  • The energy on the old shit is way more raw and and fast bad ass adrenaline. Bass line is kick ass guitar catchy and vox sang with conviction.

  • Why the fuck would anyone wanna chose their new crap instead of this awesome kickass shit? Don't answer that but stay fashionable.

  • first song i ever learned on bass many moons ago, but i just do not understand how this song has only 33 hundred views??? posers.

  • @donpapinski because this song came out in 1995, and this video wasn't posted until 12 years later. and i'm sure there were other videos of this song but they were deleted because of copywrite laws

  • Good song but totally stolen from Refused.

  • this is the real gauge of seeling out and turning backs on their fans. how much do tickets to their shows cost now? more then 30 bucks? then ya they turned their backs on every fan who cant fucking pay that and are hence sellouts. i dont really care either way thats their choice but thats what i use to gauge that shit

  • Because they change haircuts? There's old bands like Led Zeppelin and the Beatles. Then there's Madonna, No Doubt, REM. I'd say the Red Hot Chili Peppers changed a lot. Beastie Boys changed. Lots of bands changed when they really got famous. That's why its natural. They didn't change to hide their talent, you just didn't like them because they changed. Like I said, it's OK to not like their new stuff. I was just saying how change isn't them leaving fans behind. Some just can't handle change.

  • @superomegamegacop13 We know you said that shit for thumbs ups bro. It's okay to be pissed off at a band you grew up loving turning into mainstreamed, contrived bullshit. It's okay to be fucking pissed. It's one things when fans get bored of a band.. that sucks... but when a band turns it's backs on their original fanbase it's like all those years we gave them meant nothing.

  • @masterthehate2 EXACTLY! THEY WOULDN'T EVEN SIGN MY ATASF!

  • @masterthehate2 EXACTLY! THEY WOULDN'T EVEN SIGN MY ATASF!

  • @masterthehate2 So, they can't change? They are now slaves to whatever the "fanbase" wants them to be? Don't kid yourself. They changed, you didn't, and you are upset. Not everyone wants to be like you and I'm glad you are so open minded that you can't imagine someone wanting to experience or try something new. This is what kills good music. When fan's no longer appreciate the band members themselves and instead pretend that "we made you so we own you." They are still making music. You left.

  • @Rumblingsauce You'll understand when you're older. Their old music (new when I was a kid) made me feel better about everything. I can't believe I'm about to do this but Manson said in bowling for columbine that music was the escape, it doesn't judge you for who you are it makes you feel better. They changed and sold out to this new wave emo movement.

  • @masterthehate2 Age? What does age have to do with it? I'm 28 and have listened to AFI since Shut Your Mouth album. That Manson quote doesn't even relate. You are mad because they changed. I never said it didn't make you feel better. I never said it judges. I never said it wasn't an escape. I said you act as if they "sold out" because they changed. They had to sing the same genre forever because their "fanbase" is too selfish to let them change. That sounds fair. It's your opinion though.

  • @Rumblingsauce I don't understand people like you. There's nothing wrong or selfish about not wanting a band to change their style. People listen to Slayer because they're fast and aggressive. People listen to Black Flag because they're raw and uncompromising. Everyone likes different things and for different reasons so to accuse someone of being close-minded just because they don't like AFI's new style is pretty ignorant to say the least.

  • @1978deus I have nothing against them not liking change. It's when they are "sell outs" and that they "turned on their fanbase" bullshit. Like they have to stay exactly the same or they are immediately sellouts and no longer care about their fans. That's what close minded is. If you don't like their new shit, don't like it. That's all fine. But the people who cry "oh no, they turned on their fans because they changed" are the ones that I was talking about. That clear it up for you?

  • @Rumblingsauce In my opinion they have turned their back on their old fans. They dismiss their early period as some stupid stuff they did when they were kids. Everyone singles out songs like Highschool Football Hero but they had songs with deep lyrics even from the first album.

I do also think they sold out. For years they played on stage in t-shirts and then suddenly they had a big stage show acting all melodramatic. The music is one thing but the image change isn't natural.

  • @1978deus Image change isn't natural? Well, that is your opinion. I personally feel it is a natural process. As I matured, I no longer wear jeans and ripped T-Shirts. My music interest has also changed. While I still listen to old AFI, I have also grown fond of many other genre's. I also feel they have deep lyrics in their old albums. I also think their old stuff is some of their best work. Times change, but that doesn't mean they purposefully changed to abandon fans and become sellouts.

  • @Rumblingsauce Image change is only natural for the attention-seeking whores in mainstream bands who are trying to make up for their lack of talent. If AFI really were only about the music then they wouldn't be changing their haircuts every 5 minutes. People say "times change" as if it's normal for bands to completely change but it's not. Name some other bands that have done what AFI did. I personally can't think of any right now apart from Bad Religion's "Into The Unknown" album.

  • Conversation with 2006 AFI:

Davey: Damn I love my devilish look...

Annoying Orange: Hey Davey! Hey Davey!

    Davey: Uh yeah?

    Annoying Orange: PLASTIC SURGURY

    Davey: AHH! AHH! (screams)

  • I forgot how much i enjoyed Afi since miss murder came out thank you for posting this

  • this song is good!

  • Waever. I flee from sluts like dis guy in 's. ninja'...!

  • Listen------? Y sub Me?!

  • Sean

Well he said to put my name here, didn't he?

  • anyone know what kind of bass amp on this recording?

  • @anok4me pretty sure its an ampeg, or a Galien Krueger

  • This album came out when I first got my drivers license in high school.. good memories :)

  • by far the best song on the album. besides i wanna mohawk

  • Something about AFI, regardless if you like their new stuff, their old stuff or a mix of all of it, something about them. . . no matter what you are going through, no matter what situation you are in, they have a song for that, and will 9 times out of 10 make you feel better by the end of the song. that is the 'magic' of afi and why I am glad I found them so long ago, to this day they still are my cure for the world.

  • im not gonna lie i started listening wen the art of drowning came out n stopped wit decemberunderground but this is wut dey shud still be playing itz beyond words

  • I just can't get enough of this amazing song!! What I hate is when people claim they LOVE AFI, but the only songs they know by them is Ms Murder, Kill Caustic, and Endlessly She Said. When I show my friends AFI's punk music, the old stuff, they say "this ain't AFI!" I hate people like that

  • @missjuggalettehomie So you hate your friends? hahahah

  • New AFI isn't AFI, it's really MCR performing behind AFI's name that's why...

  • oh gosh people.. bands choose to change the sound of their music, if you dont like them anymore, find another band that has the same hardcore raw sound as afi did in the 90's! Don't complain! :[ just enjoy and rock out to the music ...

  • Jade can't play punk. End of argument

  • @HoosierMF Jade was in a ton of punk bands before AFI, Redemption 87 and Loose Change to name a few :)

  • @zraider8066 That's not a ton and just because he was in punk bands doesn't mean he can play punk. Both of those bands suck dick

  • @HoosierMF what do you mean he cant play punk? are you retarded?? i'm not for jade but punk is the easyist form of rock possible. punk started because the musicians sucked at their instruements. its 3 chords and fast. ohhh! thats so hard!

  • @jverlander35 You obviously know nothing about punk or hardcore. Go back to your safe commercial music

  • @HoosierMF i definetly know more about punk then you do. and hardcore. i'm just saying punk is easy, its every musicians first stage of playing. its the few chords they know played fast and a couple of changes. you cant say someone cant play punk. you can say they dont have the image but punk is easy

  • @HoosierMF

How come whenever I go on an old school Afi song like this, you're always just argueing and pissing people off? I mean really. Are you that closedminded that thats all you do? You really gotta open your eyes.

  • @Abercrombieand1Bitch If people get pissed off by someone just because they have an opinion different to theirs, that's their problem. I'm not the 39 year-old loser in a shitty band pasting "put this on your page" comments everywhere.

  • @HoosierMF

Okay I didn't do that your probably thinking of someone else

Second, I was just saying that all you do is say "AFI sucks these days!" I mean really I'm not offended but just to give you a reality check no ones really listening...

  • @Abercrombieand1Bitch It's my opinion and I'll say it as many times as I like. I'm not a poser so I don't care if anyone reads it.

  • @HoosierMF That's the spirit!

  • @jverlander35 I wouldn't say the music that's the hard part, it's the energy. I've seen many a punk that played fine, but they had no energy live. It's all in the performance.

  • @ExcellentErnest ok i can agree with that. but it was just the facet hoosier was saying he cant play punk. because i agree with you, i have seen punk bands with little or no energy and that really effects the music

  • @jverlander35 He can't. He just copied Mark's style

  • @HoosierMF

    And plus, I'm 12

  • @jverlander35 You're easy.

  • This band was great in the 90's. Now it's all about Davey's clothing line and over produced crap rock. At least there is still some bands like NOFX who don't change to get more money.

  • @ggggggggwar or Rancid.

  • jade is a better guitarist? why because he fuking rules.

  • i still love afi but when they were hardcore like this jade or hunter? who ever was on the bass kicked ass.

  • favorite fucking AFI song EVER.

  • was this a cover??

  • @kyrtos514

    no its original

  • @thepumpkins.....What an idiot. Jade is amazing playing. Who cares if he is gay fuck off dude.

  • as gay as jade is he is a preety good guiter

  • @thepumpkins101 what does he have to do with this song anyways? Mark Stopholese was playing guitar...

  • @superomegamegacop13 seriously I know what you mean it makes me sad I was only introduced to them during Days of the Phoenix I wish I could have grown up with their earlier stuff like this :/

  • they were a more punk band back then but now there new album crash love is almost a different syle of music.

  • good times :)

  • i dont see how jade is a better guitarist :P

  • i love this song! i can totally relate to it!

  • this is one my of my favorite songs

  • fav afi song

  • ...the good 'ol days.

  • what ahppened?

  • haha..this is the first song i ever learned on bass...about 7 or 8 or somethin years ago

  • this is when they sounded a lot like bands like offspring and misfits

  • yeah plus they were on dexters label n misfits were there biggest influence

  • @luziox13x17 your right!! lucky for me that i like theme all!! :D

  • no i disagree davey sounds alot like anti-flag and gorilla biscuits mixed together.

  • Good song but very similar to Blind by Refused

  • this song came out first dumbass

  • No it didn't you idiot. Refused first demo 1992

  • fucking grewat song

  • afi es lo mejor

  • viva el che guevara

  • sale aweonao, q mierda tiene k ver eso

  • no,

    yo nomas decia

    xd

  • it feels like crap cause they were awesome and know........

  • haha some times it sounds like he's speaking Russian...but he's not. haha

  • back when they were still a pretty good hardcore band....

  • You should listen to Prelude 12/21, he's talking about you.

  • dont get me wrong i agree afi's old stuff is way better wether new old albulms the fact is nobody has a voice like davey and no one can compare he's 2 origional

  • so so true, davey is one lovely bitch lol

  • thanx dude i love this cd one of my favs!!!

  • i agree.. their first albums (very proud of ya, answer that and stay fashionable, shut your mouth and open your eyes) are some of the best albums i've EVER heard. i think they should have changed their name once sing the sorrows happened cause its not the same band at all.

  • what the hell happend to these guys? don't get me wrong they are still amazing musicians but what the hell? this is so fuckin PUNK and the new shit, well, we'll just say its not so fuckin punk. i don't understand.

  • No offense, but people like you are what drives bands down. You guys support anything that's put out.

  • that's bullshit. no. i like some of what's out now but they should go back to this. afi could have been the new misfits. now they're... it's a shame to say.

  • Why is it bullshit? Some ppl buy an album or go to see movies just because their fave band put it out or the actor is in it. There are movies that are crap and still earn a lot of money and a nom for an award. Yea AFI has some good stuff but anything past Art of Drowning and Sing the Sorrow is fine for being music but sad that it's AFI. I applaud them for trying to be different and all but people support anything just because it's them.

  • Not rly true, everythin' that AFI put out, is amazin' Punk/Hardcore/Emo ... whatever.

    They're the greatest band ever.

I like east bay hardcore more.. yes, but their new stuffs.. are awesome too.

He can't sing like this, cuz of the troath surgery.

Anyway, bands changin' / styles changin' .. get over it.

  • HAHA Nicely put.

I'm an AFI fan but i don't like the new stuff. i'm fan of this *Answer That...* AFI. I don't like what mall kids have done to AFI. STS and beyond is all thanks to mall kids.

  • I see this album all the time at my local record store, never listened to it but I love the Tarantino based cover. Sounds pretty good :D

  • I fucking loved this album. And this was my fav song on it. I used to love AFI. Still do, but much less so than back in highschool hah.

  • YOUR NAME HERE!

  • YEah, earlier today, one of my friends hated afi, and they wanted to know why i had such a passion for them ,so, i spent 30minutes telling them about afi and thei music evolution. Ill tell ya, they wont be hatin AFI no more

  • I love AFI.. Answer That & Stay Fashionable and Very Proud of Ya are the best in my opinion.

  • I am a huge fan of AFI, I have all of their albums (Answer That, Very Proud of Ya, Shut Your Mouth, black sails, art of drowning, sing the sorrow, and decemberunderground) I don't disown any of their work, its all great because its all AFI. Some albums are better than others, but I like them all the same. I'm tired of people saying they sold out. They change with every album. Thats what makes them so unique! My Fav album though is Black Sails

  • sing the sorrow is the best no question, in my opinion one of the best, yes best albums in the history of rock music, but all their cd's are phenomenal.

  • totally agree! STS is so sick...thats when i first heard about them and ever since ive been listening to them...old and new... they've changed but not in a bad way...still a very solid band! and in some ways underrated 2

  • this AFI awesome, new AFI, disgrace to humans

  • they are not a disgrace. if you dun't like that style you dunt have to listen to it. I personaly both, punk and pop.

If they were a disgrace everyone would be hatin on them, but theur are people who appreciate the are.

i love this punk, but, i also love their new stuff too.

if you dun't like it, just don't listen to it

  • I agree

  • yeah, i first heard of em from miss murder, but unlike most people, i looked up more stuff by em. most kids my age say they love afi, and only know miss murder n love like winter.

Dun get me wrong, i love thoughs songs, but, I love the rest of they're music too.

    AFI For EVER

  • i hope someday, afi will go back to this.

maybe it will make all the scene-posers fuck off, and old fans can enjoy what was real, again.

  • this has got to be the worst crap! i have ever heard...

  • F U! miguel115 go die!

  • forgive him exsanguination19,

migueal53115 obviously doesnt know what real punk is,

and more than obviously, doesnt know where AFI started off.

this is the AFI i grew up with.

and i prefer thier old stuff over thier new stuff. but nonetheless, they're amazing!

  • if you dun fucking like it, dun write shit you fucking pathetic poser!

this is real punk. go back to your simple plan!

if you can't appreciate this art, than GET OUT OF HERE!

  • listen pal, that statement was a joke! because my lil sister(shes 11) really likes this song. ive probably know more real punk music then u have ever heard of. "poser" how am i a poser by not liking emo...

  • hmm, sure, what is punk to you then? the all american rejects or somethin? i know real punk, and i love that shit. so, obviously your 11 year old sister has better taste in music than yourself.

i was saying poser, because, posers are wannabe/know it all type people who think they can talk shit even if they are naive on the subject. like yourself.

  • @miguel53115

    MY ASS

  • @miguel53115 "I have ever heard..." is not a full sentance, dumbass. Go back to asshole school

  • best song by afi. maybe the only one i like

  • heh i have this album vynal best part is you can find the real afi fans here and not those 13 yr old beenie bopers who love that decemberunderground shit... anyway my fav song in the album

  • your totally right, the real fans know all of their stuff, not just decemberunderground...I like their old stuff alot, their new stuff is cool too though

  • hey, i personnaly, i am 13. but, i love ALL of AFi. from Answer that and stay fashinoble all the way to decemberunderground to blaqk audio-cex cells. Yeah, i am thirteen, but i have such a passion for afi, it makes up for that.

    AFI FOR LIFE!!!!!

  • Dude.. old AFI is unbeatalble punk. Their old music was so upbeat, in your face fuckers, type shit.. now its depressing. I wouldnt even catagorize them as punk anymore. Sing The Sorrow was thier gate way album to lameness... not bad but still lame. All in all they are a great band though...

  • thats what i love about their nitro records...its upbeat and in your face, the fuck you attitude I love!

  • i love this song... the intro is amazing...

  • they used to have that fan connection when they were a small lable band but as soon as the money goes out went all their values that made them who they are!!!!!LOVE THE SONG THOUGH.

  • i think they changed because they wanted to try something

  • Like the resevoir dogs thing. but all in all it actually is not half bad.

  • yes.

where did the self-confident, positive lyrics AFI go?

  • this song is so awesome, unfortunately AFI went mainstream with Decemberunderground; you know I even liked some songs from Sing the Sorrow but it's just not the same as this.

  • i love the intro to this song.

  • whenever i hear a bass like this, i just cant help but smile

  • dude it is my favorite bass sound there is

  • duff mckagan had the best bass sound back in Guns N Roses

  • Great song, only he talked a bit glibberish at the time ;p
