  • @TammiBaho Hey I hear with you joy.. Ive been using the diet suggested at the site WeightLossAction.Info works marvellously.. I myself lost a bunch of weight really fast. Highly Recommended,, :)

  • Why are people over 40 supposed to drink 4 glasses of milk a day? Because of the calcium? There are much better sources of calcium than milk, particularly if that milk is taking up 1/2 - 2/3 of the bulk of your daily diet!

  • He's got the point. To produce one pound of meat you have to produce 25 pounds of wheat and spend 30 gallons of water. Eating meat is what I'd call wasting ressources. It's like being in a restaurant with 24 people and you eating a steak while the others have nothing to eat at all. If you would switch to plants, all people would have enough to eat. And to you and the others would even have half a gallon of water to drink.

  • i totally believe we consume too much crap.

  • The food in the main grocrey stores is all crap, even the organic isn't so great, i mean its a lot better then anything else in there but the food i the western world is poison, Cancer rates are incredible and people are being fed lies and being manipulated by the media and everyone's not only buying into it, but defending it LOL

I guess its just a situation where i have to say "see ya wouldn't wanna be ya" lol

  • @jonman701 Thumbs up

  • Link? Look it up you lazy #@<&,

You know we can't post links here.

Milk is 90% water. And only 10% food.

The devil will tell many truths to sell one lie.

  • Milk that isn't molested by the Dog Chit families of FDA, Monsatan, or Disinfo, that is, unpasturized raw milk, cures many diseases and this convincing mysterious "expert" should know that.

    Hmmm?

  • Unpasteurised cow's milk cures many diseases? Link? Sounds like a bit of a stretch to me.

  • @staubfee

Like the man said, links don't get through.

Try a Google search for raw milk.Or try replacing the dot with a period in

    wwwdotraw-milk-factsdotcom/raw-medicinedothtml

I wouldn't drink raw milk from a feedlot or CAFO raised cow though. Milk intended for pasteurization is a completely different product from Certified Grade A raw milk.

  • @urpmi The milk in the USA has a lot of pus in it due to the use of somatotropin (hormone). Hormones are beefing up the udder which leads to mastitis. Mastitis is fought against with - again the benefit goes to the pharmaeutical industry - antibiotics. So either you drink pus or antibiotics or both. But it doesn't matter what you drink, because only profits matter. Cheers!

  • definitely cheating, I would think that the three or four glasses of milk are mostly water as well

  • Bittman isn't arguing for vegetarianism. Food Matters contains lots of recipes with meat in them. He's just saying that it's not healthy for our bodies or for the planet to eat so many animal products.

  • God, this guy just switches between comparing food by weight and comparing by calories as if it didn't make a difference.... So intellectually dishonest.

  • You're making too much of a mental slip. He said calories once.

  • I've got about 2 pounds and a half of crap in stuck in my colon right now. And it's not going anywhere any time soon. But it's part of me and I'm not ashamed.

  • This guy is off his bean. Calculating food we eat by weight? Really? One pint of milk is a pound, okay... but what percentage of that milk is just water? There's a huge difference between drinking 16 oz of milk and eating 16oz of cheeze. Why even go there...

  • Exactly! And how about a pound of lettuce?

  • Precisely. What's more, I can stop drinking milk and barely notice the difference, but consciously eating vegetarian meals is a much larger effort. I also know at least two people personally who became seriously ill after they stopped eating meat for a few weeks.

  • You can become unhealthy from not keeping your diet balanced in a veggie diet, just the same as a meat diet :3

  • @Zahlman I stopped eating meat 26 years ago -- by your reasoning I should be in the hospital or dead long ago. Did they replace the meat with cheese, pasta, sugar & junk food? Or did they start eating beans, nuts, seeds, raw fruits and salad greens? You get your vitamins from uncooked fruits & dark green leafy vegetables, not processed crap.

  • He's not saying that we should calculate our food by weight. He's saying that the USDA reports that the average American eats 3 pounds of food a day, much of it animal-based. That's all.

  • @kmarie1351 Weight of the food doesn't really mean anythning in terms of what it contains. Other foods can be heavier simply because they can contain more water or other fluids.

  • The problem is not that we eat too much meat or animal products but that much of it is processed, fried, greased, you name it. All the preserves and shit turn regular old chicken into junk food, like KFC, which I love to eat btw.

  • Thank you so much for sharing! I was just about to ask you what your weekly food regimen looks like.

  • Actually, cheesy puns are the lowest form of humor.

Had I thought you might be fun to engage in social discourse, I probably would not have opened by insulting you.

  • fielsjd, I think that chopin65's comment was completely acceptable on a page that talks about daily diet intake.

  • Thank you. I get very tired of these snipers who drop nasty notes and then jet.

  • Ha ha! fielsjd is priceless. Using sarcasm to point out how sarcasm sucks. perfect.

  • Too much meat is not the problem, the wrong kind of meat is. The meat in this country is so prosessed with antibiotics, hormones, etc, that it doesn't have any nutrutional value.

  • evidence?

  • The "nutritional value" of meat is far more to do with protein than it is to do with vitamins and minerals, and all the processing in the world (even finishing with deep frying on the consumer's end) isn't going to make the protein go away. Antibiotics and hormones aren't bad because of taking anything away from the meat; they're bad because you don't want them in your system.

  • @Zahlman You have good insight as well as strong points.
