  • was at this game, remember it well, they had even had to delay the kick off coz so many wanted to get in,great memories, hoddle was amazing that night, him & diego were magicians together.

  • after that hand of rascal goal same year I can't understand how he was welcome in Tottenham!!!

  • no prizes for guessing who the only person to dislike this video was!! f***ing joker!

  • was this before or after hand of god

  • @community it was a warm up game before the tournament

  • Diego was an humbre guy before Mexico 86'. After that...you know...

  • never knew this happened. Awesome the greatest player ever once adorned the cockrel on his chest. Testimonial or not its more than any other engllish club can say. COYS Long live Ossie!

  • @lastmarine Greatest player ever? Glenn might have a thing or two to say about that! But I see your point

  • Goddle made him look good with his passing.. :-)

  • SAMI AL JABER

  • how strange he looks in tottenhams colours. would have been great if maradona played in the Barclays League Div 1 back then.

  • Best Tottenham player ever. After Gareth Bale of course...

  • hate the game...not the player..! lol

  • It definitely happened. I was there to see it. It was just before the World Cup and it was a friendly. It was a testimonial so anyone can be invited to play.

  • anyone else find this really queer...

  • Didn't Beckham, Phil Neville, and Butt play for United last month in G.Neville's testimonial. Last time I checked none of them played for, were registered or loaned to Man Utd.

It is also common for a player to switch sides at half time.

Leeds United played 3 trialests a couple of days ago including J Lloyd-Samuel. None of them are registered to Leeds.

  • i jizzed in my pants with queen's brilliant song!

  • TESTIMONIAL, Anyone can play! End of Explanation!

  • Tottingham

    Great vid mate.

  • i think we should sign one of messi's friends

  • 1:38 isn't Maradona?? He was number 10.. nice try cheeky video filler ;)

  • @purejoydivided no thats glenn hoddle you fool!

  • @wahibtahrii I'm not sure I can credit this with a proper response. Of course it's not on there, this is a Testimonial game. Unbelievable...

  • @realexpert2086 what do you mean

  • @wahibtahrii This game is a friendly match but I can assure you it happened! That, my friend, is Diego Maradona, unless we were all victims of an elaborate hoax!

  • @wahibtahrii You have made my day with this nonsense. But I would stop now before you make yourself look truly silly. You obviously don't understand football. Priceless stuff though...

  • @realexpert2086 funniest conversation in history of youtube

  • @realexpert2086 too late for that

  • @realexpert2086 he google it !!!!!!!!!!!! beautiful llllmfaaaaaaoooooo

  • @wahibtahrii ok let me explain. This is not an official match. Do you not know what a testimonial match is? It is a match to honour a players career and they often feature players from other clubs who are friends playing alongside the player for whom the match is held. In this match Maradona is making a cameo appearance for Spurs for is friend Osvaldo Ardiles whose testimonial it was

  • @wahibtahrii its a Testimonial! a game like out of respect for another great player, lol

  • @wahibtahrii lol you can play for anyone in a freindly, the only rules are the ones agreed between the two teams. He never signed for spurs and a medical isn't a requirement anyway they just do that to make sure they aren't getting conned.

  • @wahibtahrii IT WAS A TESTIMONIAL, YOU MORON.

  • @wahibtahrii rules al bullshit, maradona never respected the rules

  • @wahibtahrii lol you're a fucking fool

  • @wahibtahrii your an idiot

  • @wahibtahrii unfortunately wahibtahrii, your account has been deleted so you will never read all of this abuse you are receiving, but put simply you are retarded

  • @JRB1882 spot on mate, i feel sorry for this guy...one comment he makes and gets thousand angry responses, this guy truly is a legend of youtube, maybe youtube should give him some kind of cup or something...

  • @wahibtahrii Oh you stupid idiot. It's a TESTIMONIAL game! Anyone can play for anyone else irrespective of who they are signed for, as long as they have the permission of everyone involved. See Gazza and Glenn Hoddle playing for Arsenal in one testimonial game, for example.

  • @wahibtahrii wow what a mong you are....

  • @wahibtahrii YOU SIR,ARE A CUNT!! that is whte hart lane and that was indeed diego marradona,i was 13 at the time and clearly remember it,and whats more is you raise no point whatsoever and manage to fuck that up also you illiterate pikey, now kindly fuck off! COYS!!

  • @realexpert2086

is this guy for real?? jessuuusss!!!

  • @realexpert2086 excellent peice of footage mate,i`m 39 now and supported spurs all my life(as far back as i can remember)and remember this somwhere, amazing stuff!

  • @wahibtahrii If that's not Maradona, then someone should have signed him, whoever he was. He looked pretty useful...

Thanks for making me laugh for the first time today!

  • @wahibtahrii hhahahahhhahhahaah WHAT AN !#*$#@$*

  • @wahibtahrii You are a fucking idiot! Are you fucking blind or stupid?

  • @wahibtahrii My god. Check the facts more closely before you comment. This is testimonial match for Osvaldo Ardiles who is a fellow argentine international and a former player of tottenham hotspurs. The match was played before the world cup in 1986. Well, can't expect 14 year old noobs to know this :-)

  • @wahibtahrii .rofl.stop commenting please.rofl.youre a joke.oh dear...

  • @wahibtahrii Do you even know anything about football? Do you know what a testimonial is? You absolute COCK!

  • @wahibtahrii I just want to vent some anger. You look like an elephant's anus. Cheers.

  • @wahibtahrii prick

  • song?

  • @Graneros7 Unfortunately, it's Queen - A Kind Of Magic...

  • Apparently thee great man was much taken with the Spurs strip. He particularly liked the fact that he could wipe his nose on the shirt without there being any obviously incriminating evidence! But in all seriousness, surely the greatest player of them all and he still has a decent brain. When he visited Madame Tussauds, he had his photo taken with the wax work dummies of two of his heroes; Fidel Castro and Mahammed Ali. Who would Beckham have chosen? Probably Dolce & Gabbana!

  • DUUUUUUUDDDDEEEE.....Epic would love to have seen this proper

  • I'm a 3rd generation Spurs fan! How the f@£k did i not know about this night! Shhhhhiiit. COYS

  • wtf??? i thought it was just some photoshop trick they did when i saw maradona with the spurs jersey.

  • Maradona looks confused, im not sure he even knows where he is?

  • Chris Hughton haha. 00:15

  • @benmarks1984 No, it was Hoddle!!

  • hand ball or not what a player any man that made Falco look good must have been a god...Clive (TINY) Shelfside

  • Maradona + ardilles + hoddle = wow.

  • my two religions in the same match this is heaven !

  • Yeah he's good, but BALE IS BETTER! I'm joking.

  • @afbofficial two completely different players you cannot compare, I would like to have both in my dream team ;)

  • Cool! Some guy is selling this match on eBay.

  • Imagine if spurs could have signed him & then hung on to hoddle for a couple more years......think of the midfield & forward line we could have had.....

Ardiles, Hoddle, Waddle, Gascoigne, Maradona, Lineker....

    *wanks*

  • @supahdupahguy81 Guess who will take the freekick ?

  • My favorite spurs kit of all time...

    Great vid!

  • I was at this game, as a guest of Hummel who manufactured the kit at the time, Maradona was at his peak, awesome talent

  • How awesome is this? Never knew this happened! Classic Holsten shirt, Hoddle and Maradonna at the Lane! COYS!

  • Wicked wicked !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Quality !!!!!

    Cheeers

  • please do me a summary of what he says in English Maradona

  • @vingema I dont think its a good idea to research the team Spurs have drawn in the Champions League by putting their name into Google. They are playing Young Boys of Switzerland.

  • This is the most humble and clean cut I've ever seen Maradona. He seems quite withdrawn compared to his character in the 1986 World Cup. It's almost as if he was on some personality altering drug one month later in the 1986 World Cup. Of course, I'd never suggest that Maradona would touch drugs ;)

  • man, spurs shouldve tried harder to sign him.

Wouldve been a classic Spurs Legend.

  • Maradona plays for SPurs?!? Im a spurs fan and i didnt even know this.. THIS IS AWESOME!!! :D

  • @7sunit

That means you're too young mate.

    I was there, 15 years-old.

    Come on you Spurs !!!

  • wicked g8 posting

special night, love maradonna wish there was more action but the interview so ironic, will there be any problem lol

  • I agreed with Freddie.. Diego is a kind of magic.

    Great video, thanks man!

  • Maradona is an awful long way away from being my favourite man (& I'm even a socialist, I think) - but you watch him here & you can see what love he had for the game & what a competitor he was - at the tale end of a tiring European season, the World Cup that (he hoped) would define him in prospect ... & yet he found the time to not only play, but clearly to compete - he's getting into it with that full back ...

  • Cheers for posting mate. Good stuff

  • Yid Army!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • As a lifelong Spurs fan it's funny how I didn't even know about this. It's good Ossie eventually did get a testimonial: I remember his disgraceful treatment by opposition "fans" at the time of the Falklands affair in 1982 .And this match a month before Maradonna won the World Cup single-handed!

  • Diego was so touched by the reception from the Spurs fans that he claimed at the end of this interview (not translated very well by Ardiles) that he they made him feel like he was a member of the squad kicking the ball around on a Sunday afternoon for them. Diego continues to be a Spurs

  • @yakamon123 I went to the game with a load of my dads mates because he was working and couldn't get the time off. I remember the Shelf singing 'sign him up' most of the way through the game. And they reserved a special volley of abuse for Liam Brady, who was playing against us on the night!

  • As a Spurs fan & an Argie (incidentally both my favourtie Euro teams were playing in this game Spurs & Inter) it gives me goosbumps to see Diego pull on the glorious white kit and to wonder what it might have been like to see he and Hoddle in their prime and an ageing Oz with Waddle and Gary Mabbutt gracing the pitch together.

  • One thing I admire about most English football fans is that they recognise quality when they see it and they give credit where and when credit is due, regardless of whether they're supposed to "hate" the player or not - they are purists, true football lovers. In this case, despite the fact that Maradona pierced their hearts only months after this match, many English fans continue to hail him as the greatest.

  • Man ive been looking for this clip for ages!!!! Maradona looks awesome in the spurs kit!!

  • the way maradona talk here, a little bit like lionel messi

  • Absolutely brilliant. The best player to grace the game at the Lane. What an unbelievable sight to see. wish i was old enough to remember it. COME ON YOU SPURS!!!

  • Come On You Spurs !!!

    Diego~Legend !!!

  • Great footage of The Shelf, Ossie thought at the time he was finished because of injuries but remarkably the knee receovered at last and he was about to enjoy an Indian summer

  • English translation thanks

  • "He'd hardly slept" lol. Mmm I wonder why?

  • @HitMeQuick

he looked fucking wired when he turned up,no WD40 on the bog systern back then either

  • I went to this game as a guest of Hummel, what a great occasion it was.

  • Ossie's lost in translation... the first question from the journalist was kind, he didn't get the inention and by question N° 2 what Diego says is really touching, Ossie has lost the really meaning..... outstanding video any way !

  • Cant believe this is up here! First football match i ever went to. I had the same clip on VHS for years - an insert on saint and greavsie I think. This was MAy 86 litterally a month before the hand of god so funny to hear his response to Question at the end! You've made my day thanks for posting.

  • It's a pleasure. It was indeed Saint And Greavsie. I've got a few photos from the night as well...

  • @dg5060 lol!

No matter what you do after Hoddle + Maradona, it's all downhill from there!

  • today we are playing against inter again...

  • @dg5060 long live the spurs !!!!

  • And in 1958 Pelé playd a match for Millwall

  • @Party22Putte

Hmmm but he did actually play at home park, against plymouth argyle for santos ....AND LOST!

  • @Party22Putte Now that surely is a wind up! No ?!

  • I never knew this. And in the same year I was born too! I would loved to have been there and seen Maradona don the Spurs shirt. The greatest player ever, and he was upfront alongside Hoddle!! COYS

  • maradona AND hoddle in their prime, on the same pitch, at the same team, would've killed off the rest of the 80's

  • @xSoccerxCorex yeah, tottenham might even have won the league.

  • Because Ossie asked him! It was the only time.

  • why diego play for spurs? i neve hear about this!

he play in one match or more?

  • i never thought i wouls see that, thanks mate i was there aged 14 ill remember forever

  • I might have to pick you up there on the Queen bit?! What I will say is having been there for the game, it was one of the great nights at White Hart Lane.

  • 4 greats... spurs, maradona, queen and football :)

  • Yeah... Maradona is great, the best of the all time.

  • Brilliant, I remember that being shown on football focus all those years ago. COYS

  • great clip thanks for posting realexpert

  • quality clip cheers for posting it

  • great video, thanks for posting.

  • Amazing, thanks.

  • One of the best players to ever put on a Tottenham shirt.

  • Brilliant man! Absoluteley brilliant! Thanks:)

  • Brilliant! I have another video of this match, I'll upload it and place it as a video response.

  • It's been safely tucked away on VHS all these years. The time had come to bring it back...

  • can't believe i didn't know about this
