This film opens cutely with Fields observing Jones from a bit of a distance and muttering "I don't believe it" at each swing. He peers out from behind a tree at one point. Fields almost seems intent on hiding from Jones, Davidson, and Oland. But as you see, they see him.
The instruction portion includes a long shot of Jones swinging a couple of times. The ball comes right at the camera, and rapidly, before veering off to the side. Some in the audience might have ducked!
The actor in the hat is William B. Davidson, the sheriff in My Little Chickadee. This is a fun film, mostly taken up with Jones's instruction in a cutaway to a studio. Fields takes a rather poor swing at first, Jones advises him on how better to use his body, there's the switch to the studio for the lesson (slow-motion swings, lecture, etc.), then back to the course. Jones invites Fields to come to the clubhouse. Fields declines, staying behind to practice. His next swing is, of course, better.
Thanks super rare- this was a seris of Bobby Jones films that featured various Movie stars -note here is the actor who played Charlie Chan- can't tell who the man with the Hat is thou.
Yes, but I don't have it. Wish I did. If you google "Bobby Jones How I play golf" there is a DVD collection that you can purchase. Although, I have no connection with then.
According to imdb it is from "How to Break 90 #3: Hip Action" made in 1933. These six shorts by Bobby Jones were made after "How I play golf" (1931.) But they are included in the recent dvd box set which is around $129
its strange but the more i practice, the luckier i get
