the tune is a cover of a Manos Hadjidakis' (famous greek composer - my favorite ) song by G Lavranos, a greek jazz mucician of the sixties.

There is a bit of otherworldliness in this for me. I was in high school in a town you could charitably call a cultural backwater when the bossa nova hit, and by the time I had finished my time in the Air Force, it seemed quaint.. Thus, it never became a significant part of my life. Nor, of course, did cross-dressing. I guess I shall just look at this as an example of what was once called "Camp." Is it still called that?

Odd to feel left out in this case.

bossa nova was rather "out of season" when it first hit me almost 15 years ago. i guess it was my first & "easy" step into Jazz music. as for the crossdressing , i haven't done a step into that thing ...yet (lol)

Ja, Bossa Nova is a great era of populare and folks music.  I have a weakness for this kind of music. It has a come back ATM.

Some days ago I looked again the movie "Orfeu Negro". With this movie it began....

You must see this film. It has such a strong athmosphere . I hope you can get it in Greek or at least in English. The songs are not translated, of course. The German version is great class.

I look for such films at Ebay. Sometimes one get it for 2 Euros or something...

I think it is a classic today. At least for ppl who like old classics.

It was at that time in ´59/´60 successful in the cinemas. 

And got several prices like Oscar for best film (not english), Golden Palm, Golden Bear Berlinale... and more...

For Camus was this big and perhaps surprising success a bit tragical: he could never reach this quality of a film again. And all compared his later work with this film.
