This band struck gold with their tenth album and they did it in 1977- a year filled with hit debut rock albums and some great releases from other veterans, as well. One hell of an accomplishment. I believe FLAE went triple platinum in its first year. Wow! I bought my copy in '77 and still cherish it (vinyl still rules!). I thought it would wear out from being played so much. SMB is still a great show some 34 years later- see them if you can.

if you don't listen to this on an ass-kicking stereo or headphones, you're missing out. the beeps at the end may have been unintended, but the producer (steve miller) made it sound like an approaching and retreating spacecraft, and the last few beeps have spatial echo-effect. everything about this album is awesome. even the obscure tunes are very entertaining. check out steve's 'mercury blues' cover and the star-studded guest artist track 'the window'- i believe curley cooke on guitar. awesome!
