@matts417 It's like old 1990s deathmatches. You start with the default weapon, then have to fly around and pick up new weapons. Every time you die, you lose all your power-ups.

I dont know this game, but Heroes in the Sky is a similar arcadish airplane shooter set in WW2 with all the MMO aspects (quests, items, skills, levelling up, trading, pvp)

Oh and it's free, addictive, many people play it, and the community is very supportive. I recommend it to everyone, just google it.

@Corrderio My computer is over the top, so I get high frames in everything. If there is an option to turn the shadows off, I'd try that first. Or at least turn them down if you can.

THis is a suprisingly buggy game. Put Textures to medium, and all shadows to low, with post processing off. V-Sync OFF will improve things, but I cant stand that to be off myself ( Screen tearing!!! ). It looks nice enough, but its really slow at times. Even in the main menu! If there was a way to limit the FPS to 30, then it would make turns smoother.

@cavedweller1996 TF2 all the way. Dogfighter doesn't have a single player campaign. It's just a simple little deathmatch type game. TF2 is the finest FPS ever made.

can you roll your aircraft inverted? looks like whenever the aircraft is turning it is 'capped' at certain rolling angle.

@seminolePP You can set it up for Easy controls or Advanced controls. The easy setup prevents you from doing barrel rolls, but it makes it much easier to point your plane in the direction you want it to go - so you can focus on the shooting more.

@ShizzProductions The community is fairly small - it's not hard to get a game going or anything, but it's nothing like TF2.

It's growing on a daily basis though. I think they have a free trial going on with Steam to promote the game right now. The developer seems committed to making this a long run.

@SmokeTreeAllDay Tell the game to look for a multiplayer game. As soon as the server browser opens, switch to the Friends tab and then back to the Internet tab. You'll be able to see all the active games.

It's a bug that should be fixed soon. Dedicated servers are on the way as well.

@dikkopuutnijverdal The action is supposed to be a throwback to arena deathmatches of the 1990s. It's retro, not dated. The graphics are very modern - great lighting and shadow effects. The only downside is no in-game AA.

@n1k962 It's a brand new independent game, so there are still bugs to be worked out. You can buy it now if you don't mind being part of something new - or you can wait for dedicated servers if you don't want to deal with the quirks.

I used an Xbox 360 controller for this gameplay. The game natively supports it, and the controls are smooth and intuitive.
