  • its strange but the more i practice, the luckier i get

  • Also in this rare instructional golfing film is comic/character

actor Bill Davidson..seen in fedora hat and suit at the left.

  • this may be a stupid question but is the guy in the video really bobby jones?

  • Yes.

  • This film opens cutely with Fields observing Jones from a bit of a distance and muttering "I don't believe it" at each swing. He peers out from behind a tree at one point. Fields almost seems intent on hiding from Jones, Davidson, and Oland. But as you see, they see him.

The instruction portion includes a long shot of Jones swinging a couple of times. The ball comes right at the camera, and rapidly, before veering off to the side. Some in the audience might have ducked!

  • I've given up golf" LOL it can't be that bad..."it's worse" lol

  • Ahhh...the good old days

  • W.C. in W.C. Fields stands for William Claude and his real last name is Dunkenfield

  • The actor in the hat is William B. Davidson, the sheriff in My Little Chickadee. This is a fun film, mostly taken up with Jones's instruction in a cutaway to a studio. Fields takes a rather poor swing at first, Jones advises him on how better to use his body, there's the switch to the studio for the lesson (slow-motion swings, lecture, etc.), then back to the course. Jones invites Fields to come to the clubhouse. Fields declines, staying behind to practice. His next swing is, of course, better.

  • Thanks super rare- this was a seris of Bobby Jones films that featured various Movie stars -note here is the actor who played Charlie Chan- can't tell who the man with the Hat is thou.

  • SteveAdler - the man you are referring to is the Bulgarian Yoceto Drousiev. Does that ring a bell?

  • wish he was playing today with the new equipment he would give tiger a tough time

  • That's Warner Oland between Bobby and Fields, he played Charlie Chan.!

  • Bobby had the sweetest southern drawl, he should have been in movies, pretty decent golfer too

  • whetted my appetite for more can someone get the rest on please?

The world's greatest golfer and juggler together sweet!

  • is there any more to this?

  • Yes, but I don't have it. Wish I did. If you google "Bobby Jones How I play golf" there is a DVD collection that you can purchase. Although, I have no connection with then.

  • According to imdb it is from "How to Break 90 #3: Hip Action" made in 1933. These six shorts by Bobby Jones were made after "How I play golf" (1931.) But they are included in the recent dvd box set which is around $129
