Hi Ian,
Just wondering how high you had the antenna up...? I'm looking to get an 817 and this video just makes me want one even more...!!

Nice contact. With the SWR you had, I would bet that the little ft-817 had folded-back to a lot less than 5W -- that makes it even more impressive! FT-817 and FT-857/97 is notorious for a very aggressive protection circuit.

Bet you do even better this year, now old Sol's perked up a bit. I'll be out bike portable on 10 metres this summer Es season, hopefully.
I remember my little girl hassling me mid-qso like that! You sort of miss it when it ends.

Oh my goodness. Burnt sausage!
Hi Hi. Fine business, excellent example of what can be achieved with only 5W QRP!
Keep that 817 working hard, hope to work you on the bands.
Kind regards, Tony.

the ft 817 does a very good job, i have worked many USA stations and also japan with only 5 watts into a inverted dipole for 20m
so far 77 countries worked qrp with my ft 817 Nd
it really works !
Would have liked to see the antenna, bit of a QRP boy myself
