Man, I've learned some of the beinging of this song and it's a kinda tough trying play it slowly and smoothly at the same time. You make it look like a tropical breeze...
you're really good, but what I miss in your work is the expression...hm it's not perfect but very good. and perfection is boring so that's a compliment! :-)
it looks like you are in a trans, and i love that, you look soo peaceful, you make it look sooo easy, ! damn you! lol, no, not really ;) i love the way you play !!how long have you bin playing the piano?!
I really like how you play with the tempo, very original, that makes this interpretation very personal. I just think you play it too loud.
And the way you play the third mvt is totally amazing, almost professional quality... sincerly you could make concerts... I simply know from experience that it is waaay easier to play alone in a little room than in front of a public!
I know many musicians who are masters at their instrument. Ladies and gentlemen, what you see and hear here is beyond mastery. Its excellence. My dear mother plays the first part of moonlight sonata with excellence, unfortunately cannot play the entire piece.

you feel the music, man ......i can't be like that ... and i dont think your gay :| is it only bad mouth? i'm not saying that's a bad thing, i'll love your music even your gay or not ^.^
And whats with the "gay" thing? Did Beethoven state that if your gay, you can't play the piece? What if Beethoven was gay? Would it mean only a gay person could play it?
What a stupid remark. What does sexual orientation have to do with this piece?
Who cares what he is. BTW, it's 2009, when will people get over the sexual bullshit and idiotic comments.
the year has nothing to do with it, everyone believes in different things and humans being a selfish entity, they will inevitably disagree and fight over something, or everything forever. I personally dont believe being gay is morally right, but Im not violent about it, but neither will I sit quietly by and watch it. Gays argue their side openly and I see no problem with the other side voicing theirs. Btw, maybe some people post just to get a reaction like yours.
Its about morals because depending on your viewpoint, its just wrong. I dont understand how you have yet to encounter someone who finds it morally wrong. You are going against nature, even actors who think its alright would jokingly use the term "the love that must not be named". Please though, dont tell me that its genetic, all research towards that has provided no evidence and actually suggests nurture over nature. If it isnt genetic, than its a choice and your morals help you decide.
Polluting the nevironment and cutting down trees are immoral, both hurt other people. You are lowering our enironmnets ability to create oxygen and you are destroying the oxygen and other natural resource for other people and animals. It is a different kind of immorality though. Homosexuality is a perversion of lust and many recent studies show that the homosexual tendancies in men come from bad experiences as children which warp their psyche. I would classify it maybe with adultery, or cheating
Brilliant, your render of this exquisite melody... furthermore, you ability to not only play the melody, but transmit the true feeling in every strand of one's heart.
me too i liked but some times can be depressing while you are trying to learn cause playing it over and over and the first movement its kinda sad.. gosh im going to play it right now i have so much time since i don't.. i hope i still remember the end lol XD
even if its true ... i see nothing wrong with it.. its not like it is you the one who is gay.. you shouldn't care.. i feel a little jealousy going on.
this sonata "quasi una fantasia" known as "moonlight" has 3 movements what is interesting about this sonata is that the first movement is the slowest (adagio sostenuto) .. even though normally in a sonata the fist one is played (Allegro).

Very nicely done. You emphasize all the right notes (=touch), which is what brings this piece alive. It took me 20 years before I finally figured that out.
What kind of piano is that? I looks nice but rather small which would be perfect for me. Is it just the angle of the camera or is it actually small? I have a keyboard and i want a nice piano but my parents don't want a big bulky one because it would be too hard to get into our house and take up a lot of space we don't have. Thanks if you reply!

It's about time someone played this properly on YouTube. I commend anyone for having a go at this piece but this is how it should be played. Well done! Lovely even tempo, great expression and you brought out the melody perfectly. It's a damn sight harder to play properly than people think.
C'est très belle musique! J'adore tout la musique de L.V. Beethoven, mais cette chanson est ma favorite bien sûr. J'aspire jouer piano comme ça un jour!

also i dont thnk, or actually you may have been, in the right mood to play this piece,... bieng truly fuked or feeling truly fuked helps to play this piece... try playing when your in such a mood i would listen to it.
i must also say that you play it softer than most here on youtube and indeed of most people ive heard play it otherwise, but i must insist delicatnes and infinite patiance while learning to play it delicatly, you have the potential to ply this piece with he quality of the mastersif you put the right effort in.
thank you for playing this with slow proper tempo, and almost the feel that i imagine with my mind, JUST gets too hard for me, but very good and i think you you have talent, soften just a bit throughout, you dont have to listen to me but i think it is a delicate piece please soften it. otherwise verrrrrrry good!
Exceptional playing of this piece. Technically speaking, the piece isn't too difficult, but to master it is a different story. You are very close to mastering it. You have the tempo perfectly set, and a nice balance between treble, bass, and the melody line. The overall mood of the piece could have been quieter, and I would have liked to see a little bit of mid-measure rubato around 3:30. Nice performance.
The tempo is spot on. The best I have seen for an amateur musician. There is a lack of depth. The piece needs to be a little quieter overall, with the crescendo starting at 3:01. This is a VERY difficult piece to play perfectly. That said, I applaud your effort! You are a talented individual, and I hope you continue to practice and improve your playing. You have alot of talent! Other than some professional recordings I have listened to, this is the best on You Tube!
Many thanks to David from Germany. He gets 5 Stars because I like his interpretation a lot. This is not the last time that I will listen to his performance. David, if you like, I would invite you to listen to my interpretation of this song on a classical guitar. Because I startet Guitarplaying in the age of 30 I will never become perfekt. But the moonlight sonata is for me the best musicpeace to try and try to improve myself and to bring a little bit of peace in the world.
omg you are so awsome. the first time i heard this piece was on an anime called case closed. since then this has become my fav classical piece. every time i hear it it sends a shiver up my spine. bravo and i love your 2nd and 3rd movements. ps. could you send me the sheet music for this? if you can great. if not thats cool. bravo
This was really nice. Emotional and with the hesitation required. Most people play it too fast and some too slow, but this is perfect tempo :) Keep up the good work!
Nicely played. It should be quieter, more ethereal, more fleeting, like a mist, where vague images and shapes seem to form before us, fading before we can quite make them out. A sort of haunting, elusive, quality is what really distinguishes great performances of this piece from merely "very good" performances. Not bad, though, and certainly better than some other performances I've seen on this site.
You have to love people like this, not only is this an amateur website, but people aren't here to post professional quality performances; they are simply here to share. In that spirit, well played.
If people wanted a professional critique they would say so, and not only that, but half of what you wrote, you must have been drinking wine that had the essence of rose hip and finely aged oak with a touch of the bitter-sweetness of spring.

You were at the first performance?
That would make you what, over 160 years old?

I have to say, that I love this song, and there are no words to describe how you play the piano. I wish someday I could see you play live!

Boo armchair critics!
