  • The 'Essar' album spawned two important singles, one of which you are hearing now. It is an up-dated version of a song Smokey wrote for the Four Tops back in 1966 called "Then" from their 'Four Tops On Top' album. The second single was a radio edit of 'I Can't Find'. This is not to be confused with the version on 'Love Smokey', which is done at a faster pace and isn't as good as the 'Essar' version. The 'Essar' album has never been issued on CD that I know of.

  • This is the funkiest that I have ever heard Smokey sound. I looove it. Gooo Smokey

  • It sounds like it could have been in The A-Team :-)

  • This is a great song, this should have been a big hit for smokey robinson.Live on 1984,smokey is one of the greatest songwriters of all time.

  • Why this wasn't the biggest hit of the 80s, I don't know. Great great song.

  • I forgot what a great funky song this was. It hit #106 on Billboard Hot 100 chart. It hit #33 on Billboard R&B chart. Nobody does it better than Smokey !!

  • Love this song..thanx for posting this..summer of 84 when this song hit the air waves

  • Been looking for this song forever. This is one of Smokey's best songs both lyrically and musically. This is from the album "Essar," which I think came out around the time of Marvin Gaye's death.
