Trying to find a friend based on the fact that they are gay is like trying to find a friend just because they like brussels sprouts. Kinda silly huh? I think it's important to remember that if you have a gay friend they are just your friend. After all, I know plenty of gay men and women who are not cool people, just like I know a lot of heterosexual people who are not cool people. They are just people. Plain and simple. Being gay doesn't make one cool any more than being straight makes someone cool. I'd rather have someone think I'm cool, regardless of my sexuality.

I think it's important to remember that if you have a gay friend they are just your friend. NEVER introduce them as your gay friend and never tell a same sex gay friend "I'm not gay but if I were, I'd be gay with you." Don't sterotype them either. I like my gay friends because we share a sense of humor. Also, gay people have been through so much & their self acceptance is beautiful. But you should go on a case by case basis as you would all potential friends. Thanks for this video.

I understand where you're coming from but here is where you are wrong: We all make decisions about our friends when we meet them. It's not impossible to set your sites on making gay friends. BUT it does still have to happen organically. I am a straight woman who tends to get along really well with gay people (of both sexes & I too dislike the term fag hag). If this girl wants to be friends with someone gay whatever her reasons,she still has to give them a reason to want to be friends too.
