Fanboy wars have been around since the snes vs sega days, and yeah there's nothing wrong with being a video game critique, some games are just terrible and that's what the 3d sonic games are, terrible. I agree myself I've played this game before and the levels are hectic as all hell. And the bosses are too friggin easy. So I wouldn't call it the best Sonic game. My opinion on the best one is SA2 cuz of it's semi-darker story and it's kick-ass music

To see why everybody loves Sonic CD, you HAVE to get the good futures. If you just play to finish the game, it's gonna seem like a crappy Sonic game because the level design is the least direct of all the Sonic games. But if you actually try to find the Enemy Warpers or whatever they're called, you start to pick up on the quirks in the level design that give the game a fun but challenging scavenger hunt aspect that you just didn't get in Sonic 1-3 or Knuckles.

I remember being really stupid playing this game. I usually do okay in sonic games, but this game just seemed to give me a LOT of trouble. Maybe it was because it was 5 A.M. (I stayed up all night) and I just finished getting 100% on Sonic R, but I kept losing all my lives in the last levels. I hate how you NEED to get hit to beat the last boss, and the Gameover and bad future boss music REALLY creeps me out. Your doing really good already, but I was hoping you'd get the stones since I couldn't.

sonic CD dosnt really have bad level desing... it just got different, one thing is that you will rarely..if ever (long time ago since I played this) fall down and die... I dont even know if thats possible in this one... also the difficulty level is much smoother in Sonic CD rather than the other games.

Still Sonic CD is NOT the best sonic game, not the worst either, but its still pretty good.

Hmm... I personally see it as Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic CD and then Sonic 1 in order of Favourite to Least Favourite. But I agree with you that Sonic CD's special stages the best out of all of them.

Music wise, I never played the original SEGA CD version of the game, but as far as I'm aware the European Version had the same music as the Japanese. However, I only played it on Sonic Gems, which uses the American Version.
