@medicjimr Thanks. We always bring them in that way on tip ups. The line is thicker and if you're careful you can play them out pretty good without the line cutting into your hand. I believe they are a little sluggish, but pike are cold water fish and stay pretty spunky in winter. That first pike made one small run and you can barely hear the line zipping through my fingers, but I've had large pike make many runs, some very long runs at that.
I only have one question,...what lake are you fishing here? Not looking for for or asking for GPS coords, just wondering what lake this is.

That was cool. Now I am presuming since it's winter fish are sluggish not putting up a fight and reason bringing in line with bare hands.
