@Guitar4sanity "Black Dog" by Led Zepplin. The short neck PU bit after it is a bit from "Warrior" by Wishbone Ash. All the earlier stuff are my own compositions.
Yeah, really, if you are thinking of one, they fantastic - assuming it's the tone you are after. The guy who runs ceriatone has THE BEST customer service in the biz. Mine was tweaked slightly for me by them, but nothing to do with the gain. Seriously though, for flexibility, go with the "TMB", the second channel gives you 3 tone controls instead of ONE, AND you get a Master vol. This clip features varies settings, but the master never goes over 4, except clean, when it hit's about 6.
This 18 wt from Ceriatone will DROWN out the LOUDEST drummer I know. Have gigged with it a few times, in 1000+ capacity rooms. Granted, it was mic'ed, but held up on stage fine. Now if you are playing in a Metal band, maybe use it to record, but go w/ a stack live. For general, even fairly heavy rock, use 2 12's, and you will be fine. Seriously, this LOUD! NOT as loud as a Matchless DC30, but louder than ANY drums. No worries, it's a real gem. * I have ZERO financial interest, legit endorsement.
Thanks! Google search: "The Tone King", individual claims ownership AFTER I set up this site. Seems an amp company uses the my "nickname" also. I offer insight free to top amps. I have spent decades and $100K on gear. IF I've infringed, contact me w/ specifics, I am completely willing to discuss the issue. "Free use" of a nick name has legal protections. No confusion intended toward anyone.
Aww,i can't sit and do all this,i was just supposing lol.Anyhow,it's not something some important to discuss,at least it's not important for me so just enjoy what you have hahaha.
If you are thinking Van Halen and Billy Squire, probably not the regular 18wt clone, at least not without some tweaking. This amp is different animal than the 50 & 100 Marshalls. Mine does have the "TMB" second channel, which includes a master volume, so you can get both the pre-amp and output stage distortion, also you can jumper the two together.
If you use any sort of overdrive pedal at all (I use a Fulltone OCD), you can even shred. I believe Ceriatone make other Marshall clones.
Have not tried to match a G-n-R song, but yeah, it will do AC/DC great! I have heard rumored AD/DC used 18wt Marshalls for some of their classic records, but I wasn't there, who knows? If you have played a Marshall 18wt reissue, this amp has more dynamic range, and I think more faithful than the reissues.
Great amp. Did you build it? I'm planning a 18 watt project. I'm looking to replicate the 1974x as close as possible without spending 2300 on a new one. I've looked at MOJO, Weber, Ceriatone etc. Any advice?
I am familiar with both the Mojo & Weber, and they have thier supporters. After extensive research (including other kits as well) I am happy to have gone with Ceriatone. Only $75 extra for them to hand solder it, AND the best customer service in the industry!
Nik at Ceriatone is the greatest. I have since switched some tubes (came w/ JJs), and will be doing a weekly video blog of different guitars and effects w/ the amp. Stay tuned!
U should have micd it, cause it sounded good, even thru the camera mic
