Because they change haircuts? There's old bands like Led Zeppelin and the Beatles. Then there's Madonna, No Doubt, REM. I'd say the Red Hot Chili Peppers changed a lot. Beastie Boys changed. Lots of bands changed when they really got famous. That's why its natural. They didn't change to hide their talent, you just didn't like them because they changed. Like I said, it's OK to not like their new stuff. I was just saying how change isn't them leaving fans behind. Some just can't handle change.

I do also think they sold out. For years they played on stage in t-shirts and then suddenly they had a big stage show acting all melodramatic. The music is one thing but the image change isn't natural.

My music interest has also changed. While I still listen to old AFI, I have also grown fond of many other genre's. I also feel they have deep lyrics in their old albums. I also think their old stuff is some of their best work. Times change, but that doesn't mean they purposefully changed to abandon fans and become sellouts.

If AFI really were only about the music then they wouldn't be changing their haircuts every 5 minutes. People say "times change" as if it's normal for bands to completely change but it's not. Name some other bands that have done what AFI did. I personally can't think of any right now apart from Bad Religion's "Into The Unknown" album.
Something about AFI, regardless if you like their new stuff, their old stuff or a mix of all of it, something about them. . . no matter what you are going through, no matter what situation you are in, they have a song for that, and will 9 times out of 10 make you feel better by the end of the song. that is the 'magic' of afi and why I am glad I found them so long ago, to this day they still are my cure for the world.

I am a huge fan of AFI, I have all of their albums (Answer That, Very Proud of Ya, Shut Your Mouth, black sails, art of drowning, sing the sorrow, and decemberunderground) I don't disown any of their work, its all great because its all AFI. Some albums are better than others, but I like them all the same. I'm tired of people saying they sold out. They change with every album. Thats what makes them so unique! My Fav album though is Black Sails

Yea AFI has some good stuff but anything past Art of Drowning and Sing the Sorrow is fine for being music but sad that it's AFI. I applaud them for trying to be different and all but people support anything just because it's them.

I like east bay hardcore more.. yes, but their new stuffs.. are awesome too.
He can't sing like this, cuz of the troath surgery.

I fucking loved this album. And this was my fav song on it. I used to love AFI. Still do, but much less so than back in highschool hah.

I am a huge fan of AFI, I have all of their albums (Answer That, Very Proud of Ya, Shut Your Mouth, black sails, art of drowning, sing the sorrow, and decemberunderground) I don't disown any of their work, its all great because its all AFI. Some albums are better than others, but I like them all the same. I'm tired of people saying they sold out. They change with every album. Thats what makes them so unique! My Fav album though is Black Sails

sing the sorrow is the best no question, in my opinion one of the best, yes best albums in the history of rock music, but all their cd's are phenomenal.

totally agree! STS is so sick...thats when i first heard about them and ever since ive been listening to them...old and new... they've changed but not in a bad way...still a very solid band! and in some ways underrated 2

they are not a disgrace. if you dun't like that style you dunt have to listen to it. I personaly both, punk and pop.
If they were a disgrace everyone would be hatin on them, but theur are people who appreciate the are.

yeah, i first heard of em from miss murder, but unlike most people, i looked up more stuff by em. most kids my age say they love afi, and only know miss murder n love like winter.
Dun get me wrong, i love thoughs songs, but, I love the rest of they're music too.

Dude.. old AFI is unbeatalble punk. Their old music was so upbeat, in your face fuckers, type shit.. now its depressing. I wouldnt even catagorize them as punk anymore. Sing The Sorrow was thier gate way album to lameness... not bad but still lame. All in all they are a great band though...
