  • A real enjoyable piece, thank you. I'm appreciative of the music of Johann Strauss

and Carl Michael Ziehrer . Who was the best? I think this goes to "beauty is in the

    eyes of the beholder" !

  • surely this man is the real waltz king , the music is fantastic

  • It's beautiful... but if this guy is the Walzerkönig, where is his golden statue?

Edi Strauss had to sue this guy to get him to stop using the Strauss name when giving concerts. He may have been a talented compser, but he was no King. More of an underhanded knave, really.

Having vented about Ziehrer as a person, let me also thank you for uploading this unique whistling walzer. Do you know the Orchestra and conductor?

  • I'm not sure. It could be Robert Stolz or Willy Boskovsky. Well, Johann was proclaimed the "king of waltz" because he was the most popular one at that time. But who says that there can be only one king? And anyway, being a king isn't proven by a golden statue (by the way, the strauss statue was black until the restauration in the 90ies). Many of Ziehers works exceed many strauss-waltzes in their skills. In my opinion Ziehrer can't nowadays be regarded as a underhanded knave.

  • @waldteufel78 As to Johann's talents I find it interesting that he would probably have agreed with you. Of his brother Joseph, he is known to have said, "Pepi is the more gifted of us two. I am merely the more popular." Nevertheless, regardless of the technical perfection of a particular waltz, few have been able to exude the sheer exuberance of many of Johann Strauss' works, which is probably what made him so popular.

  • @waldteufel78 Maybe we could just compromise and call him a Walzerfürst? As to being underhanded, I don't know about Europe, but in the USA and in Canada, using the Strauss name in such a libellous way would have gotten him sued today as well.

  • Lieber Waldteufel! Von welcher CD stammt diese Einspielung? Vielen Dank für Deine Antwort! LG

Vielen Dank.

  • Super meraviglioso!

  • i love this walzer! thank you! :)
