Enable:

defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode YES && killall Dock

Disable:

defaults write com.apple.dashboard devmode NO && killall Dock

all you have to do is press the plus sign on the bottom of dashboard and drag and hold the widget you want and press f12

You have to arrange the widget so it is out of the way.. Or you can put it back in the dashboard
