wwf first because wcw didn't have the capability of making stars. And windham and funk, you actually consider them stars? That proves you're the idiot.
Please stop man. Windham and Funk were huge stars. Funk was a top draw for most of his career and Windham was over HUGE from the mid to late 80s in NWA/WCW. Vader became a star in Japan and then WCW. Simmons was world champ in WCW and was more over there than in the WWF. Get your facts straight an if you weren't watching before the mid-90s then at least read up on these guys.
If you were a die hard WCW fan like me, this certainly brings tears to your eyes everytime you see this and hearing the music is just so upsetting.
I was shocked in disbelief on that dark night, but i knewed something bad was happening at the time cause all of the WCW stars were leaving and the company was fading rapidly.
Kinda messed up how it ended. It started out as a good-bye show but by the end of the night it turned into a WWE storyline. WCW was over before this episode of Nitro was over. When Sting beat Flair that was the end. That Simulcast doesn't count as WCW and neither does Shane McMahon standing in their ring. I Kinda Wish They would have let the show end differently by maybe letting the past WCW guys do a tribute or something instead of just airing their storyline on WCW television.
wcw was without a doubt, the greatest wrestling promotion of all time.

look at these little marks.
Night of Chmapions wasn't a ppv neither was it a wcw mainstay.
It was the name of the Final Nitro episode, as each title was defended.
Since WWE owns the thing now, its only rational to put two and two together

Nash was a big part of wcw. He belongs in there. Muta, maybe not, he was not a big star in wcw.

Thats the day Pro Wrestling died, not just WCW.
All due respect, i tried to give WWE the benefit of the doubt, but over time even they're program is dry with real competition.
Its sad.....Not sure about Vince's claim about created pro wrestling, but he noubt closed it.
